Absolutely great!

If your stayed here 2 or more years ago, you need to give them another chance. The day manager told us that they refurbished everything back then. Our room was great, the service excellent, and the staff very friendly. Good breakfast too. You can’t get a better location. The train station is about 1 1/2 blocks away, one of the tour buses stops 50 yards down the street. We would absolutely stay here again if we go to Rome or just need a layover.

Take the hop -on,hop-off tour bus that you can pick up just down the street. Also, one of the managers told us that the best rates available are thru Expedia.

Not Impressed

The hotel is in a great location. Most of the staff is friendly, some don’t even greet you when you say hello. The room I was given was on the first floor, and had a small bathroom. After the 3rd night, the A/C stopped working in my room. It started at 9:00pm, and I decided to tell the front desk at 10:00pm. They told me a technician was coming and to wait until 11:30. We waited (hubby and I) until 12:00am, and the room was still dreadfully hot. We could not sleep, and the room was getting worse as time past. The manager told us to wait until the floor cools off. At 1:00am, we were told to wait another hour. Finally, at 2:30am, the bellman checked out the room (after we begged) and we were FINALLY (after 5 HRS!!) given another room on the 5th floor. The room we were given was a lot bigger, and nicer. It had a bath tub in it (unlike just a shower like in our other room) and the bathroom was in a more convenient location. Had I originally recieved that room, or had my room changed once I complained about the A/C, I would have recommended and enjoyed my stay. Living in the US, I am not used to fighting and proving that I am dying of heat when the A/C breaks in my room.

Good Hotel

Excellent free breakfast!!! Cappucinos were so good... We spent most of our time out of the hotel, but it was defenitely a place we would go back to. It was very close to the metro and the termi. We walked from there to all the sites in Rome. The bathrooms were really nice and clean. The bedrooms were clean, but a little outdated... not a big issued though.

Traveler's tip

Wear comfy shoes... we walked for hours... by choice.

Great place, good location

The hotel is very nice, clean, bathroom larger than expected, high ceilings, furnishings nice (all european mattresses are a bit thin)and staff was helpful & friendly. Air-conditioning GREAT!I especially liked the location, felt safe & used buses, subway & train which are easily accessible (hop on-off double-decker busstop is at corner)free breakfast good; same every day, rooftop bar nice. Can walk to many attractions.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

McDonald’s at Republicca Plaza 2 blocks away, airport and hotel higher change rate than at exchange stores on street; Termini station great for getting around, souvenirs cheaper around hotel than popular attractions. Recommend Tucci Restaurant @ Navona Piazza

Two thumbs up!

Clean, modern and GREAT location (only two blocks from Termini Station). Check out the rooftop jacuzzi. Don’t be put off by the coffee machine in the breakfast room - if you want REAL coffee, just ask.

Beware of the unrenovated rooms

Although the hotel’s page says that it is newly renovated, several floors are not. I was stuck with one of those rooms. The quality was terrible - chipping paint, rusted faucet, and a tv from the ’70s. I would never stay at this hotel again. Terrible.

Good value, close to transportation

My husband and I stayed at the hotel in late May 2009. We had been warned about the difficulty in finding a reasonably priced, decent quality hotel in Rome. We were pleasantly surprised. I would definitely stay here again. We found the front desk staff friendly and the room very clean. The terrace was a nice place to watch the sunset. We chose the hotel because it is close to the train station, but walkable to Trevi, Spanish Steps, etc. Our room overlooked the street and a nearby square, but the windows were very thick and kept out the noise.

Nice

The location near the train station is great for train travelers. The rooftop terrace is a nice extra. The rooms were quite decent, with very large bathrooms. Very busy hotel though...making it a bit impersonal.

Nice hotel but a staff with an attitude problem

Hotel Nord Nuova Roma is located only 3 blocks from the main train station, Metro line, and many of the main bus routes. The hotel is well maintained and provides an basic breakfast of rolls, ham, cheese, fruit, and coffee. There are no other meals available on site. The rooms are cleaned daily with fresh towels and sheets. The air worked most of the time. The big issue that I had was with the staff both at the desk and in the breakfast room. They treated you as through you were a bother to them any time you asked for anything. In my four days there, I experienced only 2 positive exchanges with any staff member. In witnessing their behavior, it was it clear that this was a top down issue as the management staff was not friendly either.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

This hotel is close to nice eating establishments and provides a great location for traveling around Rome. The Metro line is only two blocks away and the best way to see Rome. If you want a nice hotel and don’t need too many questions answered, this is a good hotel for the money.

A gem in the ocean!

From the time we stepped into the Nord, we experienced a very warm, professional feeling. The front desk staff was extremely helpful and courteous. The breakfast in the cafe was very delicious and this staff, also, were very attentive to all patrons’ needs. All in all, we would stay there again if ever we are in Rome!

Traveler's tip

The Nord is centrally located...near the Termini Rail Station and the Metro. Also, the City Tour busses are in the same general area.

Good Location

The hotel was very clean and spacious. It was close to all public transportation (Bus-Train-Metro). It was not the best looking area or safest. The room was very clean. I found the people who worked at the front desk were not so friendly. They were cold and sometimes rude. The dining room staff were o.k. They could have been a little more friendlier.

Good Location for Short Stay

We chose this hotel due to its proximity to Termini station since we were only staying one night before taking the train to catch a cruise ship. Met my expectations, though the rate was a bit higher than desired (thanks to the weak dollar).

A great choice in Rome

The hotel was in a great location to the main train station (Termini - several blocks) metro stops, walking to sites, and many restaurants just around the corner. The staff were all wonderful and friendly and helpful. The breakfast was plentiful and good. There was a cheap internet area only 2 blocks away.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

You can walk or take the metro anywhere you want to go. Get a good map. We used Knopf Mapguide books all over Europe and they are wonderful.

Very Pleased

My wife and I stayed in hotels in Rome, Athens and Valleta, Malta last month and tried to stay within a budget, which is tough with the Euro to Dollar ratio at 1.5 to 1. Rome was harder for us to book moderately priced rooms in - even several months in advance. So we paid more at the Hotel Nord, but it was the nicest hotel by far, and it’s only three blocks to the train, subway and bus central stations (they’re all together.) We easily made up the price difference by using the subway instead of cabs, and it’s really nice to be that close to your hotel after a transcontinental flight/train ride. It’s also near the Colloseum and many other attractions. We stayed 3 nights and would definitely go back.

Traveler's tip on dining

There are plenty of restaurants very close to the Hotel Nord, but our favorite, where we ate twice was La Matriciana, right across from the Opera house.

Can’t go wrong here

I arrived in Rome by train.....the hotel is a couple blocks away across from the National museum of Rome. Very clean room and the front desk staff is GREAT. All knew english and was very helpful. Breakfast is limited but enough to get you out the door. Would stay again if I return

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

There’s a "open top" tour bus that leaves from the train station every 15 min or so....great way to feel out where everything is at. The subway system is simple with it’s 2 lines and 1 euro ticket which lasts about 75 minutes each. Read up on Rome and hit the ground running!

Very good hote in an excellent location

This hotel is located very close to the main train station and centrally located to most of the historical locations. The front desk staff is cold and tends to ignore guests, but the rest of the staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is included in the price and is also very good. The rooms are clean and more than adeqate. The beds are good and each room has its own bathroom with combination shower/tub.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Buy a one day pass on the double-decker bus to get around. They run about every ten minutes or so and go to most desired locations.

Good Location

The hotel is located very close to Rome’s Termini Station, which makes it easy to go around the city (via the metro) or to catch your train to other cities. Rome’s metro is not extensive so it’s a plus to be close to the metro. The size of the room is big compared to Italian standards. Breakfast is included in the room price. I think it’s a decent three star hotel.

Another wonderful stay at the Hotel Nord Nuova Roma

Having stayed at this hotel a few years back, I opted to make my return visit to the Nord Nuova Roma since this time I would be accompanied by first-time visitors to Rome. The hotel is conveniently situated, making the trips to various points of interest very easy, as it is located near the Termini Station, with access to busses and the Metro. The rooms are exceptionally clean with the added comfort of air-conditioning. A bountiful, cold buffet breakfast is available each morning, served with choice beverages (hot & cold). The staff is most cordial and helpful and speak English. I look forward to another stay at the Hotel Nord Nuova Roma.

Great Location but Expensive rate comparing surrounding hotels

a great location just in front of Termeni Station in central Rome, but the rate of the room is very high comparing to others hotels and the room are so so small. Breakfast is so limited without any hot stuff.

Great Property

This hotel was perfect for our trip. While it was fairly close to the train terminal, it was quiet and convienent. You could walk to everything. The room was a decent size and our 2 sons room was a good size although they were small by US standards. Bath was fine. Breakfast was great and service was good. Best part of hotel was the rooftop terrace with a bar. We spent most evenings up there before dinner and the views and atmosphere was just tops. Overall, the staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.
