Very impressed

5 star

Traveler's tip

Do not get involved in solicitations from people at the airport, at the car rental place, or the hotel. We were warned but still got caught.

Away from the crowds

The Pueblo Bonito Sunset property is on the Pacific Site of the Baja on a beautiful, deserted beach. Yes you cannot swim in the ocean, but the beach is great for walking and free of the annoying vendors they have on the Cabo side. All restaurants are wonderful and reasonably priced. My two children 5,7 loves the kids club and all the diffent pools. I enjoyed the fitness center and spa. We went to the Cabo Hotel a couple of times and while nice also were glad to be back on the quiet side. The only wish would be for more vegetarian choices on both the kids and grown up menus.

The fitness center offers reduced afternoon rates, so sign up your kids for the kids club and enjoy! The hotel does offer a shuttle to the airport at a more economical rate that hiring your own taxi.

Very impressed - top hotel by Conde Nast

Pueblo Bonito Sunset was super high end (we got a real deal with Expedia package) and we enjoyed our stay very much: beautiful environment, service, and food. It’s definitely a place where you go and just relax.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Rent a car since the resort is removed from the city and one cannot swim at its beach - dangerous undercurrents. PB resort has other hotels with beach access and a shuttle goes out every hour but it will not stop in town - there isn’t much to Cabo San Lucas anyway; Cabo San Jose is a nicer town in the island.

Great place to stay!

The hotel was beautiful! I thought it was farther from downtown Cabo, but actually just a 10 min drive. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The only thing that is negative is that you cannot go into the ocean on the beaches near the hotel. The current/riptide is to strong but the pools are a great second!

Beauuuuuuuuttttttttiiiiiiiiiiifuuuuullllllllllll!

This place was absolutely amazing! The view alone is worth going. The resort is so secluded that it makes you feel like your on your own private island. Everything was clean and comfortable. The Sky Pool offers 270 degree view, which is great for sunsets. Also, be sure to eat at La Frida, one of the most amazing places I’ve ever eaten. You can’t go wrong w/ this place.

You have to wait an hour to take their complimentary shuttle into town, which is about a 15 minute drive. The first shuttle leaves at 10am so be sure and reserve early!

Great Hotel

If you are staying there for longer than four days or spending a lot of time in the hotel complex, this hotel will be a great choice. It’s luxurious and very clean. However, it’s a little far from the downtown area, so you’ll spend a lot of time waiting for a free shuttle bus since it can be full very quickly and you might have to wait for the next one in another hour. I recommend you get a shuttle bus ticket before getting ready to go out. If you are planning to go surfing, you’ll need a rental car at least for the day since the hotel is very far from good surfing spots.

nice and too big

nice hotel, the room was a little warm but then again we were in cabo in July. the resort is very big and the only small draw back is waiting to get around on carts. The food was excellent and highly recommended. there are four sister resorts which you can take advantage of which is a great advantage.

Our new annual vacation spot..

So, this was our second year in a row at the Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach and it was just as fabulous as the first time. Nothing but total relaxation which is what vacation is all about for me and my family. Every pool has an aquabar so you can order drinks and lunch pool-side from your lounge chair. The menu is not only abundant but family friendly with nachos, tacos, burgers and even buffalo wings, my kid’s favorite! Not to mention, the simply delicious shrimp ceviche. The perfect accompaniment to the buy one, get one margaritas during happy hour. Service came with a smile and the staff are always ready to greet you with an "hola" or "buenos dias". With 5 pools, every day is a new experience. There is a free shuttle to the sister hotel, The Rose, if you want to drop into town for dining or shopping but I literally could’ve stayed at the Sunset Beach for the length of my visit.. Can’t wait to go back again next year!

Traveler's tip on dining

Take advantage of the delicious buffets at the La Nao restaurant. Well worth your money.

Can’t wait to go back to Sunset Beach

I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach. My kids and I enjoyed the various swimming pools and restaurants. I would highly recommend taking the shuttle to Rose if you want to spend time at the beach or downtown.

Traveler's tip on dining

Marisco’s Mazatlan is a must. It is a 15 minute walk from Rose or a short taxi drive away. If you like seafood this is the place to go!

Relaxtion

Our trip was wonderful. The hotel staff, especially the "golfcart" drivers and servers at the pools were excellent. They were always asking how our trip was so far and very friendly.

Beautiful Hotel

My husband and I recently stayed at this hotel to celebrate our anniversary. The hotel itself had wonderful service and was impeccably maintained. However I had jjust barely checked in when a hotel staff wanted to sign me up for my "free breakfast"/ timeshare presentation. I told them i was there to relax not to buy anything. They kept trying to persuade me to get my free breakfast by calling my room every morning and waking me up. After the 3rd time I told them not to call me anymore or I would check out of the hotel. They stopped calling. They need to let people relax on their vacation. Apparantly this timeshare issue is a problem at all the local area hotels. This was the only negative thing about this hotel. The service, the food, drinks, location was great.

Traveler's tip

Firmly say no to the timeshare breakfast.

Heavenly

Beautiful hotel, beautiful grounds and beautiful setting. Everything was perfect: the weather, the view, the environment. Multiple beautiful pools, excellent walking environment (beach or hills), tennis, pool activities, classes, etc. Everything you could possibly want was at this resort. First class!

Traveler's tip on dining

Go into Cabo San Lucus in the evenings and enjoy some of the great local food. Lots of good places to eat...ask anyone at the hotel to tell you about where the local people eat!

Amazing resort!

The resort is beautiful and is immaculately maintained. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The resort is large but there are golf carts buzzing around constantly that will take you wherever you want to go. All of the 5 pools are wonderful and very clean. The rooms were very comfortable, beautiful and also clean. All of the food at the hotel is wonderful and there are plenty of taxi’s if you wish to go into town for any other activities or dining. The beach is not swimmable but there is a free shuttle to take you to another Pueblo Bonito resort where you can swim on the beach. My fiance and I went as a fun summer get away and we had a fantastic time and were very impressed with the resort. We will definitely return.

Traveler's tip

I would recommend setting up some type of transportation prior to your arrival at the airport. If it is your first time in Cabo, all of the people/"time share sharks" can be confusing when you enter the airport. We used TransCabo and were very pleased.

Extraordinary Views

A really excellent hotel. The rooms are very spacious and well designed, and the views of the ocean are really extraordinary. The services are very good. The only caveats: 1) you cannot swim at the beach 2) this is a big hotel - you need to call golf carts to go from one place to another (the don’t take long to show up)

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Eat at the beach! not expensive and very good. Excellent fish tacos baja-style that go very well with a cool beer. Also - taxis are very expensive, you are better off renting a car.

Wonderful Hotel!

This hotel was fantastic! The food, pools, service, and room was great. If I go back to Cabo, I would definitely stay here.

Traveler's tip on dining

If you get sick of seafood and want a great steak, go to Ruth’s Cris. It’s in the shopping mall on the marina. If you’re interested in doing a tequila tasting or just want to go to a cool bar, check out Hemingway’s - across from Cabo Wabo.

Oasis of pleasure and beauty!

Our stay was as wonderful as we had expected! We only went to Cabo itself two days! We were pampered so well by the attentive staff that we didn’t care to leave! The grounds are gorgeous and everything is so clean. I don’t think we wanted for anything! PBSB is the perfect way to go to Cabo.. you are close to the activity if you want to be or far enough away to relax and be pampered! Muy Bien!

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Learn the restaurants Eat poolside: great food, not $$$ Sign up for the free shuttle ahead of time (day before) Prepare for windy conditions. It gets cool at night. Go see the Pacifica, it’s beautiful! Some buildings (20-24?) have wired internet. Only AT&T gets phone service. Go to the Skypool, you might not go to the others!

We travel a lot. PBSB is one of the best!!!

This is one beautiful resort. Attention to detail is their goal. For those who wish to avoid "time share" sales pitches, a raised hand and firm "No Thankyou" is all that is necessary. If we had to rate anything "Less than the best" it would be food quality. One would expect such opulant accomidations to offer top notch dinning. Overall the resort is wonderful. It is very laid back yet refined. Would go back in a minute!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Take time to go to town. Explore, have fun and take a sunset cruise.

Relaxation at every level

Gracious setting, every comfy room has a fabulous view, biggest decision every day was which of the four pools to choose from. You can walk on the beach, but no wading or swimming- there’s quite an undertow. Take advantage of the free shuttle to other properties owned by Pueblo Bonito for that. There’s a nice deli on site, a couple of restaurants - otherwise, use the shuttle to go into town for food & drink.

Traveler's tip

Take advantage of shuttle tickets through the web site and avoid all those timeshare salespeople at the airport!

Beautiful--We’ll be back

My fiancee wanted to get away, and put me in charge of finding a place. PBSB looked like the place we’d like best. The elevation changes. pools, and views appealed to me. Negative reviews mentioned the pressure to attend timeshare pitches. With a background in sales, I believed I could handle that. Upon arrival, we were stunned with the quality and appearance of the place. We had a huge private patio with hot tub, and a stunning view. When the first timeshare approach came, I said, "See that woman over there? I intend to spend the next five days with her. Would YOU go to a presentation on ANYTHING if you could be alone with her instead?" He shook his head. I pulled out a $20 bill. "If no one else here approaches us about a timeshare in the next five days, I guarantee we’ll come back." He nodded vigorously but refused the money. No more timeshare pitches the rest of the trip. The facilities were the best I’ve ever encountered. The food was all delicious, and half the cost I expected. Staff made us feel like we were their favorite guests. Our trip was perfect. We made several new friends there who were timeshare owners, and pleased with their choice. The timeshare route IS a good choice for some. BTW I don’t know what the Studio units look like; ALL master suites have a patio and a view of the ocean, and that guarantee was worth an extra $600 or so to me. We could not have been more pleased with our stay.

Traveler's tip

Bring an enthusiastic partner and you’ll meet great people, find loads of stuff to do, and have a great time. Take a cab in town and hit The Giggling Marlin. Be prepared to have a blast.

Don’t go unless you like to be herded in golf carts

For the most part, this hotel is a time-share. The "hotel" rooms are mostly located FAR from the beach & you have to take golf carts anywhere you want to go. It’s like you are a prisoner in your room until a golf cart comes for you. Of course, you could brave the walk on the golf cart paths, but you may be plowed over by one of those annoying golf carts flying around the corner. A vacation should be relaxing and about freedom to do whatever you want, whenever you want. This place, with its golf cart culture, is the opposite of relaxing. I would not recommend it & we won’t be going back.

Traveler's tip on dining

Get out of the resort & go to The Office (restaurant - everyone knows it). It’s right on the beach. Eat yummy home-made tortillas with your toes in the sand. Beautiful place. Great food.

Will definitely go back

Great resort, nice people, extremely clean, good food. We found that the time share people were extremely agressive (more so at the airport) the first day. Less so as the trip went on. We joked that we’ll get a tan before going so as not be harassed. Also, my husband noticed a charge for 14 pesos ($1) on our bill for every day of our stay. When he questioned it, he was told that it was a charitable donation. We never consented to this charge & asked that it be removed. Very sneaky. Go over your bill at check-out with a fine tooth comb, regardless of where you stay! Otherwise, our stay there was wonderful. We hope to return next year!

Downtown, Mi Casa & Pancho’s are both fantastic!

Best pueblo bonito in cabo

They are doing construction on site but have several rooms available without the sights and sounds of construction. Liked the shuttle to town and to the pacifica. Liked Sunset Beach best of the four Pueblo Bonito hotels in Cabo. Food was great. Happy hour is really an hour so get to the pools a little before three. Had a great time there would recommend it to anyone.
