Time Hotel/NY-Great location for Theater/Shopping

Time Hotel is in a great location located one block off Times Square and one block from the Red Line subway which runs conveniently up and down Seventh Ave and Broadway to all parts of the city. It is clean and has a friendly staff, however the rooms are very small which is typical for New York and not really a negative for those wanting a clean convenient reasonable rate hotel. It has a modern look and feel and reminds me of similar hotels in Europe that are converted older buildings into modern look boutique type hotels. I will stay there again, IF the price is reasonable compared to other similar hotels in that location.

Great location!

This hotel has a great location. It is close to theatres and the Broadway district. The hotel was clean and information indicated it had been recently renovated. I am not sure recent means this year because the shower could have had some updates. The tile looked old and required some updating re grouting. Overall it was a good choice.

If you like shopping you have to go to Century 21. Great deals on cashmere sweaters.

Time Hotel- A GREAT PLACE!

This was our first trip to NYC. I think I looked at every hotel. I couldn’t be happier with the Time. It is a fantastic location. It is about a 1 minute walk to the corner of 49th and Broadway, right in the middle of the action. But because it is a smaller hotel, you can head back to your room for a quick rest and you feel like you can also get away from it all. I’ve read a lot of reviews about bad service, dirty rooms, etc. I can’t say anything bad about the Time. The Inc. Lounge is a cool place to get a couple drinks before a Broadway show also. The bed was unbelievably comfortable! The bathroom was quite small, but it didn’t bother me at all. It had a full size shower/ tub, great watr pressure, plenty of hot water, and nice big towels. When it came time to leave and head to the airport, they had a driver waiting outside. They concierge desk was very helpful in recommending a great place for lunch or Broadway show ideas. Book it! You won’t be disappointed.

Wonderful location, wonderful experience

I would recommend this hotel to anyone, it was clean, staff was friendly, centrally located and roomy enough for a good nights sleep. We were prepared for small accommodations, but this room pleasantly suprised us. I would recommend the bus tour travel pass to first time New York travellers - just to get the lay of the land. I would recommend the shuttle pass from the airport to the hotel, but not vice versa - the shuttle picks you up hours before your flight and you sit in the airport, instead of enjoying your last moments of New York, in New York. Prepare yourself to be awed by the Time Square and the energy of New York. We will be back!

Perfect location, European style room, bit harsh service

As said in the title, ideal mid-town location, for US standard small but very comfortable rooms, south rooms very calm. Reception desk with an "a la" New-York style: quick, a notch hard selling. Good quality-price ratio.

Good location for the theatre district

Overall, we were very pleased. The rooms were well decorated and the beds were very comfortable with nice linens. The rooms were a little small, but that’s pretty typical for NYC. I would stay there again if I were interested in the Broadway/Times Square scene.

Traveler's tip on dining

Definitely take time to eat at Ruby Foo’s right on the corner outside the hotel.....great Asian food! I go there every time I’m in NYC and it is consistently good.

Simple but complete

Enjoyed the stay. The room offered nothing fancy -- but this is New York. We didn’t come to stay in the room!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

If you’re visiting NY for the first time, take the Grayline 48-hour tour. Travel the entire route without leaving the bus the first day. Day two, start early and stop wherever you want to tour; then get on the bus later. It’s a good value.

Nice, yet overated, I expected better for 4-star

This is a nice hotel, however a couple things should be noted upon a closer look: Pros: One block off Times Square area, very comfortable bed, quick room service, very accomodating staff. My room (Deluxe King) had plenty of space for one person. I asked to be away from the elevator which they obliged. Cons: For a 4-star hotel, rooms should have coffee makers. My room’s bathroom had no tub, instead, a floor drain for the shower that is level with the rest of the floor. There is no closet, but an area with shelves and hangar bar hidden by a curtain. My desk chair was essentially an old kitchen chair with a low seat that made it difficult to work at times without sitting on pillows (and I’m 6’4").

Traveler's tip for business travelers

Seraphina,the restaurant downstairs is excellent.

The Time Hotel: Not same Hotel I stayed in a year ago

I had a wonderful experience my first stay at The Time Hotel on 49th St. a year ago. This trip was not so nice. I was first put in a room with a standard bed (I had reserved a king sized) and tiny room. Once moved, I went a night without TV because there was no remote (needed to operate the TV). The hospitality bar lost refridgeration overnight. Finally, I did not find the desk staff to be very hospitable at all. I would not be complaining if I had paid the same price this time as last. I believe The Time Hotel has dropped from a 4 Star to a 2 1/2 star hotel.

Traveler's tip

Unfortunately, the subway to south Manhattan was under repair and I could not get to Ground Zero witout a cab. The rest of the subway was just fine.(good luck asking directions from other passengers. They either don’t speak English or dont know how to give directions on which train to take.!)

The Time Hotel is Fine

This was my third stay here. As usual I can report that it was very convenient, Half a block from subway, there is a doorman, front desk very helpful. I had a single room on the 14th floor that was small, but ok by NYC standards. the bathroom was clean and tiled. The Time Hotel offers no closets nor dressers, just little cubbies and a clothes wardrobe behind a curtain. The desk area was very functional.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Don’t be afraid of the subway and don’t be afraid of taking a cab. Walking everywhere is very time consuming due to foot traffic and lights.

Cheap, Clean, & In the Middle of Everthing!

If your looking for a basic room right in the heart of time square that’s cheap and clean, this is the place for you. However if you looking for hotel amenities and a room you want to hang out in, I’d go somewhere else.

basic but excellent location

Good location, not luxurious but OK. A bit of an elevator hassle with reception on the 2nd floor. Very polite doormen. Awful noise from the 2nd floor bar on weekends, can’t hear speech over the reception desk counter. A cigaret smelling room offered to us first was nimbly changed to a fresher one after a request. Forgot our belongings to the safe deposit box after having checked out, and the staff was extremely helpful sorting it out for us.

Would stay again

Small Rooms and no view. Your’e never in them anyway in while you visit the city. Well located and very close to Times Square, 30 Rock, and other hot spots. Parking garage directly across the street. Two Cocktail areas were nice and friendly staff. Highly recommend and would stay again.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

use the subway system. Very cheap and easy to get around

Enjoyed it allot.

We booked a one bedroom suite with a separate lounge room. Really happy with the room size, comfort and facilities - maybe even too well equipped (3 Bose radios and 2 large plasma TV’s). The location is perfect for tourists - just off Broadway & T.Square. The hotel is a little run down and poorly maintained - it’s loosing a little of it’s original glory. Hallway carpets were dirty and mini-bar was no longer fully stocked. We suspect that it’s being run on a tight budget. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Traveler's tip on dining

The stardust café around the corner on Broadway is a great place for breakfast if you have children. The staff sing old 50’s tunes in between serving.

Not impressed

Air conditionar was broken. Nobody came after several calls by me to fix it. One of the two telephones was also broken. Room color was red, which we never feel comfort. I never come back to this hotel

A great choice, best location !!

The location is great, right in the middle of Times Square. This is a design hotel, it is not the typical american hotel with big spaces, it is most like european small and neat hotels. The front desk service was the best. My room was very small, so I asked about it, and they change it for a bigger one, without any questions or any extra charge. Very clean, without noise.

Time Hotel is the best ticket to Broadway

We stayed at the Time Hotel. It was fantastic. Clean rooms, very modern look and stylish. Excellent, big, flat screen TV. Only 2 or 3 blocks to walk to Time Square. I walked down and got tickets to the Lion King on Broadway(4 blocks away). All the shows are within walking distance. We rented a car at the Newark Airport and parked it in the Garage across the street ($30/day with Hotel verification). We had a wedding in Long Island so we had to have the car. The food in the restaurant was good - Sarafin. My wife met a famous soap star in the restaurant. The bar hops at night in this place if you’re lookin for night life. There is a deli down the street as well if you just want a sandwich. What a great trip! We’ll be coming back to see other shows soon.

Traveler's tip on shopping

Walk down and visit the M&M Factory which is right on Time Square. It’s really cool! Yummy too!

Not Impressed. Poor desk service. Peeling plaster in bathroom.

We make a trip to NYC approximately every 6-8 months. This was the first and last time we stayed/will stay at this hotel. Check in was not available when promised. Young ladies working the desk were rude and not helpful - gave the feeling we were inconveniencing them by staying there. Bathroom wall had plaster and paint peeling - no tub; only shower with curtain not long enough to reach floor... water went everywhere. Very slow elevators - hotel staff used the same so it was held up alot. Bellman stored bags for us while we waited to check in. We needed our theater tickets from 1 bag. He opened the storage room where all the various guests bags were and let me go in and get what we needed and ask me to lock the room when done. I know he was busy and thought he was helping us but I felt odd doing this and who’s to say he hasn’t let less trustworthy guests do the same. No computer/business area to check flights, etc.

Great Location!

The hotel is in a great location! Could walk to everything. Our room was very small, but clean. The staff was friendly, especially the doorman.
