Would recommend to others. Would stay there again.

We were impressed with the decor and the comfort and size of the room. The service was also excellent. The view of the city was also great. This is a hotel I would recommend to others.

Happiest of New Year’s

For 15+ years we have hosted a NYE party at our home and this year decided to change it up (as did some of our usual guests who made other plans) so my wife and 3 teenage daughters decided to take a quick jaunt to the WIny City to ring 2010. Expedia set ups up in the Hotel Sofitel-PERFECT! Beatiful lobby, dellcious restaurant (baked goods/croissants better than anyI have ever tasted), fun bar and NYE party ($20 cover for outsiders but free to Hotel guests) beautifully appointed, very comfortable rooms and awesome beds and first class cheerful service. My girls used the workout room and said it was perfect (not too small as others have said). Sofitel is an easy walk to Rush St. restaurants/bars, Oak Street shops and Michigan Ave (and John Hancock and Water Tower Place ) so my girls were in shopping heaven. Even though it was plenty cold, nothing was too far to walk. If you can get the kind of deal we got at Sofitel through Expedia, take it ! It was a bargain and a ball!

Won’t retun

Typically we stay at 4 or 5 star/diamond hotel properties. Sofitel was given a high rating on Expedia which brought us to this property however, this hotel should be marketed to the "club seeking" generation. Lobby is MUCH too dark and the "blonde" furniture in the rooms with an entire wall made up of mirrors was tasteless. Unless you look like Angelna Jolie or Brad Pitt no one wants to wake up in the morning with a full body view of themselves. Further the heat control did not work-- strike that-- the heating system is controlled by the hotel. The room was freezing as there was no warm air blowing. Staff were friendly but "stiff" as if they were awaiting the arrival of French President Nicolas Sarkozy. Valet parking price was over-priced at $47.00 per night which means adding almost another $50 per night to the room. I was told by the front desk that the parking is a concession but it is clear both parties are greedy-- am confident 50% goes to the supplier and the other 50% goes to the hotel-- guests don’t like to be nickle and dimed especially in this economy. Again, not a bad hotel if you just graduated college.
