The Hotel of My Dreams
The Opus is just right! Not too big, not too small, with friendly, helpful staff in a relaxed, but attentive environment. Sexy rooms and lighting! Love it!

Terrible Customer Service
I ordered in room massages through the front desk. They booked the massages for Friday afternoon instead of Saturday and still charged us. When I disputed the charge the hotel manager called my room three times to try to explain why they booked the massages on the wrong day and why they were going to charge us anyways. I actually had to ask him to stop calling me!

Great place to stay!!!!
Its great to be in a place where you feel good....but at the Opus Hotel you feel also important, everybody is taking care of you every moment. Rooms are exceptionally maintained and the location is great! The only thing .... its not a Hotel to go with kids, even I stayed there with my toddler and she loved the fancy elevators.

Hip joint in hip part of town
Booked this place because it seemed like the kind of place to revel in the fact that we were kidless for the long weekend and it was. Very stylish, very hip, very close to other places like it. The downstairs lobby turns into a lounge later in the evening and gets pretty loud likea club. But, thats what we were looking for so it wasnt a problem. The staff is exceedingly friendly and room service was speedy, efficient and tasty. My only complaint was that I had made arrangements to secure a couple of bikes one evening for the next day. When I came down the next morning, the bikes had been given to someone else and sent to the shop for repair. I minor issue since there is another bike rental place about 100 yards away near the waterfront. Over all, a great place to stay...if you dont have the kids.

As the sports cheer goes: OVER-RATED!
The Opus Hotel is a nice hotel, but, its all about value. And, relative to the daily rate, it is not a good value. With that said, our biggest issue with this hotel was the overall attitude. A few adjectives to describe most (not all) of the staff include: 1. Smug 2. Disingenuous 3. Stand-offish It wasnt necessarily anything that was said...it was more about what wasnt said. The vibe put off was that "youre lucky to be staying at our hotel." You get the feeling that you would be treated differently if you were a "VIP" or a "rock star". Additionally, a message left with the front desk staff by an outside tour operator was never communicated to us...a very simple task...one would think, especially at a hotel of this supposed calibre. The room was comfortable, clean...and the shower was very nice. Unlike the front desk, the cleaning staff were geniunely friendly. This hotel does not live up to its hype...look elsewhere.

Well worth it
The Opus was recommended to us by a few friends as well as other on-line reviews and we were not disappointed. Wonderful location for heading out into Yaletown for shopping, a bite to eat, or a bar to close the night at. The staff was also gracious and helpful without being overbearing.

Beware of the night club
Yikes. They put us on the second floor on a Sat night. They turn their lobby into a popular night club and crank house music all night until about 3am. Love house music but not when I am trying to sleep. They really need to decide if they are a night club or a hotel. Putting someone on the second floor ona Sat night is completely wrong.

Disappointed
Although the hotel was trendy and the room was nicely furnished, we did not enjoy our stay at this hotel. There was no bathtub and the water kept randomly coming out of the shower head. Although we were on the fourth floor, we could hear the loud music that was playing in the lobby. Also, there was a lot of noise from the street- people taking, car horns, ambulance sirens, etc.- that we could hear from our room.
Traveler's tip on dining
We loved the area and the great selection of restaurants.

Good location in cool part of town. Rooms newly done. Staff excellent. Highly recommend. Construction nearby (new train line) but didnt cause any trouble. When finished, will be great for transporation.

Sophisticated small hotel in Downtown Vancouver
My girlfriend and I went to Vancouver in July for a short vacation. WE wanted to stay in the same hotel for the duration of our vacation (5 nights). We wanted a "boutique" type of hotel well-situated in Downtown, and with some style and sophistication. We were not disappointed with Opus. This was a wonderful choice. The location was also perfect with many restaurants within walking distance. The service was discreet, polite, and friendly. The hotels French restaurant at the street level is intimate, relaxed, and affordable. Perfect hotel for a short or extended stay in wonderful Vancouver.

Excellent choice
The hotel is exciting once you get in. Modern and trendy this hotel has everything you need in order to have a great stay in Vancouver. Frontdesk service is good and food services is excelent. Hotel has one great lounge bar with djs playing during weekends. The restaurant offers some of the best food in town. The room has flat screen TV, DVD player component and good bath services. Highly recommended.

Excellent hotel full of unexpected delightful touches
The Opus hotel was a great selection. Its location is nearby several popular and delicious restaurants and bars and within walking distance of the waterfront. The room was very clean, very comfortable and our bellman was a wealth of suggestions for the area and very helpful. The hotel room was full of unexpected and delightful touches such as a very contemporary bathroom with a full wall of windows overlooking the street below, heated floors, flatscreen HD plasma TV, extra fully stocked mini-bar and drawer of snacks, the MOST comfortable bed I have ever slept in, oxygen (just in case of hotel fire), and a hotel staff ready to do anything for you. Everyone was so friendly, service-oriented and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We didnt get a chance to take advantage of the very trendy bar downstairs but next time we will.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Vancouver is very walkable. The only areas we recommend avoiding if you are walking are areas east of Carroll and north of Pender. Also, walking to/from Chinatown any route is best during the day. Take a taxi in/out as darkness nears.

Too expensive for small room, no view, and dated design.
The staff at the Opus were nice enough but service could have been more prompt. Standard room was relatively pricey yet quite small and the design is trendy but sadly in a dated way, i.e. very Philippe Starck / Ian Schrager 90s wannabe, perhaps the Canadian version thereof. The bed was also not particularly comfortable / too soft. The views were also disappointing beacause the hotel is a low rise - ours was of a parking lot! On the plus side, the bathroom was very nice with a great shower and its near Vancouvers Marina and some fun shops and art galleries.

We loved this funky, hip hotel in the trendy Yaletown. The room was very nice but the highest compliment must be given to the service of all personnel.

Trendy Hotel in Great Vancouver Location
The Opus is a smaller "local" neighborhood type hotel in the Yaletown area of Vancouver. It is situated among renovated warehouse buildings that now house a variety of restaurants and clubs. It is easy to spend a few days there and find a lot to see and do without needing a rental car. Cab fare from the airport was $40 (Canadian). The hotel is well-designed and the staff very friendly and helpful. We had a mix-up on our bill (someone elses bar tab) and it was immediately corrected, accompanied by sincere apologies. Our standard room was well-designed and outfitted. We would say there again - not the cheapest, but for a special short trip it was excellent. There is a bit of street noise as this area is very lively at night, but it was not a problem for us.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
From the Opus it is easy to walk over and catch the water taxi over to Granville Island - the Public market is simialr to Seattles Pike Place. A longer walk, but worth it is to Stanley Park. Vancouver is pedestrian friendly in this area of the city. Take a city bus to Capilano Suspension Bridge, just north of Vancouver. Busses only accept coins, but the driver let us on and we paid later when we had change!

Opus Hotel - where the action is
Nice luxury hotel. Decor is modern, stylish. Room was small but very nicely appointed. Very cool, fun neighborhood, Yaletown. Main drawback: the hotel is only 5 floors high, in a neighborhood with lots of nightlife. The neighborhood is noisy. I stayed in a 2nd floor room on the east side (Mainlaind St. pedestrian walk below the room), and beginning at 2am was awakened every 30-60 minutes by noisy bar patrons having loud drunken conversations. The problem was worse for me because I like to sleep with a window open; in fairness to the Opus, if you keep the windows closed, noise is not so much a problem; the windows are double-pane glass. If you want to be close to nightlife & youre up until 2am anyway--then this hotel is for you! Had dinner in the hotel restaurant--excellent & I recommend it. Excellent, well-equipped fitness room, with plenty of dumbbells, swiss ball, reasonable complement of machines. Staff was very courteous & helpful. At least 50 bars, coffee joints, and restaurants within a two-block radius. Easy walk to David Lam Park & a beautiful pedestrian walkway by which one can walk north to Stanley Park. This hotel was a 2nd choice--IMO, there are other well located high-rise hotels which have windows that open & place one 20 stories above street noise. If you dont like high-rise, then Opus hotel is recommended.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Take a ferry across False Creek to Granville Island or Varnier Park. Run every 15 minutes, cost $4/person rnd trip. Visit Maritime Heritage Musuem or Vacouver Museum at Varnier Park. Vanc. Mus. has great Vanc. history exhibits. (Most Vancoverites dont know Vancouver Museum exists -- they call it the "Space Center" because of a prominent space exhibition at the Museum) Board Ferry at the Aquatic Center, just north of the Burrard Bridge.

great location, great service and comfortable rooms ... stay here in Yaletown and cab to other areas. Dont waste your money on Robson hotels. Just a suggestion ;)
