Excellent Hotel

No complaints, morning breakfast buffet provides lots of choices and was quite good. Reccomend Best Day (used through expedia) were the best of the tour companies experienced.

Solid value

I had the premium ocean view, which was worth the extra money because it was just five rooms from the pounding oceanfront. The beachside bar & restaurant is where I spent much of my time - the beach has eroded to such extent that the waves practically lap up onto the steps of the restaurant. Not a great choice if you actually want white sand beaches and this section of beach is extremely rocky and dangerous. Catch a cheap public bus to the bar scene or to Mercado 28 for shopping for local nick-knacks.

Great experience

CaseMagna had great hospitality.. we got to know most of their bellmen. At the restaurant inside the hotel where we had breakfast they even remembered what we liked to have every morning... This was impressive taken that we were only there for the weekend. If we needed suggestions anyone at the hotel was great at giving us ideas... There was one night we wanted to eat at a particular restaurant. The hotel called the restaurant and found out the time they closed and set up a reservation for us. When we got to the restaurant they were already waiting for us. The only thing I would have liked is to have had at least ONE event hosted by the hotel... Maybe just even for a couple of hours.. For example dancing by the pool at night (they do have music by the pool/beach during the day) ... but there was not one event to get to hang out at the hotel and mingle with other guests... Oh, the first night we had a problem with the tub drain & the hotel took care of it within about 15 min after we informed them. Did not have a problem at all thereafter. We were surprised of how quickly they fixed the problem.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

CasaMagna is at a great location in Cancun... we would take the local bus & were at the clubs in about 10min.. You have nice views of the other hotels and local restaurants so we had no problem being on the bus 10min. At night you are likely to have some kind of entertainment on your way back to your hotel. Bus ride is $0.75 cents.

The Marriott CasaMagnificent!!

When we pulled up to the grand entrance there was the Bellman who welcomed us back home! It was a perfect start! Check-in was no problem at all and we got the exact room that we! This was our 3rd time in Cancun, and the third time at the Casa Magna, so we saw a lot of familiar faces. Daniel brought our bags up to the room where he welcomed us and let us know that a few of the restaurants in the hotel were closed for the month of September. It was somewhat disappointing, but we were in paradise so we got over it! Our room was absolutely gorgeous! Very clean and very refreshing! The balcony looked right over the ocean. We did notice that there were some rocks/stones around the Casa Magna beach and after inquiring about it with the Front Desk we found out that it’s there to protect the beach in case of another hurricane. It really wasn’t that big of a deal cause you can enter the ocean on the JW side. It actually makes for a pretty neat sitting area! Anyways, everyone at the Casa Magna was so wonderful and helpful and they made us truly feel welcome! Since it was the low season there was hardly anyone there so it made you feel well pampered!! Plus, while we were there we went to the Spa and had a foot massage! It was so great I went back the next day for a full body massage! If you do decide that this is the hotel for you, you are in for a real treat!! You will come to know the staff very quickly and everyone is like family! I can’t wait to get back!

Traveler's tip on dining

We were in Cancun for 6 nights and we chose The Crab House for 2 of them! Both nights I had the Stone Crab and it was delicious! The caesar salad is made tableside and the dressing is literally made from scratch! I could’ve eaten here every single night! The cheesecake and flan are also great! If it’s possible, I would definitely recommend sitting on the patio! It’s beautiful out there!

Excellent Hotel

The Marriott Casa Magna is a beautiful hotel with a very nice beach that is swimmable unlike some of the beaches in Cancun. The rooms have marble floors and most have balconies, with the third floor rooms having the most generous balconies. All of the ocean view rooms are cleverly angled toward the beach for a better view. This hotel shares its property with the JW Marriott next door, so you can take advantage of their restaurants and services. Technically, you are not allowed to use their pool, but no one stopped me. The only bummer of the trip was that they banned swimming in the ocean on some "rough" days. I went in anyway, and was admonished one time. I suggest doing the same.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Rent a car and see the country! Don’t just stay in Cancun-- go see the ruins, snorkle along the beaches south of Cancun, see the cenotes or go to Cozumel. Driving in Mexico is fine; don’t believe the rumors. If you’re still uncomfortable driving, trips can be arranged to all of these places via various reputable outfits.

Awesome!!!

We were there for our anniversary any enjoyed every minute of it. The entire trip was incredible. The rooms, view, pool area, restaurants are incredible. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet in the mornings is amazing. It has just about anything you can think of, miso soup and sushi to fresh cooked-to-order omelets. The award winning bartender Arturo is fantastic; you gotta try his "Passion". The only problem is that eventually you have to leave and get back to your job/life :-(

Traveler's tip on dining

Make sure you sign up at least for the inclusive breakfast, you won’t regret it. Try the "green juice (jugo verde)" at breakfast. It’s very refreshing.

Great all inclusive hotel

We travelled at the end of August with our 2 kids and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The all inclusive plan was great despite the closure of a couple of restaurants during certain days of the week. There was still enough variety on the menus to keep us happy with the food. It was nice that both alcohol & non-alcoholic drinks were included. The staff was friendly. The rooms were clean. The oceanfront room was worth the upgrade. Unfortunately, pool was small & there weren’t any slides for the kids.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Our kids, ages 7 & 9, enjoyed adventure trips to Xel-Ha & Isla Mujeres where they got to swim & snorkel.

CasaMagna is a Great Hotel!

The hotel was amazing! The staff is friendly and helpful. We had an amazing ocean view room on the 4th floor. The room had plenty of space and was very clean. They have a nice pool & the beach was also amazing - nice, beautiful turquoise water! You could tell that tourism was down as both the pool & beach were not crowded. At times, we felt like the hotel was our exclusive playground. The restaurants at the hotel are delicious, but pricey. The Thai restaurant was amazing! The seafood place at the other Marriott next door was good as well but we did not really enjoy their Italian restaurant. The entire trip was pure paradise from beginning to end. We took the bus many times - it’s safe, cheap & clean. Cancun has a ton of friendly people. I would love to go again!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The Selvatica ziplining tour was a ton of fun! We also did some snorkeling with another tour, but it was not exciting by any means - visibility was so so & there were only a few fish. We also were able to travel to Playa Del Carmen -about an hour drive. A great little beach town and it’s the opposite of Cancun - relaxed, European-ish.

Great location!

Magnificent pool made up for the rocky beach.Only drawback was that its business centre is closed and if guests would need to check briefly email or go on the internet, one has to go to JW Marriott which was next door but still quite a walk! Other than this and probably the rocky beach,I would highly recommend this hotel for its service.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Mc Donalds, Domino’s pizza and a few restaurants right across the hotel which could be alternatives for less pricey meals. For convenience stores, OXXO and 7-Eleven and accessible to R1 and R2 buses to go downtown in place of taxis and altogether safe.

Impressed with the hotel, not the beach

It is a great hotel, however the beach was a disaster, it had rocks everywhere, what a disgrace, you could not swim safely. I’m sure they could have been removed for the safety of the guest and to avoid liability to the hotel.

Casa Magna

I took my family to Cancun for 5 days, we had a wonderful time! I would suggest staying in the hotel and not venturing out, the hotel facilities are lovely but the vendors outside of the hotel have become quite aggressive.

Nice stay

A wonderful hotel with excellent. Pool is much better than the JW and the hotel outside is brighter. Service was quick and fast and everyone was helpful. Take buses in to town. We booked excursions thru hotel safer, easier and it was not much difference in price. Will stay here again. A mix of families and couples here. Swim up bar real treat for kids(and daddy too)

Didn’t want to Leave

I took my daughter for a short trip before school started. The hotel staff was very friendly and professional. Our room was clean and fresh. Of course, the views of the beach and ocean were incredible. The beach is rocky in some places right at the edge of the water, so you have to be careful not to get knocked into them by the waves. We ate breakfast at the buffet in the Hotel. There was a huge variety of food and most everything I tried was very good. We also ate at the sports bar restaurant in the Hotel called Champions. The food was pretty good, but not great.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

I highly recommend upgrading to get the breakfast buffet with the room. You will save quite a few pesos by doing so.

Not impresssed

Its a good but an old hotel, the service is exelent but the conditions of the hotel are old. An example the air condition on the rooms make a loud noise each time they turn on and off..........in my opinion you get what you pay for.

I will stay there again.

The rooms were wonderful and the staff was very helpful. The restaurants - La Capilla, Champsions, and Mikado were all great. I recommend the breakfast buffet at La Capilla. The restaurants were all pricey but this is expected when you visit a popular tourist destination. My take is be ready to spend when on vacation. We will be returning to Casa Magna next year.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Papa John is right across the street and they deliver to the hotel. Xcaret and Chichen Itza are both all day excursions. I recommend both and book them through Cancun lines & they give you 10% discount restaurant coupons. Do not shop at the flea market in Cancun!! I found the prices of souvenirs, clothes, etc. to be much more reasonable at a stop en route to Chichen Itza, at Chichen Itza, and believe it or not, at the airport!!!
