Friendly and neat
excellent place to stay. The staff are very friendly and Courtious.I definitly recommend the place.

No sea viewing rooms (only suites)
The room I booked had a poor view and when I asked for a sea view, only suites had sea view. I wanted a sea view so I paid extra charge for the suite. Apart from the slightly loud AC and the bathtub shower leakage, the suite wasnt bad (specially the view).
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Souq wagef is worth visiting. It is a 60 years old shopping area with preserved traditional shopping life style. Probably the best place to buy gifts and souvenirs in Doha. There are some nice cafes as well.

Go somewhere else
This hotel is old, the rooms cramped and the service sub-par. First, there’s no bar, and no alcohol service. Second, although it’s near the ocean, you’re actually stuck in the middle of hotel wasteland. Second, I got a room where the "Moevenpick" sign obstructed my view of...hotel wasteland. Third, the hotel security guard made a point to sternly say "hello, sir" and stare me down as I walked to my room, because I guess with a beard and long-ish hair, i didn’t look like the hotel’s usual clientèle. Fourth, the room was crowded, small, old and claustrophobic. And I only spent about 12 hours in the room for a layover. So, with all the great hotels nearby, I definitely do not recommend the Movenpik. If you want another reason to NOT stay there, when you ask for a taxi, they give you their expensive hotel service taxi rather than calling you a local taxi, which would be much cheaper. So, forget this place. I’ll never stay there again.
