Hotel was okay, but showing it’s age
We stayed here on the recommendation of a friend who had stayed there in previous years. The service from the staff was very good. The outside of the hotel was being redone. It looks good on the outside but the inside is showing it’s age. The bottom of the bathroom door in our room was coming apart, the chairs in the breakfast area were loose and wobbly. On one tray of doughnuts they were re-using a plastic subway tray cover. Our friend mentioned it had gone downhill in the last year. Whatever they are using to clean the rooms has a very strong presence and was almost too much for us to stay.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
For the price it was okay for a place to stay but don’t expect much, unless they are planning on updating the inside of the hotel too.

Pros/Cons
Pros: next to interstate, easy on/off access, clean, good pool/sauna and cheap price Cons: I would be uncomfortable staying in an outside room, especially at the back of the hotel. It seemed dark and unsafe. The hotel atrium is dark, so it does not give a welcoming feel. Breakfast was adequate for the price one pays to stay there. I guess it is just like the saying goes, "You get what you pay for."

Going downhill fast...
We’ve stayed here on 2 or 3 trips thru Norman, but we will NOT stay here again. I guess the place was already getting run down and experiencing service problems before--maybe we were in a better mood then!--but this time it was too much. The front desk service is hit-or-miss, at best. The workout room is like a bad joke--I had to bear down with all my weight and push like a mule to make the "automatic" treadmill belt run! Seriously, everything in there was broken. Basically, this just isn’t the place it used to be.
Traveler's tip on dining
House of Hunan is quite good if you want a reasonably "authentic" Chinese meal in Norman.
