Right Out of the 50’s

So you want a visit the Space Coast and looking for an adventure even when NASA isn’t launching rockets? Well check out this hotel. It’s right out of the 50’s. For a lone traveler, having three beds in two bedrooms, a living room, dining area and kitchen was a bit much. But what the heck! It was an an enjoyable place, convenient to the beach and with a little luch even with a view of Kennedy Space Center.

Older but kept up

My best friend and I stayed here for one night before our first ever cruise. The hotel was an older one but was maintained. Loved how when you walked out of your room you saw shrubs and trees (not the typical concrete). If in Cocoa Beach again I will most definately stay here again.

Price was great, 2 min walk to beach

Needs to advertise, as no view, beach front property. Walk to beach 2 min. Lush gardens outside rooms. Like the full kitchen, tho our coffee pot had not been cleaned or emptied. Our grill needed gas and should be free ice as in most hotels. Other than that, it was great and the price was right.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

great off season price for 2 bedroom suite. Trip to the grocery down the street got us dinner, and breakfast to fix in the full kitchen. Was great.

Great place to stay!

Had a wonderful stay for the weekend, didn’t have any room service as far as towels, linens, garbage.. We had to ask for more linens, towels, and garbage to be picked up. It’s a great place to stay with families, rooms are very spacious and comfortable.

I’ll go there again...

We reserved one of the pool side suites. When we arrived at our room, it was immediately evident that the air conditioning was broken. We went back to the office and they upgraded us to a beach suite. Same room, but much closer to the beach. We had a wonderful stay. The hotel was close to everything.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

There are several gas grills scattered throughout the courtyard area. This was a nice little perk.

Nice for the price

This hotel was nice for the price. The only downfall is there is not much parking available.

hidden treasure

We have a large family and have to book two rooms wherever we go, so we were very happy to find a two bedroom suite on the beach for less than two "economy priced" rooms at other chain hotels! The suite (which used to be two bedroom apartments) was large and clean, and it is always nice to have a kitchen. (The main living areas are all tile and being next to the beach the floors always felt sandy.) They should put a broom and dust pan in the rooms....

Bring groceries (there is a Winn Dixie and Publix down the street) don’t forget plastic bags and foil for leftover storage. There are several gas grills on site.

Just OK

We have stayed at this hotel a few times in the past and thought it was a great value. This time it looked dated and is starting to get a little run down. Needs a remodel. Still love the center courtyard "jungle" though, and it is still a good value for a two bedroom suite at the beach! Would stay again, just wish they would update.

Can’t wait to go back!!

The Hotel is a little older but, the area and the spot on the beach makes it perfect! The hotel was clean, the rooms were spacious. If you needed something the staff came right away. We were in the courtyard side. And they have plenty of grills! And I would choose it again! You have to walk a little to the beach but when you are there you are not near the congested area of the beach. Which made it really nice! We will go back and bring friends with us.

Traveler's tip

You are near the cocoa pier, ron jon surf shop, and shopping areas, dining, go-karts. Wal-mart is not to far if needed. Not to far from the casinos. A little bit of everything near you.

easy access to the beach

We really enjoyed our stay at the Wakulla Suites in Cocoa Beach Florida, There was easy access to the beach right on the hotel property and fast food places with walking distance if you did not want to cook in the small but well stocked Kitchen

Good affordable hotel walking distance from the beach.

The hotel is considerably larger than it appears at first, and is very easy to find, due to its ostentatious Hawaiian style theme. Finding the room can be a challenge, as rooms on both floors can begin with the number 2, whereas most hotels coordinate the room number with the floor number. For the price, the rooms are very spacious, and the beds are extremely comfortable, though the couches and chairs leave one wanting for a little more, and it is evident that said seating has been around for some time, as the chairs exhibit paint chipping and other aging signs, and the couches feel like their cushions weren’t quite made to fit them. The refridgerator is full sized, and came with two full ice trays. Lighting in the room is rather subdued. Our check in was supposed to be at 4, but room service didn’t finish cleaning until nearly 5:30, and we were not allowed up to our room in the meantime. The staff was friendly enough. The courtyard really shines, with a beautiful array of botanicals, most of which are labelled for information purposes, and there are multiple grills distributed throughout the area for cooking out with your friends or family. Shuffleboard is offered in the middle of the botanical garden, and there are two pools, one for small children, and one for everyone else. Checkout was at 11, typical for most hotels. All things considered, for the money, this is a good beachside hotel for those who aren’t looking for something too fancy.

Traveler's tip

Be sure to take advantage of the easy beach access and the close proximity to such attractions as the massive Ron Jon Surf Shop, and Cocoa Beach Surf Company. Be on the lookout for police, as they are everywhere, and are typically unforgiving. If you are a surfer like myself, this hotel is near some of the more popular surf breaks, and is about 30 minutes from the famous Sebastian Inlet, which in my humble Floridian opinion, is the best surf spot in Florida. Finally, enjoy yourself.

Just Awlful........will never stay again!

The room had sand fleas and my whole family got bitten up! The floors are just filthy and it was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in with our family. During our stay and when we checked out I told the front desk. They did not fix the problem for us......hopefully it will be fixed for the next family that checks in the room.

Not all That

The place has it’s goods and bads. The inner garden is really nice. The hotel is really a retirement home. They have the people who stay for months at a time. The long timers are nice and give you alot of ideas on what to do. The beach is nasty compared to Pensacola. The rooms are over priced for the quality you get. The parking it really tight and the traffic is horible. It felt as if we were staying in a run down apartment complex.

Take your kids to a nice place, they need it.

Significantly Ho-Hum

An adequate room, and used just as such. We arrived in the room at 10 pm, had to depart at 3:45 am to pick up our daughter (at another and nicer hotel) to take her off to get a flight early out of MCO. There was nothing wrong with this crowded little room, just that it looked like something out of the 1960s. At this price, I could have gotten a decent room in a Comfort Suites,Hampton or others of that ilk and a lot more amenities.

Wakulla Suites - Never Again!

This place is a DUMP. I think it was an old motel that had a coat of paint slapped on and lots of bushes and trees plopped down to hide the miserable place that it is. The "suite" is actually "below ground level". The bedroom windows are vertical slits along the upper edge of the walls that look out to the parking lot above. The room is cold and dank. There is a single telephone in the main room. The refrigerator door was duct-taped to hold the condiment bar in place. The bathroom, large enough to hold one person at a time had the mirror coating peeling off and the air-return vent falling out of its housing. One of the two toilet seat bars was missing so sitting on the toilet meant for a lopsided experience. Painted hardware on the vanity drawers were peeling. Shower water pressure produced a whistling sound that only ended with the end of the shower. The "Master" bedroom had faded wood peeling off the bottom of the hollow bedroom door from presumably years of previous guests kicking the door. The King bed made the room small and the ability to access the drawers to unload clothes into very challenging. Fortunately, we didn’t stay long enough to enjoy that lovely feature. The bed was rock hard, the pillows like large mints, no headboard and a threadbare comforter. One TV, 17". Run, don’t walk from this nightmare. The owners are apparently catering to the least discrimating traveller.

Stay someplace else. Anyplace else. A shelter even.

Would Recommend

Went there for a weekend. Its a good place for the money. Big rooms with Kitchen and everything. The rooms are far away from the beach though and there is breakfast at the hotel. We went to the omlate house where the waiting time was more than 30 minutes. We then had our breakfast in Waffle house nearby but we had to wait almost half an hour. Hotel is OK but there is nothing to do in that whole area especially in the evening time. We drived all the way to Orlando in the evening for fun and dinning. Would recommend the hotel but spending a day at Cocoa beach is actually a waste of time, I believe.

Nice Kitchenet, Should bring some food with you when returning to room as most of the places close quite early.

Wakulla Two Bedroom Suites

The rooms are big. It’s like staying in an apt. They just need more electrical outlets and shampooing their rugs is a must. The rest is pretty good. The outside grounds are well taken care of. The beds were comfortable and clean. The shower pressure was good although the drainage was slow. Free internet.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Next to Ron Jons Surf Store. Beach right behind the hotel. Starbucks next to hotel (great for coffee lovers.) Lots of great places to eat. Recommend Mrs. Apples Crab Shack.

A nice place to gather with friends

We met friends here not knowing what to expect-WOW a great place meet, gather and relax! There are all the basics you need in the kitchen to sereve meals and best of all there are several gas grills scatered aroung the tropical court yard. We enjoyed our stay and are already planning to return with a larger group of friend next year.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

What was nice is that we were able enjoy being outside and cooking a great dinner on a grill!!! Beats eating out every night.
