Solid Facility

The hotel was very nice and the service was good. I only question the cost of the room. If it was not a business trip, I would have selected a cheaper alternative.

Where else in Tacoma?

We have stayed here about 5 or 6 times. Everytime we had a room over the water. It is beautiful! On our last trip we had a room over the parking lot. I called the front desk to ask for a room over the water and they were very quick to honor our request. The evening reception was nice. I love having the waterfront trail for a good walk.

Wonderful hotel on the waterfront of Tacoma

The staff was very friendy and efficient. We enjoyed the easy access to restaurants by walking along the waterfront. The rooms were clean and quiet, the views fantastic and the breakfast convenient and yummy.

Customer Service and Cleanliness

When we got into the room the bathroom sink and trash was not cleaned at all. We had everything in there from the previous guest. After request they cleaned it while we where out dinning. I asked to check the beds too, they did not. Not good customer service from the front office manager!! I also told them we stayed for wedding anniversary. no congrads, no upgrade - just nothing at all - poor performance

Fantastic location. Would definately stay there again.

Built on the Tacoma waterfront, the Silver Cloud Inn offers great views of the Sound. Our room was clean, comfortable, quiet (there are train tracks nearby, but we weren’t really disturbed by them.) and well-maintained. The continental breakfast offered a wide variety of breakfast selections. We were fortunate to visit Tacoma on a particularly gorgeous week-end in April, so we took advantage of the two mile path along the waterfront at least twice a day. We have stayed in Tacoma many times. This was by far our favorite hotel.

What great front desk service--and a beautiful view!

The front desk clerk--I think his name was William--was so helpful and polite, without being pushy. Recommended a great restaurant close by for dinner--the "Lobster Shop", then called to make a reservation for us while we got settled in our room. The seafood was delicious, and our view of the water was too! This hotel is literally on top of pilings in the water of the sound, so the view out the window was spectacular--lots of ocean and seabirds. Not noisy at night, even though there are train tracks nearby--we were situated on the 2nd floor mid-way from the entrance to the other end of the hotel. Breakfast was plentiful--waffles, oatmeal, hard-boiled eggs, cereal, orange juice, hot drinks, etc.--and a lovely room with lots of tables to eat in. All in all, a wonderful place to stay!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The Tacoma Glass Museum is nearby. Beautiful displays of art, and a large live glass-blowing studio with theater seating. Artists come from around the country to work for a few days in this room with multiple furnaces and kilns. A museum employee narrates the activities and answers questions from the audience. Fascinating to watch for all ages!

The View

The view was awesome. The room was a bit cold when we arrived, but the overall experience was very pleasing. I would like to recommend more of a variety of fruit during the serving of the breakfast.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

A wonderful treat after working all week.

We chose this hotel for the jacuzzi tub. The room also had a view of the water. We had an extremely restful and relaxing evening. I would gladly stay here again.

A relaxing setting

I had a very nice time in Tacoma and the hotel and staff were very inviting. I felt safe and secure, as I was traveling alone. I slept great! The housekeeping staff is a little too efficient, though. My untouched, free newspaper was already picked up when I returned from my day-long meeting, but I hadn’t had a chance to read it first. Also, for longer than a day visitors, it’s ok to leave their once used bar of soap so as not to waste supplies. Overall, nice hotel! Thanks.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Check out the Tacoma Maritime Museum and take a drive down 30th Street. Beautiful houses!

Great location

This is a nice hotel but they do charge more than is justified for the quality because of the location. However, our stay was pleasant and uneventful. Breakfast included and you could make your own waffles which was fun. I would stay again if needed. Get a room farther out on the pier so that train noise not as noticable. Bed very comfy.

We are disappointed to hear one of our guests left without having an exceptional stay. We work very hard to minimize the noise created by the trains that pass the hotel from time to time. Silver Cloud donated a wayside horn to the city of Tacoma that sounds a warning horn at the train crossing, eliminating the need for a train to blow its horn as it passes through. We also have several room types located further out over the water which we recommend to any guests that may be light sleepers. These rooms have an outstanding view of the water and are furthest from the street and train tracks. We also insure all our heating systems are fully operationally and at a comfortable temperature upon arrival. In the winter season when the room is unoccupied, the thermostat is set at 65 degrees and may be adjusted one a guest checks in the room to his or her comfort level.

Favorite Seattle Hotel

We stay at this hotel every time we visit Seattle (approximately 6 times a year). Here’s a short list of our favorite things about the stay: the complimentary breakfast consisting of waffles, beagles, fruit, yogurt, cereals, pastries, coffee, tea, milk and juices; the 42 inch TV in guest rooms (although it would be nice if they’d run a digital signal instead of analog); the toiletry products are by Aveda; rooms are always clean; king sized beds...As you can see, there is a lot to like about this hotel. We’ll definitely be back!

Traveler's tip on shopping

There is a Nordstrom Rack store about 5 min from the hotel. You are about 5-10 min. depending on traffic away from Bellevue Square which has The Cheesecake Factory, PF Chang’s, Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse and Magiano’s Italian Restaurant all either in the Mall, or right outside it.

Great Views!

This is a wonderful hotel on the waterfront in Tacoma. Much more convenient to restaurants and pedestrian walks near the Puget Sound -- than its larger cousin, Seattle, about 23 miles away. No traffic problems, free parking!

We loved the hotel

This hotel was convenient although out of the city traffic. We had free parking and they had a shuttle service which took us to museums, etc. We had a nice room with lovely view on the water. Free breakfast was nice and was very convenient to a number of restaurants right up the street. I would definitely stay there again.

Nice waterfront location

Parking is very tight-some spaces are virtually unuseable.

Traveler's tip on dining

There are a few very good restaurants as well as several family oriented ones right on the waterfront.
