Comfortable, Convenient Enough, But Something Missing
We stayed at this hotel for three nights in October 2009 in a large studio room. This is a pleasant, serviceable hotel. It was clean. The bed was comfortable. Our room had a working fireplace with artificial logs available at the desk for $4.50 each. My only objection to the room was that the lighting was awful with low wattage compact fluorescent light bulbs. Yes, yes, its "green," but the light is ugly and made the room dreary at night and it is hard to read by. Yet, somehow the place was lacking. It might be that the place is kind of "motel-y" and seems cheaply built. Entrances to rooms are from the outside off a interior courtyard and our door was tucked awkwardly under stairs. The path to the office and breakfast was wandering and circuitous . You could hear the "elephants" stomping around upstairs. The location is very close to New Haven, Yale, and I-95. It is in an area of office buildings and is a little hard to find. It is not clear when you drive up where the office is. It would be difficult to be there without a car. In summary, it is clean, mostly comfortable, convenient and a reasonable value-for-money. It is better than just functional, but somehow lacking if you want more than that.

very confortable
The rooms are studio style, with a full kitchen, and everything was very clean. For the price, it was a good deal.

Leaky a/c
Our carpet had an area that was drenched on our arrival. I assumed it to be from the pouring rain we had likely tracked in. The following morning, the area was even more wet with a horrible chemical smell. Turned out to be aleaky a/c unit from above. The staff was prompt about remedying the wetness but the smell remained. Ultimately, requested a room change because of the smell. LOTS Of room in the "suite" and full size fridge, stove, dishwasher and all the dishes, silvware, pots/pans you could need. Fair value for the price. Worthwhile for what you can save by not eating out in the city.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
Allow PLENTY of travel time to go anywhere. Traffic was horrendous the entire time we were there. Took nearly 3 hours to reach NYC
