Good value, but need to drive to local restaurants & hot spots.
The Orange Tree Resort had some very nice, remodeled rooms. Keep in mind, that that there are sections of the hotel that you have to walk really far to your room or get the bell desk to take you to your room via golf cart. Opt to get a room very close to the parking lots. The hotel is also not situated close to local restaurants and the "Old Town Scottsdale" area. You will definately need to drive or take a cab. Overall, we got a very nice room at a great value. The property is really nice and had a classy, nostalgic look of 50s and 60s architecture. The service was great and the tempurpedic mattress in our recently renovated room was very comfortable.
Old Town is close and so is the Scottsale Fashion Square Mall. A great mall with new shops opening all the time. This mall is huge and has a ton of great stores like H&M, Armani Exchange, Barneys of New York, Luis Vuitton, Banana Republics Flagship store, Anthropologie, etc. and not to mention all the great restaurants in and around the mall.

The most impressive room so far...definitely the best!
We received a newly renovated room at the Orange Tree. From the moment we walked into the room we knew it was above average! The full sized fridge, granite tops everywhere, the brand new king sized memory foam mattress and exqusite bedding made our stay the most comfortable of the four hotels we tried in Scottsdale and Flagstaff. My son loved the huge livingroom, and I loved the fact that I could see everything had been meticulously cleaned without leaving that "cleaner" smell anywhere. Even the microsuede couch had been thoroughly vacuumed for our visit! The bathroom was magnificent with low-flow toilets and showerheads, the jacuzzi would have definitely been a "water waster" if we had chosen to use it (room for two)! The best news was that our Expedia pricing on this room made it the least expensive (by half!) of the worst hotel in which we stayed in Scottsdale! We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants quality. The only downside to this hotel was the distance we had to go to the pool, which was also the best pool we have ever used....salt water...no stinking of chlorine for the rest of the day!! There is nothing bad to say about the Orange Tree Golf Resort!!
Arizona is always an interesting trip, whenever the season....make sure you are ready for the heat! We opted for the fall so it is like our summer here but we apparently missed an out of season heat wave the week before. Always check your rate calendars that the hotels provide for themselves and Expedia...I like to look at the hotels site to compare notes and then go to Expedias revues. Prices seem to change on a daily basis for larger, luxury chains and private hotels, but the cheap ones ( 2 stars or less) never change. They are never worth the money when you can find 4 star or better for nearly the same.....start about 3 months in advance to get the best deals on your hotel searches.
