Rude, inflexible, disorganized

I reserved, and paid extra for, a junior suite for my stay. My stay was dependent on having more than one bed. I checked in, and had one room with one queen bed. When I complained, the hotel staff was rude and inflexible suggesting that I just take the room that was given to me, and maybe they would give me a breakfast coupon. Then my only other option was to pay a huge additional fee to get an extra room. I wasn’t satisfied with the fact that I didn’t get the room I paid and depended on for my trip. And then to top it off, they were really rude. In all, the suites seem great, but you’ll never get one.

Would definitely stay here again

This hotel is in a great location! It was clean and the air conditioning worked great! My only complaint was I had to call everyday to ask for enough towels for 5 people.

Good location; nice inside, but lousy view of outside

Good place to stay if you want to be right in the city. Don’t plan on a great view though. Accomodated group of five, which is hard to come by in the city. Staff was friendly and attended to our needs.

Perfect location and excellent service

2 blks from Empire State. Free internet and WIFI. Excellent service. Nicely designed rooms. They set me up with fridge within an hour as I was traveling with children. The entrance from the street may not be impressive but that did not matter to me.

Nicer than expected

We had 3 adults and 2 kids in our room, so it was considered a suite. Much larger than expected and very clean. The bathroom was terrific for 5 females...2 sinks and separate shower and bath. Staff was very friendly and quick to assist. We had to call for extra towels every night (only 3 towels to a room) and although calling was annoying, they were friendly and quick to respond.

Kids eat free for breakfast with an adult. The breakfast was $19.95. If you have a kid, that’s a good price for 2 but not worth $40 for 2 adults.

The worst hotel experience of my life (and my family)..EVER!

This hotel totally ruined our vacation. First night was terrible; the room thermostat reads 83F. I reported the problem to the front desk that night and requested for their Engineering guy to check the A/C. Instead the hotel duty manager, named Eric went to our room with an electric fan and told me to open the windows and use the fan instead. I told him a fan is not an option because my wife and our children are asthmatic. There will be air circulation but the dust on the floor will aggravate the room warm temperature. Opening the windows will also allow hot air from the adjacent building to enter the room. I was given by this guy a flimsy explanation about the warm room temperature. I figured out this guy is playing tricks on me and treated me like an ignorant person. As expected my children didnt get enough sleep and was sweating the whole night. The following morning, I spoke with him (Eric) again to tell what happened. He gave me again a ridiculous explanation.We also missed our scheduled tour because my children were too tired to get up that morning. The thing that upsets me most is the dishonesty and deception of the Duty Manager (Eric) but I also have to commend the other hotel staff for their consideration and assistance, namely: Aileen, Johanna and Avi. Expedia should drop this hotel from their list!

Great location for an overview of Manhattan

A nice hotel in a great location. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms need some refurbishing (broken furniture legs and doors, soggy mattress in pull-out couch). A good value for the location. Very comfortable beds (with the exception to the pull-out bed) with comfy comforter and mattress. Would love to see the hotel negotiate a better daily rate with a local gym; $20 daily rate is too high.

No airconditioning at this hotel

Stayed from Friday 5/22/09 to 5/25/09. It was 90 degrees on Friday. Got back to hotel and room was 85 degrees. AC was set at 70. Called front desk and they said "sorry we are working on fixing AC" They gave me a fan. Sweated all night 2 hours of sleep. Saturday AC not fixed. Never was fixed but they did upgrade me to a larger room. Nice room but still over 80 at night. Good location, good service but would not stay in a room where it is a sweatbox again. In the city that never sleeps, needed a little more than a couple of hours a night of sweaty sleep.

Great value for price!

We needed a room with three beds for a reasonable price and this was it. Lovely spacious room. The only drawback was that the air conditioning in the hotel was not working. The room was very hot and this was May. The hotel did provide portable fans for us, still pretty hot. Hopefully that will be fixed soon. The staff was exceptionally nice. Such a pleasure to deal with everyday. Very, very nice stay at this hotel.

with three couples. the rooms on the upper floors were hot and the air ocnditioning was broken. The beds are actually super comfortable and the bedding is heavenly.

Lived up to the other reviews

Not impressed with the hotel. Although it was inexpensive. Had read complaints of rooms being too warm and when I arrived there were 2 people in the lobby with the same problem. My room was also warm but was able to open the window (9th floor) and get cooler air circulating. I was working so not spending much time in the room to sleep so not a big deal. The location was noisy and around 2am had to close the window for the noise of the Times Sq revelers, trash trucks, car horns and sirens. It truly is a city that never sleeps at 32nd & 5th Ave.

The hotel is located perfectly between 5th Ave and Madison Ave. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful with any requests. Rooms are clean and it has enough space.

Very pleased

My room was very large and stylish. We had two large beds and a separate sitting room with a pull out couch. The hotel is one block from the train and tons of shopping. The staff was very nice and the room and the parking were priced well for the area. We stayed only one night and did not want to leave. We will be returning.

Good Value

There were 5 of us staying at the hotel and their Junior Suite was perfect for our needs. The staff were accommodating and we were able to arrange an early check-in which was great since we drove from Toronto and arrived early in the morning. Location was an easy walk to Broadway, Times Square, Madison Square Gardens and for my wife only 2 blocks from Macey’s. Would definitely go back.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Since there were 5 of us cabs were out of the question. New York cabs will take a maximum of 4 passengers. We used the subways and they have an al day pass or you can get 3 day passes.

JEM OF A HOTEL

The hotel was a perfect choice. I loved the free internet in the room as well as the amazing complimentary breakfast buffet. It reminded me of staying in Europe. It was great to go down for breakfast and see all these families having breakfast together. It made a great way to start my day. I’ll be back.

My Birthday Getaway

Spent one night/ They are going thru renovations right now but it really didnt effect me...Just had to walk over a board to get to the elevator,,but so what,,,,everyone was nice,,,the room was more than fine,,,I had a pretty interesting view..i was up on the 10th floor. I would definitely go back. Everything was clean, I had PLENTY of room. As i talk about it I wish i was back there and doing the whole day oveer again,,,,very pleasant,,,oh and youre near Macys and so many shops and stuff; Midtown.East walk from Penn Station...I did it for the first time!!!

shpping, dining, ice skating at rockafeller Center which i probably spelled wrong,,,Ive lived on long island my whole life and cant spell rockafellar center!!! Anyway...Vincci Avalon is in a great location for everything. That was the main reason i picked it.

Not Bad...

The place is beautiful, and the location is just awesome...the empire state building is right there!! as is fifth avenue, and everything else. Only problem with the hotel was when we arrived early, we gave in the check in information and paid the deposit. The front desk said all we had to do was wait until 3pm officially before going into our room. Waited, and at 3 they had to pput us aside and apologize that they had no Jr. Suites clean right now. We had to wait for them to check one and make sure it was available. Took us an additional 45 minutes. Other than that it was ok.

Large hotel room

This hotel was very large for right in the heart of NY. We had 2 adults and 2 children. There were 2 tvs, 2 beds and a pull out sofa. The beds were very comfortable. The staff was very helpful. The location was great, right across from the Empire State Building. Great places to eat right next to the hotel. Felt safe at all times even walking alone in the dark!

Great deals on souveniers right across the street. Macy’s, Old Navy, Madison Square Garden, Empire State Building, Gray Line Bus pickup etc. right around the corner.

Great Find

This is a great hotel if you are staying in the Murray Hill area. The room is well appointed, the service staff is very helpful. We didn’t take advantage of their breakfast buffet, but it looked very good.

So Pleased

We found this hotel on Expedia and were a little skeptical about what we would get at this price. We couldn’t have been happier. It was gorgeous, super clean, very comfortable, had parking 2 blocks up, very close to the Empire State Building. The people at the front desk were very helpful to our questions. We had 5 of able to stay in one room--almost unheard of in the Big Apple. I highly recommend this hotel to others traveling to NYC.
