Good Economy Choice
My family of 4 stayed in this classic floritinian budget hotel. We liked it a lot. Nothing fancy but got the job done.

Try the Gatto e Volpe restaurant around the corner from the Bargello.

Great Location, but Needs Renovations!
We stayed 4 nights in the Hotel Olimpia. The hotel has an excellent location and we walked everywhere we wanted to go in Florence. The hotel receptionist was very helpful to us, however our room was very disappointing. The bathroom did not have a bathtub, but it only had a shower (right beside the toilet and only a shower curtain separated the two). The furniture was old, the lighting was poor, and the TV was very small (bring your ipod - it would be better!). The continental breakfast was average and it was disappointing that was only during the hours of 7-9 a.m. An extra hour would have been nice. Florence was nice, but we wouldn’t stay there again.

Nothing other than location
In many of the rooms you can hear a constant noise from the water system (I think); I have actually checked out some of the rooms. And if your room is close to the reception God help you with elevator noise, people enterin etc. chatting etc. The rooms are cosy but the bathrooms are rather outdated and the showers do not have a separate tub - there is just a curtain dangling on the floor. All in all, price was OK but I will not stay there again.
