Very Nice and Convenient

The Arora International Gatwick is very nice and convenient for those traveling with an overnight layover and for those catching a connecting flight from Gatwick in London the next day. For the bus ride from Heathrow to Gatwick; catch the National Express and get a round trip ticket (good for 30 days so you can use it on your way back). You’ll need to call the Arora for shuttle service from Gatwick to the hotel. Be sure to ask the hotel desk personnel about shuttle service in the morning if you have an early flight to make arrangements for a wake up call and to be sure there will be a shuttle driver available. Gatwick has train service to London near by but no access to the tube so getting around can be a little pricey. The hotel accommodations were very comfortable and clean. There is a pub and restaurant located off the hotel lobby that is very reasonable and very good if your exhausted and don’t want to venture out.

The trains woke me up in the night, but otherwise, the hotel was good

Prices of food and drink too expensive....but room service was good....when we were checking out, we were charged for stuff we never took, but upon review of the bills (signatures etc) it was cleared up...the train track parallel to the hotel was a bit of a bother, as the noise was constant, but got used to it after a while...cards to access the elevator always gave some trouble, but worked after about 4 tries...

Traveler's tip on shopping

a short trip by train to oxford circuis, soho and camden gives for a much better shopping experience

We’ll definitely come back

We stayed here two nights and enjoyed it very much. First of all there is a shuttle from the Gatwick airport that costs 2.50 pounds which was very convinient, but you have to call them when you arrive to let them know you have to be picked up. There is a courtesy telephone at the pick up location. When we arrived at the hotel we were impressed with the cleanliness and the friendlines of the staff. Our room was very nice and clean and then beds were quite comfortable. The bathroom has a separate tub and shower which was quite nice to relax in. There is a train station right at the bottom of the hotel. Yet there is no noise coming from the train. Overall, the hotel was modern and very nice to stay in. We would definitely stay there again.

Excellent value for money

Very nice relaxing atmosphere. I stayed before, a year ago. Had a good meal in the ’pub’. Went to the main area by the water feature and chilled out with a beer. Nice friendly and helpful staff. I got the shuttle from and to the airport, which cost 5 pounds each way, but I’m sure it was much cheaper than a taxi. Would definitely stay again next time I have a lay-over. Overall, excellent value for the price I paid.

Traveler's tip on shopping

Just a couple of minute’s walk from the mall.

Worth every penny

Stayed a full week in UK--this by far the nicest hotel I had. Earns all 4 stars, in my book--convenient to Gatwick and railway, nice pub, excellent service, clean and spacious room. As good as any Marriott or Hilton stateside. If any gripe, it is the $12/hr for high speed internet. Would have liked a better TV as well. But in general, I found these the norm in England, regardless of where I stayed.

Better than others in the area

I’ve stayed in quite a few other hotels in the area in preparation for early flights out of Gatwick airport the next morning and the Aurora is, by far, the best one that I’ve stayed at so far. The only issue that I had, which was resolved with no fuss, was a parking charge. There was not enough parking on the hotel property, so I was told to park in the lot next to the hotel. The next morning when checking out, they tried to charge me for parking. Once I explained what the night shift had directed me to do, they immediately dropped the charge. All in all, a good stay. Far better accomodations than other hotels that I’ve stayed at in the area.

Traveler's tip on dining

If you’re not overly thrilled by the choice of food in the hotel, there are a few restaurants about 500m away.

A little Americana Before Going Home

My family spent nearly two weeks in Eurpean hotels in London, Rome, and Paris. The Arora was a bit of "American-Like" comfort for our final night before heading home. The price is fantastic, and the little convenient shop on the first floor was the only place in all of our journey where the pricing of a can of Coke (~$1.50) didn’t make us gasp (we typically paid $4-13 for Coke.) The ladies at the front desk were very kind and helpful. The only ding I give the hotel is its shuttle service to/from Gatwick airport. We paid $100 in taxi services due to its inconvenient nature (infrequent and limited seating.) Given the closeness to the airport, I would have expected a run every 15-20 minutes versus once per hour.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

The price is pretty amazing. You get 100 times the comfort and quality of a room for less than half the price of a London hotel. If you don’t mind taking an hour trip to/from London everyday, it may not be a bad option for your vacation. (Take the Gatwick Express. The Southern line takes more than twice the time to London for the same price.)

Comfortable accomodations.

I was very satisfied with my overnight stay. Especially the availability of shuttle service to and from Gatwick Airport. Good restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Public, shared internet available for a nominal fee.

Nice place to stay, easy access from Gatwick airport

Very clean and convenient. For the people who want to enjoy the city life during the day time and chill out in the comfortable room, it is a very good option. You can access the hotel from platform 2 of Crawley rail station (coming from the city and airport). Staff were very friendly and informative. they have a little convenient store on-site which is very handly. We were told that most of the guests are airline crew. So they have shuttle to the airport (cost 2.50 pounds) starting pretty early in the morning as well. We had early flight so it was very handy to have that option. (Taxi cost too much to most of the nearby hotel without shuttle service.) Most of the hotel in London are old and small, but this hotel is good size even for the people who are used to American size beds and rooms.

Traveler's tip on shopping

We didn’t go there, but there is a shopping mall called "County Mall" right across from the rail station (5 min walk). Which can be handy if you don’t really care to go into central London.

Great Gatwick overnight hotel, or suburban London base.

Near gatwick with airport shuttle. Also near Crawley train station. Very luxurious at decent price for London.

Perfect place to stay before flight

We stayed at this hotel before our flight back to the US after staying 10 days throughout the UK. While the hotels in the English countryside were very charming, we must admit, it was nice to have the basic standard luxuries (large tub, prolonged hot water, etc.) before flying home. The quality of the hotel was exceptional considering the price and the customer service was top-notch. We would definitely stay there again before flying out of Gatwick.

Great Rate, Great Hotel

Outstanding overall. The room was clean, comfortable and very modern. My only negative comment is we were charged 7.95 pounds for movies that we did not order and we did not watch. We stayed here 2 different times. The first time we put a credit card if we wanted to charge stuff to the room (this is when we were charged for the movies). The second time we did not put a credit card and not only did we not get charged for the alleged movies, but we noticed the movie channels were blocked. Which gave us relief because we are not the type who order movies in hotels. So my suggestion is do not give them your credit card unless you plan on watching movies in your room.

Very Comfortable Hotel

This hotel is very comfortable, and well managed. The rooms were well equipped and the hotel resturant was excellent. I will most certainly plan to stay there again on a return trip.

not particularly convenient to Gatwick

Even though the hotel had Gatwick in its title, it was not particularly convenient. It advertises a shuttle to and from the airport but it only comes once an hour and we had to wait 45 minutes for it. Meanwhile, other hotel shuttles were coming and going. The hotel charged $5 for the shuttle too.

Fantastic Hotel

My wife had booked this hotel for an amazing price. Because of this, I was skeptical (to say the least). Upon arrival I was immediately impressed. The staff was extremely helpful, the rooms are very comfortable and spacious, and the resteraunt server fantastic food. I had just arrived from a 3 week trip to Delhi, India. This room was comprable to the 5 star hotel I stayed at in Delhi. I highly recommend this hotel, especially if flying out of Gatwick Airport.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

The hotel dining is very expensive. There are plenty of places to eat outside of the hotel. With that said, the food in the restaurant is fantastic.
