basic and great for the price
I have stayed at numerous mid to low priced monterey hotels and the Clarion is a great fit for me basic and comfortable. I am more worried abut cleanliness and a comfortable stay. I loved the indoor pool because Monterey can tend to be chilly, and BEST of all they also have a jacuzzi that I would go to in the evening before bedtime. Nothing fancy overall but I couldn’t find anything wrong with my stay there. The morning breakfast was not bad, many times I am running late so a quick bite is fine with me.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
This hotel is a short walk from the Del monte Mall and I also walked to the downtown area (another short walk) and utilized the free trolly to take me to Cannery row and back.

Average, clean hotel for the $$
The check-in went smoothly, the bed was comfortable, and the room felt clean. The only problem we had was the amount of noise in the hallways when the pool closed and in the morning. Could have been because we were on the route from the pool and not far from the parking lot. A room farther down the hall may not have been as noisy.

Awesome
This hotel is just the greatest. Always clean, nice interior in every room. Beautiful, clean indoor pool and hot tub. Nice landscaping outside so it’s not your average "pavement" atmosphere of other hotels of this pricing. The staff is always very pleasant and helpful. My husband and I stay here every visit to Monterey. Very closely located to Fisherman’s wharf and Cannery row (a short drive).
