A Have-To Hotel
This is the only hotel in the town. It is okay, definitely aging, but served it’s purpose. The hot tub wasn’t real hot and adjoins the pool. Water is splashed back and forth between the two. One of the hotel beds was new, or fairly so, and had a pillow-ish top. The other was definitely old and very hard. We did sleep surprisingly well, however ... once the elephants above us went to bed. This is NOT the hotel for you if you value privacy. The walls and floors are thin - or at least they do not block sound well. It was very noisy until about 11 p.m. The breakfast was the usual cereal, sweets, and bagels with coffee, juice, and fruit. Kind of a nightmare for low-carb eaters like us, but served a purpose and held us over until we could eat something else later. We thought it was too spendy for the quality, but on check-out ended up paying less than we had reserved it for. A very nice surprise and much closer to what we would expect for what we got. We rated this in the middle because we’ve stayed in worse, and we’ve stayed in better all for about the same price.
Traveler's tip on dining
Chetek has some nice little places to eat. The local cafe is fine. The Kwik trip near the hotel has hot food and donuts, but the Chetek Bakery is outstanding!! We used to live in Chetek and miss the bakery very much. It truly is one of the best.
