My stay in Old Montreal

The hotel is modern but in an old building so the combination is lovely. All of my needs were met and everyone was very polite and helpful. There is nothing bad I could say about this hotel. It’s beautiful and charming. The location was just a 5 minute walk from the metro and there are shops all around. I would definitely stay here again.

Montreal’s Finest

This hotel stay was the most important of my life. It is where I proposed to the love of my life. From the second we turned down the Rue St. Sulpice, we knew it was going to be a great stay. The hotel staff were extremely hospitible and friendly. The room was in great condition and was in a great location. I look forward to going back there. The hotel will always be ontop of my list.

Go to Gibby’s restuarant. Gibby’s is a famous steak/seafood restuarant with an amazing atmosphere. It is an old stable which has been converted into a lovely place. The food was amazing and the wine list was impressive (and well priced).

Perfect location, beautiful hotel

My wife and I were in Montreal to celebrate our anniversary. Our stay Le Saint Sulpice was perfect. Hotel is located on a cobblestoned street immediately behind the Notre Dame Cathedral in the Old District. About five minutes walk to the subway. Our suite was large, beautifully equipped (huge bathroom with separate bath and shower, kitchenette and sitting room) and overlooked the central courtyard. The included Breakfast buffet was excellent and the wait staff in the dining room were very well trained (helpful but not in your face). This excellent hotel combined with the delights of Montreal made our holiday a memorable one. We will be back to both Montreal and Le Saint Sulpice.

Wonderful suite for a family

We were very comfortable in our one bedroom suite. The room looked onto a courtyard and was very quiet while getting beautiful natural light. The kitchen area was perfect so that we could have dinner in a few nights (Atwater market is great for picking up fresh cheese, bread, fruit, etc.) -- they do the dishes for you! The bathroom was very comfortable as well and we enjoyed the L’Occitane bath products. The Murphy bed was quite comfortable, so we gave our kids the bedroom and were able to enjoy the rest of the suite in the evening. A nice surprise was the wonderful dinner we enjoyed at the hotel restaurant (lobster ravioli - yum!) and of course the delicious croissants at breakfast. The only drawback is that the old Montreal neighborhood is not quite as "lively" as other areas and doesn’t have a lot of authentic bakeries, small shops, etc. (It is more galleries and pricey restaurants that don’t seem to be where the locals go.) The hotel itself was perfect though and I would definitely stay there again.

Spacious and comfortable

Almost like a studio apartment at hotel rates, including delicious breakfast (great croissants!). Good bathroom and toiletries. Good room service and helpful concierge. If you like to stretch out and hate tiny hotel rooms, this is almost like home.

European style

This is between the Palais de Congress and the river, along which I got to sneak in a run one evening. They upgraded my room to the executive suite and when my wireless went down they brought a router to my room and set it up within 10min.

Very Impressive

My wife and I decided to take a few day mini vacation in old Montreal and booked a room at the San Sulpice. We were very impressed with the hotel, beautiful grounds and the attentive service. The room overlooking the courtyard was more than a room but a living area and seperate bedroom.and was like having an apartment. It was also extremly quiet and we could not hear any traffic noise. The location was also a plus. I would recommend this hotel highly for either business or pleasure

About 3 stars, barely

Charming little hotel in a good location in the Old Port. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, so that makes me want to be gentle with this review. But if the staff hadn’t been so great, I would have been more eager to pick some nits: breakfast at the restaurant is dismal (our worst meals in Montreal); at peak times the staff is simply overwhelmed and confused, like no one is in charge; and the pull-out beds in the suites are horribly uncomfortable--we slept on the floor to avoid back injuries. This is really a 2.5 star hotel bolstered by a pleasant staff and a quickie cosmetic makeover.

The Science Center is very close, and is the best reason to stay in this hotel. My son wanted to spend his entire vacation there.

Third Visit - Still Fabulous

We recently spent our 25th anniversary at the St. Sulpice - our third visit in recent years. Each visit reinforces the fact that this is a wonderful property. The rooms are extremely comfortable, the location absolutely cannot be beat and the staff is delightful. We are definitely hoping to make this our anniversary tradition.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

We have stayed on upper level rooms with balconies in the past and loved looking over the restaurant below. This year stayed on the first floor with a small terrace. Although it was close to the Terrace Restaurant it was delightful. The 18+foot ceiling made the suite feel even more spacious. It’s a great place to stay.

Nice hotel but room could be cleaner

Overall we liked the location and the hotel, and staff was very friendly. Continental breakfast was excellent and included with the price of the room. However, the common areas (lobby) were nicer than the room, so we were a little disappointed when we entered the room; our 1 BR suite was dusty and the furniture in the room was not as up to date and nice as the lobby decor. It is probably time to renovate the rooms.

loved the amenities, character, location and staff!

This was a wonderful boutique hotel on all counts. I would definitely pick this hotel again as my first choice if/when returning to Montreal. In fact, the location, and comforts, and amenities here make it worth looking forward to another trip back to Montreal. The staff, too, never missed a beat. They were extremely helpful and accommodating with any special needs or inquiries we had.

great location, marvelous staff

This hotel is in a perfect location for both "old Montreal" and chic, new Montreal; we got about entirely on foot, and the staff provided wonderful recommendations for where we should go to eat, to shop, and to learn about the city. It was incredibly easy to drive in and out of the city from the hotel. Parking is extra, and not cheap, but dispensing with the car while in the city was absolutely the way to go, and the valet service made it easy. The accommodations are very stylish and comfortable, the continental breakfast ample and elegant. We were entirely pleased and would definitely stay here again.

We spent half a day on old Montreal and half a day in the district between Rue St. Laurent and Rue St. Denis above Chinatown. Our teenagers found the balance perfect, and we felt comfortable letting them wander shops and cafes on their own.

Great Location, Better Service

Great location near the seaway, bike rentals, restaurants, shops and tourist attractions. Immaculately clean and expertly run hotel. My only grievance is with the complimentary continental breakfast. We booked two rooms for our family of 5. Upon arrival we were given coupons for breakfast for two adults each morning. The children were not free and my two teenage sons were full price. The restaurant had a hard time keeping up with the few patrons who were in the restaurant. We found other breakfast destinations that were better and cheaper. Our breakfast experience kept us from patronizing the dining room for any other meals.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Atwater Market is a great place to stop for fresh produce, a great cup of coffee and the best chocolate croissants.

Great experience

This was our first time to Montreal and we made a perfect choice by staying at Le Saint Sulpice. The location is great: next to the Basilica, Old Montreal, the Quays, and just a bike ride away from Mount Royal. The staff is top-notch: very helpful, pleasant and polite. The continental breakfast included in our stay was well stocked with a great assortment of fresh fruits, cheeses, breads, and cereals.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Try to get a room overlooking the restaurant and garden. The room windows open in a veranda style allowing you to pull your seats right up to the window to enjoy the tranquility of the breeze and fountain during the day when the restaurant is not full.

Elegant and Convenient

Centrally located behind the Notre Dame Basilica, this elegant hotel is a winner in every respect. We were upgraded from our Expedia reservation to a commodious suite with a view of their garden restaurant. It is comfortable, convenient, and congenially staffed. We’d stay there again in a heartbeat!

Best Hotel Ever

The room was enormous for the price, the hotel employees were super friendly and helpful, taxis were easy to get, and the location put you right in the center of old port with the carriages going by. If you wanted to be away from the street noise you could retire to the seperate bedroom and the sound was gone. I love everything about this hotel!

Great location in Old Montreal

What a fabulous and attractive hotel steps from the Basilica of Notre Dame. The balcony, though small, was a nice way to experience a relaxed outdoor view of the area.

Traveler's tip on dining

We walked to an excellent restaurant for dinner at DNA one night that seemed to be filled with locals. The food was creative and delicious and the wine was half price between 5-7 PM. We would return in a heartbeat. Not a tourist trap restaurant.

2nd time here - not as great as I remembered!

I stayed here about 5 years ago and loved it! But this time, I found the hotel to be a bit dated. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite which was very spacious. But alot of the furniture was chipped and the fabrics were stained. The bathroom was very spacious - just not as luxurious as some of the newer hotels. This hotel is in a fabulous location in the old city - and we did receive a very good price for the suite. As for service - the front desk staff always seemed pleasant. But the valets and bell men were never very friendly. This is the type of hotel you want to be greeted at every time you walk in - and that rarely happened! I’m not sure If I would go back.
