over-priced but very comfortable
I went here with my wife for a 5 day get-away and was happy with the hotels accomadations including the pools, beaches, bars, and restaurants. The food was excellent and there is 3 different places to dine. A few problems I had was they charge for wireless internet, and I need to have connection 24 hours a day, and they charged me 65 euros for the week. Every hotel Ive been to in the past 4 years has had free wireless ineternt. Also the connection in the room was very weak and disconnected all the time. The best place to connect was on the beach. I also had a problem with the cost of food and alcohol. Its about 30% more than it should be. A coke by the pool was 3.50 euros, and a refill is another 3.50 euros. A perosnal pizza 15 euros. Dinner for 2 at the main restaurant with drinks is more than 110 euros. Taxis to the towm of marbella are 15-25 euros each way, which is expensive. But, if your looking to relax and dont mind the prices you will have a wonderful time.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
request a room with a sea-side view. dont go to the town of marbella between 1-5, siesta time. the area of puerto banus is very upscale with nice places to eat. I had my most expensive drink in my life there, 25 euros.

You are not a bird, try a differente one
Too expensive and poor service. The surrounding area is incredible beautiful, with large gardens but unless you are a bird avoid staying in this hotel. They will charge you for everything, including a chair in the beach or an Internet connection at really high rates. Service is poor and cleanness not as good as it should be considering the hotel says is a five starts one. I really suggest avoiding staying here. There are a lot of very good hotels in Marbella and much cheaper than Don Carlos. Try another one.

Too busy and noisy place.
Nikki Beach club - one of the most attractive clubs in Marbella - is located next to Don Carlos Beach club. They have fantastic day and night parties. That is good and bad at the same time, - you dont have to travel to get there, but you cant sleep normally because of the loud music and drunken clubbers (these guys fill in the hotel lobby and entrance after the parties are over).
