Perfect Location

The Sofitel is great for adults .. the concierge and all staff were always friendly and helpful and we felt very safe; the Metro is just a short block away; the White House, the WH Visitor Center, and Old Ebbitt Grill are within several blocks; perfect hotel location.

Great Location and Great Hotel

The staff was excellent and extremely helpful. The room was big, even though we had a view of the alley :) The hotel location is excellent for sightseeing. The restaurant was great and reasonably priced. Loved this hotel!

White House Locale

If you want to sleep close to the President, this is the place to be. Staff was extremely friendly and attentive. Restaurant is a bit pricey but good and convenient.

Amazing hotel

The staff was extremely courteous, quick delicious room service all hours of the day and night. Doors always opened for you with a friendly smile and greeting. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great place to stay with a great staff, extremely clean rooms and the best maid service I’ve ever seen at a hotel. Very impressed by everything here down to the smallest item. Would definitely stay again if we ever go to DC again.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Skip the taxis and get a Metro pass with a map the first day you’re there. Saves tons of time, money and frustration. There’s stops close to all the main attractions. The longest walk we had to take was to see all the outside memorials but that was worth it none the less.

Great hotel, great location, great service

This is a great hotel within walking distance to the White House, Smithsonian and monuments. The Metro station is one block away. The quality of the room was fantastic and the service was excellent. Will definitely stay here again.

The service is outstanding!

The service cannot be beat. Most comfortable beds of any hotel we have ever stayed. Would go back to this hotel next time we are in DC.

Will definitely return!

This hotel was extremely close to all the Washington D.C. tourist attractions. We walked or used the Metro...nothing else. Our room was very clean and the beds were the most comfortable we had ever slept on! The fitness center had everything we needed. The staff was extremely accommodating and we were treated to L’occitane toiletries. On site restaurants were a bit pricy, but there are many other options within several blocks. Check out Potenza’s (Italian), Georgia Browns (Southern), and Ella’s Pizza. We will definitely return to the Sofitel!

Wedding gift

I made a reservation at the last minute for my son and his bride (justice of the peace wedding with a church wedding to follow next year). The hotel upgraded the room and provided free cocktails at the bar and chocolate covered strawberries in the room. The couple was thrilled on all counts.

Very comfortable stay but pricey

Our room was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was very spacious. Food very pricey. Nice lounge and outdoor space for eating and drinking. Close enough to walk to all monuments and the mall. Would suggest tourists buy tickets for the double decker buses. Good way to get around. Tickets good for 2 days getting on and off where you please.

We would highly recommend this hotel. The staff was very helpful and our room was clean, spacious, and quiet. An added plus was the large, HD television. The location was outstanding, just a block from the White House. We would definitely stay here again.

Very Impressive Hotel

My husband and I were extremely impressed with this hotel. Beautiful!!!!!! Staff was very friendly and accomadating. Couldn’t ask for better service. This hotel has the best location. Just around the corner from the White House and within walking distance of everything!

Great for business or leisure, Sofitel rates high

Stayed 3 nights in mid-May, 2009. Great location for business and touring. Hotel employees very professional yet friendly and extremely helpful. Nice Italian wine shop across the street, but didn’t sell corkscrew. Housekeeping brought us one of those t-style corkscrews that don’t work worth a darn and it broke off in the cork. Not a problem, concierge took it to the bar and they opened it for us. No view out the window. Room decent size, bathroom very nice with both soaking tub and separate shower, great amenities, too. It would be nice to have two easy chairs instead of one and the desk chair, which wasn’t adjustable. Was nice to have a large LCD HDTV, and, unlike most business hotels, to have a number of HD channels on the satellite. It was about a mile or so to the Mall, so we got a decent workout walking to sites. Lobby bar very elegant, and outside bar very popular. Would stay here again.

Would Stay Here Again

This is a great hotel with friendly staff, clean rooms and an excellent location. We ate twice in the lobby bar. The food, service and atmosphere were good. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable however we wish we had a view to the street instead of the inside of the building. Be sure to request an outside facing room with a view of the street. We would definately stay here again the next time we visit D.C.

Great Place to Stay

The Sofitel in Washington, DC was phenomonal. Besides being in a very convenient location to all of the monuments and museums, the hotel itself is very inviting and quiet. The hotel staff was very friendly and accomodating. The room was a decent size for a city hotel, with large windows and a gorgeous, spacious marble bathroom. Usually I have problems with hotel walls being very thin and hearing my neighbors, but I did not hear a thing at the Sofitel! Room service was expeditious and the food was great and not overly expensive. I don’t think I would stay anywhere else in the DC area and would highly recommend this to hotel to others.
