Potential GREAT hotel....

Very surprised. I knew it wasn’t city centre, but was closer than I thought-not a bad walk-Luas was only 1 block away-1.50 Euros. GREAT deal off the rack rate w/Expedia! I bkd here FOR the in-room wi-fi. But always had a low connection/could NEVER log in. Had to go to lobby to work, connect w/home, make resvs, etc. Mom rushed to hosp in NJ-to use Skype to call home had to go to lobby-no privacy. THIS lost 5th star. IT said it worked FINE (I tried EVERY corner-no better serv) yet got EXC recep in lobby-wasn’t netbook. Tried other flr to see if was better, but it wasn’t. Friends couldn’t access either. After getting call about mom-got 4:30 AM got wake up call that I DIDN’T request. Phone ring=bad news? Not even a scone was offered. Empty tiss box was replaced AFTER I put it (on day 2) on trash. Room was clean/roomy/quiet-VERY comfy (bed/pillows). No view but knew that. Friendly staff/Gd hair dryer/Huge tub. Nice hot tub/pool/fitness rm. Bthng cap req-fine. 1 Euro for lckr in fit cent but you got it back. Felt very safe alone. Got bfast in lobby each morn while on comp-GREAT raisin scones/coffee! Serv was slow (or, had to remind them that you placed order, but overall not bad). Beautiful lobby-great for after-show chatter. Comp/printer (w/fee) in corner if you need to confirm your airline res. Ate 1 meal in the Iveagh. Food was exc- but pricey. Had a steak w/few potatoes, gl of wine/crepe for dessert=$60 US, but glad I ate there once. The C Bar-friendly bartenders & ambiance.

Hop On Hop Off bus -- take tour around once to get info on area then start at the Gaol as it gives you a great background of Irish history. Guinness Storehouse - -I don’t drink and still found this a great way to spend an afternoon (be sure to have a Guinness Muffin at the cafe - -really tasty) I enjoyed getting off on the various stops and walking around -- Dublin Castle, Trinity College (Book of Kells, Rosetta Stone, Long Library), St. Patrick’s, Christ Church, Tourism Center, Bewely’s Cafe (great afternoon show/lunch combo). Oh -- shop NORTH of Liffey to get best prices. Carroll’s has BEST Irish souvenirs and prices. Be sure to ask for VAT form to get your $$ back at airport (Oh -- Guinness refunded VAT on spot, but you need to turn form in at airport or it will be charged back to you). St Stephen’s Green -- very peaceful beautiful spot. Wild Wicklow Tour -- even though it rained all day and was foggy, great day out...really enjoyed it. Can’t imagine it in nice weather...lol EVERYthing is in walking distance.

Good midrange Dublin hotel

This is a clean, comfortable hotel in central Dublin. It is a short walk from here to any of the major sights. This is not a luxury hotel but it is a very good deal for the price. While the neighborhood is a little run down, the hotel itself is very well-outfitted.

This hotel is in a slightly rowdy neighborhood. It’s fine during the day but could be a little frightening in the late evening.
