great place to stay if flying out of shannon

Large hotel with many amenities. We stayed in the new wing (executive level). The bed was the best we had in Ireland.Great whirlpool and spa in basement. Had the table de hote dinner and was pleased although a little pricey.

The location was great, because it was within walking distance to the Bunratty Castle and also Dirty Nellys. Breakfast was a tasty buffet. However, our room was VERY warm, and there were tons of mostiqutoes outside, so we were leary to leave our unscreened windows open. I asked at the front desk for someone to check on it, but there was no change in the room temp. Therefore we did not sleep well at all.

Charm,+Location+Staff+Great Food=Bunratty

We used the Bunratty Castle hotel as our home base for eight days. It is withing walking distance of shopping, Pubs, and of course the castle and folk park. It also has a large enough car park so there plenty of room for our rental car. Even with so much close to the hotel it was like being in our own private country estate. Surrounded by scenery that is a photographers delight. Every one we met was pleasant and helpful. The hotel staff was unobtrusive while still meeting our every need.The full Irish breakfast gave us a great start to each day and had something for all tastes. We ate dinner at the Round Room and it was no more expensive than other restaurants. The food and service were very good. The had drinks in the hotel bar Katheen’s and the drinks were of good variety and price. I would recommend this place to anyone flying into Shannon or just making a stop in the area.

Castle and folk park was the best Tourist Attraction money we spent during our entire trip. Plan on a whole day. There are a few shops, places for drinks a restaurant and benches for those who get tired of walking. The village shops close for lunch.

Go to Durty Nelly’s for lunch or dinner. They let you pull your own pint of Guinness and the staff is really fun.

Very Irish, extremely comfortable, clean, accommodating

I am so pleased that I chose Bunratty to begin my Irish vacation. Really made me realize I was in a beautiful country. Hotel very clean, willing to accommodate, friendly and attractive. Restaurants and visiting sites close at hand also. Great choice and I would recommend to anyone interested in feeling "Irish".

Gallahers, great food, walking distance, a bit expensive. Durty Nellie, casual, across the road, reasonable pricing, good food.

The breakfast buffet was very nice and the hotel staff was very helpful. The hotel location was convenient for day trips.

Beautiful Exterior and Good Interim Location

Hotel is a great location as a "stop over" location as you travel in/out/through Ireland. Very beautiful exterior and common areas. Our room had an unusual large stain on the rug and there were food remnants that had not been cleaned up prior to our arrival.

Hotel should have been rated higher than a three star. Beautiful hotel, magnificent castle and great location for sight-seeing. Not to mention Durty Nelly’s with their excellent food and staff.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

As crazy as it may sound, rent a car and travel to the Cliffs and Burren region one day then go to the tiny fishing village of Dingle and enjoy the ride down. Beautiful scenery!

Nice Hotel, convenient to Bunratty Castle and Folk Park

This hotel was had very nice atmosphere and updated facilities. The pool and hot tub were very nice and there was a spa available. We were able to walk across the street to Bunratty Castle and Folk Park as well as local restaurants/pubs. The room rate was very competitive for Ireland/Europe.

Stayed on our first night of a 2 week self drive vacation. The accomodations were satisfactory, but nothing special here.

Great Hotel and Location

The Bunratty Hotel was very clean and in a good location to the Castle and folk park. We stayed one night before our tour started and had a lot of fun. Very friendly people and very shuttle service to and from Shannon Airport.

Great choice

We were very pleased with our stay at the Bunratty Castle Hotel! We had an early(6:30 AM)arrival and stopped at the hotel to see when we could check in. The staff was very courtious and made every attempt to get us a room as soon as possible, even though they were booked the night before for a wedding. They were accomodating of every request that we had. The room was very nice, clean and comfortable. The full Irish breakfast buffet was a nice way to start each day. We were pleased with the easy access to N18 for our daily excursions to other parts of the country. Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in the area.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Most of the meal portions at the surrounding restaurants were more than ample. We could have easily shared some of the meals to save a few dollars. Many times there were two types of potatoes served with entrees, along with other vegetables which really stretched the meals. The few times we remembered to do this, we were readily accomodated by the wait staff.

Hotel was beautifully decorated for the holidays. Warm fire and friendly helpful staff.

This hotel met all my expectations and more...

When we arrived it was 8am and the hotel was gracious enough to see when our room would be ready-it was and we checked in-they were also kind enough the next day to get us toast and coffee after we overslept and missed breakfast

This hotel was a good value. We had 3 rooms.All were nice. The American outlets came in handy to recharge phones, cameras, etc....Nice location for daytripping about...

Bunratty Castle Hotel Everything You Could Want

The Bunratty Castle Hotel had everything we were looking for from a clean, comfortable, safe hotel room, breakfast served every A.M. and Kathleen’s Pub (connected right next door)opened late every P.M.(after traveling all day it was so convenient to grab a late meal). Angsana Spa was a wonderful experience! There was also another more upscale restaurant we did not get a chance to try. Close to Shannon Airport. Pool/hot tub and work out areas. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Wonderful hotel at a great price

Bunratty Hotel is a small, beautiful European-style hotel with a brilliant location. Everything about the hotel is five star, and a good value.It is perfectly located next to the Bunratty Castle and numerous shops and fun pubs for dining. The location, about half way between Shannon and Limerick, is good for a quick trip into a bigger city or a short hop right to the airport. We will stay again-it was lovely.

Bunratty Castle is just a stroll across the parking lot, and is a photographer’s dream. Lots of history for kids set in an amiable property, without being too stuffy! The pub next door was a great place for a family dinner.

Hotel was very cleaned and well maintained. Staff was very friendly and was more than willing to do anything that was requested.

Just a quick overnight, before flying out of nearby SHannon airport in the morning. Service was good, food was good, rooms were lovely. Good value for money.

This was a wonderful relaxing (and convenient to everything) hotel at the end of our 3-week vacation

The only reason for the lower scores of housekeeping is the two nights we were there, housekeeping appeared to be done by a very young and inexperienced girl cleaning the rooms... she was sitting on the hallway floor struggling to get the vaccum cleaner to work at one point. I believe she was doing her best but just had more to learn about cleaning. The rest of the hotel was spotless and very comfortable.

The Bunratty Folk Park sounded like a "Tourist Trap" and I guess it was. But it was a fun, entertaining, and very educational "trap"...We also had a great time listening (and singing) to Irish music across the street at Durty Nell’s. Shops were close and besides the hotel resturant, there was also another restuartant, The Creamery, right next door and the food was very good. It made a great end to our long Irish vacation.
