Great quality for the money we had to spend. It was very clean quiet, beds were comfortable.

Good value for the price. Clean enough, good location for HSU parents. Great coffee accross the street.

Would not return

Room carpet was damp. I was told it was a non-smoking room when I checked it; it wasn’t. Also, the toilet was stopped up when I arrived; called the front desk. Was told someone would come; they came an hour later. He said it was too much toilet paper.

Not a family place to stay!

The location though close to McDonalds was far from being family friendly, outside were unsavory characters parked outside hotel or walking around. There was loud noises and foul voices during the night, the hallway and room stank, we had to ask for another blanket, the one on the bed was meant for a dog (also bedspread), took over 2 hours to get it. Needless to say, we spent half the trip at someone elses house. Never again.

There’s a Best Western a bit further, looks a lot better/safer.

Not happy

requested a nonsmoking room but got a smoking room that reeked of smoke and gave me a sinus infection.

Super 8 Arcata

My room was nice and big, with a desk, table and chairs and a sofa. I would have given it all 4’s, but I had an issue with housekeeping. I stayed at the hotel 3 nights. On the first day after I arrived I had the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door. It was 1 o’clock when I left the room, and I called the front the desk and asked that housekeeping service the room, and the clerk said the would. Then the clerk called back and confirmed. When I got back that evening, the room was not cleaned. The did show up the next. On my last day checkout time is 11 AM and at 10:30 AM who was knocking on the door? Yep it was housekeeping asking if I’ll be staying another day. (The "nice" way of saying "Get Out") The other issue I saw was the toliet seat had been patched up and was at least 10 years old. Geeze, spend $15 and put a new seat on. But other than that, it was a good bargain for a nice big room. I’d recommend it - just don’t trust housekeeping to show up.

Take the drive down to the Avenue of the Giants and up along the coast to Oregon. Beautiful scenery.

The motel and room were clean enough, but the bed was the least comfortable of any of the 5 motels where we stayed on this trip. Continental breakfast was just average.

flea bag motel

first off, we booked 2 nights, but it was so bad, we did not stay the second night, and we know we still have to pay for that. we showed up at 3 pm to check in. they said none of the rooms were ready yet. and could we come back in an hour. which was already inconvenient for us. so, we drove around for that hour and came back. checked in. i wanted to take a shower. i started the water, and waited and waited and waited....no hot water. my husband went to the front desk to complain about no hot water. the man at the desk said that maybe everyone else had already used up the hot water for the day, and we should be able to take a shower in the morning. GROSS. there was mildew in the bathroom, and on the window sill. and, we get a wonderful view of the macdonalds drive thru line. very noisey place. and, there are homeless people all over the place with signs, and begging for change. this whole area was a runned down part of town, it seems. we will never stay there again. and do wish we could get our money back on the next day that we did not stay.

dont go anywhere around here with your children. take them down the road some, into eureka itself. they have a fort, and a zoo the kids might like.

Comfortable and convenient

The hotel was quiet, clean and service was very good. The hotel does need some updating, but appears it is heavily used because of it’s location to nearby college. There were restaurants nearby and it is just off the main highway. Slept well, no noise issues.

sleep tight don’t let the bed bugs bite!!

Stayed here during a recent visit (3 day) to Humboldt State UNiversity. Immediately noticed that the condition of the motel was not too good upon arrival, old everything! The whole place just smelled funky! The worst part was that on our last night, we discovered bed bugs in 1 of our beds!! After notifying the clerk, he did move us to another room for the night, but we did not sleep well! He also said "yes, we have had problems with the bed bugs. We spray for them, but they are very hard to get rid of!" YUCK!! Would not reccomend this motel!

the amazing toilet paper room

well i booked this hotel becouse it had a little bit better reviews than the others in the area-price range, the hotel was in good condition and it was a good sized room with cold breakfast. nice place to sleep nothing fancy, my room did have a wonderful surprize though 8 boxes of 96 rolls of toilet paper! most would probly think of it as an inconvinioce but i found it rather hillarious and used it to make a huge fort, a toilet paper cristmas tree, walls to jump through, ohh i had a blast with that! on the third or fourth day they came and got it from me, ohh and room service with do not disturb sign on and yelling no when they knock still came barging in so that was a sligh inconvinionce but all in all a decent place to stay.

the redwood forest with elk viewing is alota fun, and dont forget to take a nice drive up the road to the beautiful beaches on the cliffs with nice trails to wonder about on really fun area

We will stay there again.

My son, daughter and I were in Humboldt County to take care of my other daughter’s affairs after she passed away. We chose Super 8 because of location and it was reasonably priced. We were very pleased with the rooms and friendly staff. Our rooms were clean and comfortable, and the internet connections were important to us. We stayed five nights, and we will stay at Super 8 in Arcata on our next visit.

Traveler's tip on dining

We recommend "Lost Coast Brewery" in Eureka, and "Carmella’s" in Arcata. Both are great places with great food.

Best value in the city

It is the same room that we paid double in other hotels in Arcata when we have taken our son to HSU. The toilet seemed to run for several hours and we couldn’t get it to stop and they had no one to even come up and look at it, which was a little frustrating and annoying, it eventually stopped and worked fine. Even with that and no complimentary breakfast, it was still a good value.

Good Place to stay for the cost

Good place for a stay if you are looking for a place to stay at night while visiting the area. Hotel fulfilled our expedia special requests without any problems. Friendly hotel staff gave us information and tips on where to eat while visiting northern CA. Eureka, the Redwoods and other points of interest all close.

Visit the beautiful small town of Trinadad just north of Arcata. Good ocean views, nice people and neat little shops. Visit the tiny harbor and pier and have lunch at the Seascape Restaurant there.

Very dissapointed with this hotel

We stayed 3 nights here, the room was not vacuumed once. One day after maid service we had no towels. The beds were only straightened out, not actually made up.

Good location, comfortable

The best thing about the hotel was it’s location on the north side of Arcata close to the airport and just across the street from a convenient plaza. It was easy to get back & forth to Eureka, etc. The room was comfortable and the hotel was quiet. I appreciated the coffee in the room because the pots were always out at the front office area!

Not thrilled

Yes, I know it’s just a Super 8 Motel, but, still, I expected a little bit more than what we ended up with. Receptionist demanded an additional deposit when we arrived although we already had paid through Expedia - no explanation why. She also was verging on rude when we asked for recommendations / directions for dinner. Room was barely adequate, we passed up breakfast - looked pathetic in the windy, kind of dirty and small lobby. Place generally not well maintained, grounds full of weeds, some lights burnt out in hallway, just kind of run down. Room had everything they advertised, but the cheapest, lowest common denominator possible. Find a bed and breakfast in Eureka - it’ll be a better value for the money.

Don’t miss the Samoa Cookhouse on the nearby island of Samoa. Historic lumberman’s cookhouse, all you can eat, great food. NOT to be missed. Inexpensive too.

Check-in and check-out were efficient and friendly. The room was a bit musty-smelling but everything worked and the beds were comfortable. This is a really good room for the money.
