location location location
Wonderful location- minutes from the coves; A bit annoying to have to park 2 blocks away but we didnt use our car at all since we came for the coves. Breakfast on the rooftop was not punctual (we ordered ahead) but was very pleasant. Room didnt have much of a view, but was cozy and well appointed with a small table and fridge. Bring your own toiletries- they charge an arm and a leg for toothpaste/toothbrush etc. if you forgot yours at home... Would definitely come back.

To die for
We had an oceanview room with sliding doors and a balcony. The weather was "to die for" after being in Texas and Arizona. So pleasant we slept with the sliding doors open listing to the ocean. This is an older hotel but very quaint with a terrace that has an amazing view. Very easy to walk to different places to eat and to the ocean.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
walk to dining, window shopping, ocean

Stay in La Jolla but not at the La Jolla Inn
La Jolla is a gorgeous area of San Diego but while the La Jolla Inn has a great location, it is very disappointing in other ways. We arrived late due to a flight delay and were not able to check in the night of our arrival. We called the hotel 48h prior as advised by expedia to make arrangements for a possible late check-in, but there were no arrangements possible. Their front desk closes at midnight. We had to sleep in the car but were still charged for the room and energy surcharge for that night. The hotel chose not to compensate us in anyway for the inconvenience. In addition to that, our shower curtain kept on falling down. They tried to put it back up with tape and other amateur tricks....to no avail. One more negative: while the sunroof is nice for breakfast, what the picture doesnt show you is a very dirty piece of plexiglass blocking the view (probably meant to block the wind). Conclusion: Stay in La Jolla, it truely is breathtakingly beautiful but do not stay at the La Jolla Inn!!!
