Great location!
The hotel Rimini was a good hotel in my book mostly for its location, its friendly staff, the great breakfast and breakfast room. The hotel was lovely and our room was small (as most European hotels are), but our bed was quite uncomfortable - it is past time for them to replace that mattress. BUT, I would stay there again and recommend it to anyone. It was on a quite side road so if you dont like road traffic when you sleep, it is a plus. There are lots of restaurants and shops nearby. The hotel is an old castle converted into a hotel and it has some real old-world charm to it. It was literally a 1/2 block from the Roma Termini which made its location ideal for us as the termini is a great source for food, shopping, as well as train and metro use.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Taking the train from the airport to the Roma Termini was great, very convenient, being near the termini is a great place to locate yourself in Rome as you can get to anywhere from there by foot, metro, bus or train. Recommend the tours that are offered for the Colloseum and Forum (people stand outside & ask you if you want to take a tour). Not cheap (44 EUR for a couple) but worth it. No standing in the lines, and our guide in the forum brought all those ruins lying around to life for us.

Not Impressed
You get what you pay for. Caution: When you get in the elevator with more than one other person, please hold your breath, for the space is extremely limited. (3 person capacity when it is really for 2). There are no escape hatches or ventilation in the extremely small box (elevator). The room was clean and the air conditioning was great, but the overall look of the hotel is pretty dumpy. The hotel lobby guy at the front desk is pretty grumpy. Please note that when you leave the hotel for an outing, you MUST leave your hotel key with the lobby guy. This is TOTALLY OUTRAGEOUS! Although our stay was just above unsatisfactory, I would NOT recommend Hotel Rimini. Your mind would be more at ease if you would have just shelled out a few extra bucks for a better hotel.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
I have to say that the Hotels proximity to Termini was GREAT! Nevertheless, I strongly urge one to book a nicer hotel ie, The hotel seen in the movie "Jumpers" with Hayden Christensen) is a phenomenal hotel that is right near Termini station and Via Nazionale with GREAT shopping picks (CLASS for the ladies and LEONE for leather). No need to pay for the bus HOWEVER, there are people who periodically board to verify your ticket. You should just get the weekly bus/subway ticket which is $16 euro.

hotel rimini- excellent value and location
Small 400 year old hotel. Clean, inexpensive, located next to main train station and metro stops. 1/2 block plus up to 1 block inside the train station depending upon wher you want to go. Train and Metro are easy to use after the ist attempt. Staff at the hotel were helpful and friendly but not pushy. Breakfast was good with a wide choice available. Walking distance to many sites. Elevator was small and creaky but great after a long day of sight seeing. Aircondioning at no extra charge. Not 5 star, but a great place to stay and sightsee from.
