I recommend with hesitation

I had friends and family in town, and I didn’t have extra room at my place so I booked two rooms adjacent to each other. The overall decor and upkeep of the place is old, needs an overall facelift. Got two non-smoking rooms, one REEKED of smoke. Luckily we were out and about most of the time. Free continental breakfast was standard w/cereal, toast, donuts, and oatmeal, but was in the lobby. I would only recommmend this place due to its’ close location to the beach (4 min. drive) and it is the least expensive hotel in this part of town aside from a motel.

If you’re on a budget, the Metro bus Line 444 will take you down Hawthorne Blvd towards Del Amo mall, and into Downtown L.A. Go west on PCH and take a left onto any of the Avenue streets, you’ll end up at the beach. Go South on Hawthorne (also line 444) and you’ll end up in beautiful Palos Verdes, line 444 will take you right to Terranea resort, most of the area is open to the public.

I BOOKED A ROOM IN THIS HOTEL FOR MY HUSBAND AND MYSELF FOR HIS BIRTHDAY GETAWAY . I AM A SMOKER AND MY HUSBAND LIKES A CIGAR , I FELT LIKE THE ROOM THEY ASSIGNED US WAS A PUNISHMENT . THE PICTURES AND MIRRORS WERE CROOKED AND THE REFRIDGERATOR WAS MISSING A LEG .I FELT THEY COULD HAVE USED FABREEZE(I BOUGHT A BOTTLE)AS THIS PLACE STUNK!!! THIS IS MY SECOND VISIT ;THE POOL AREA NEEDS TO BE POLICED . WE COULD NOT SWIM BECAUSE OF A GROUP OF VERY LOUD DRUNK COLLEGE KIDS. THIS TIME MY HUSBAND WAS BOTHERED AND PURPOSLY SPLASHED BY (AGAIN) A DRUNKEN BIKER DIVING OFF THE EDGE OF THE POOL .

Good place in need of some update

Our first night was spoiled by plumbing noises and thin walls, not to mention the smell of cigarette smoke - our own fault for picking this room for price. As the manager said, the place is 20 yrs old and plumbing needs upgrading. The manager was very sympathetic and we were soon upgraded at no extra cost. For this reason alone we would return. For those without a car, public transport is good and available but it takes 1.1/2 hours to reach Downtown LA, 1 hour to Long Beach, etc.- be warned.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

In LA, seniors can obtain a Metro daily pass for $US1.80 by taking your proof of age to Metro cashier at Union Station or any check(cheque) cashing place. Very handy! This plastic pass can be for 1 day or as many as you like.

Disgusting

The room was horrible. There were dead bugs in the jacuzzi tub. I had to ask for another room because the room was filthy. The girl at the front desk asked me what kind of bugs they were. I really don’t care what kind of bugs they were. It was disgusting. She put us in another room next door, unfortunately all they had was smoking. The room was a little cleaner but was still dirty. I had to scrub the jacuzzi tub because I was scared to get into it. I’m also glad we brought our own blankets because we used our own and threw the hotels blankets on the floor.

We stayed two nights in a non-smoking room and everything was pleasant (except for the creaky door). It is central to most places in South Bay area. If you’re looking to save money and use the hotel simply to sleep in, then this is it.

Good for a weekend stay

If you are staying for the weekend in LA, its good to stay here. You get free breakfast :). There is a newly opened Indian Restaurant (Tandoori) so no worries about lunch and dinner who like spicy food. Room and service is okay.

Small and shabby rooms, dirty carpets and damp smell !

Rooms are really small and shabby. Carpets are dirty and damp smell prevails. Just spent a night and was glad to to get out early the next morning !

A little off the highway but nice motel at a decent price

About 7 to 8 miles from a nearest Interstate. However, closer to some of the nice beaches. Old but well maintained motel. By the way, they charge for the actual usage of the locket per day in the room but no mention of such a policy.

Some of the nice beaches are in close proximity to this motel. Lots of farmers’ market and beach related activities. Also, half way in between LAX and Long Beach Airport - about half an hour to 45 minutes to each location.

Great staff

The staff was pleasant and helpful. Biggest concern was the mattress. It was a king size and very uncomfortable because of a dent in the middle of the mattress. Also it kept sliding off the foundation. I have stayed in many hotels and I think this was the only one that did not have a mirror in the room, only in the bathroom.

They do a good job trying to keep the rooms clean but the hotel is very old and needs updating (bathroom hardware, carpet etc).

Good Value

We needed a hotel close to Torrance Memorial. This hotel is convenient, clean, and they were willing to work with us on a late check out. It’s an older hotel but clean.

Great place to stay

The entire staff was very friendly & efficient. Front desk people very were knowlegable of the area & helpful with directions to anywhere we needed to go. The on site restaurant was very clean with delicious food at very reasonable prices. The continental breakfast in the hotel was way more than the standard donuts & coffee that are typically found. Being able to enjoy it on our balcony above the pool was a nice touch. The rooms were clean with everything we needed to be comfortable during our stay. We will definitely stay here again when visiting southern California.

Not a bad place for 1 or 2 nite stay considering the price. The only annoying thing is that the ac/heater was too noisy

A place to lay your head...

If all you’re looking for is a place to lay your head and get some rest on your vacation this place is certainly acceptable.

You get what you pay for

For the price, I’d stay again. However, many of the negative reviews were correct. The door does hit the bed, our non-smoking room smelled like smoke, and the walls are very thin. Our neighbors were amorous at 2 AM and we were treated to all the moaning and banging sounds of their joyous moment.

Economical Choice

Not the most luxurious hotel that I have stayed in while in Torrance visiting family, but it was clean and comfortable. The in room frig was handy as was the coffee maker and microwave. The continental breakfast was delicious as was the river of coffee we drank.

Convinient Location

Del Amo Shopping mall is just a 5-minutes drive away. Plenty of restaurants along Hawthorne Blvd. Free wi-fi provided but extremly slow.
