Conveniently located
Six blocks from Beale Street and two blocks from the river, the hotel is very convenient. The trolley to Beale Street runs right outside the front door (actually the back door because the hotel entrance is inaccessible from Main Street, the hotels actual address). Arriving by car, turn onto Front Street NOT Main Street or youll be rammed by a trolley! Hotel is in two parts, the new part and the historic Kress. We were in the latter and although the view was awful of the next door roof, the room was very nice and comfortable, split into two parts as a sitting / desk area and the bedroom. Id definitely stay there again. Parking yourself is the same price as the valet parking ($12 / day) so, aside from the tip, might as well use the valets (which youll have to do if the smallish shared lot is full at the weekend).
Traveler's tip on dining
Almost all the local restaurants other than Beale Street were closed Sunday night for whatever reason. Beale Street is extremely quiet Sunday night but at least you can eat there. Cross Main Street for breakfast down Court Street at the Blue Plate - outstanding!

Spacious Rooms
We had such a wonderful time at Springhill Suites. Our room was very spacious and comfortable for 6 girls. We had a balcony room and that was very nice for the smokers in the group. The Balcony overlooked a park and the trolley. We were able to hear the trolley going by at 6 in the morning eventhough the hotel said we wouldnt be able to. Overall a niceplace to stay.
Traveler's tip on nightlife
Beal St. is a short walk but I ddont recomend walking alone.

Wish Id had more information
When I made the reservations I thought this was an historic hotel (based upon the "Kress" picture of the front of the hotel) The destriction of the hotel did not indicate to ask for the historic section nor did the desk clerk mention it. In fact, the desk must have been having a bad day becuase she was rather rude and NOT helpful at all. She made a bad impression for this otherwise nice hotel.
Traveler's tip
Ask for the Historic Section if youd like that type of room.
