Near to Javits, Penn Station

The hotel is small in total rooms but modern, and very convenient to the Javits. Rooms are big for a moderately priced New York Hotel. Staff are very helpful. Parking 1 block away has a hotel discount on an underground parking garage.

Only needed to sleep

Hotel is within walking distance of Times Square. Walked many times back and forth. Continental breakfasts were adequate. Only issue was getting enough towels and our air conditioner did not work on several occasions.Manager gave 10% discount off for last day.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Within walking and or short taxi rides to Times Square and tour guide buses.

Very impressive for price!

I really did enjoy my stay at this hotel. I was very surprised on how clean and well managed it was. Fabulous hotel for the price..although the rooms were small..I was just there to sleep! Still VERY CLEAN AND QUIET AT NIGHT. The continental breakfast was pretty ok after all it was free! Cereal, hard-boiled eggs, assorted pastries, and the usual morning beverages. I actually checked out at noon and left my luggage with security so I could spend the whole day in Times Square, there was only a $1 fee and all my luggage was well taken care of. Very nice service and staff. Only complaint was that it wasn’t in Times Square..but just 2-3 blocks away, 15 min walk, 5 min taxi drive. Nevertheless, I really had a great stay at the hotel! :)

When checking out/eating breakfast make sure you’re out by 9ishh..or as soon as possible! Checking out can be hectic when there is a long line of guests checking out as well in front of you.

1st time in NYC

This was my first trip to NYC; so I did not know what to expect. However, the hotel staff is courteous (especially the front desk man named Lloyd.) Lloyd is extremely helpful in giving suggestions and advice on navigating NYC. Also, the hotel is located close to Times Square, Theatres and the Bus Station. You may ask why write the bus station? We purchased a $27 all you can ride Subway pass and the Bus Station is a great place to catch many of the trains needed to get all over the city! I would stay here again-great value for the money.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

If you are planning on seeing the sights of NYC, shopping or taking in a show; this is your hotel. If you are looking for luxurious rooms, a spa and workout facility keep looking. We liked its convenience to transportation and location.

Great Hotel in Hell’s Kitchen

As 4 women traveling together we had great experience staying at the Best Western. The continental breakfast was a time as well as money saver. Cabs were easy to obtain on 10th within 6 blocks of times square. It will be wonderful once the high rise next to hotel is completed although I never heard any sounds of construction.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Buy the gray line bus tour package and use it for your transportation throughout your stay. It includes a tour of the harbor, museum passes etc. Each tour guide offers a different perspective on the city making each trip on the bus a new experience.

Nice hotel but in a bad area

If you book this hotel for leisure, know that it’s really far from all the attractions.

it was fine

If you need to stay within a short walking distance of Javits, this will work. It’s far from fancy, the rooms are *tiny* and the price ain’t cheap, but that’s Manhattan. To say that the decor is nothing to write home about is a massive understatement, but shockingly, I actually loved the bed--the mattress was really, really comfortable.

Traveler's tip on dining

Il Punto is nearby on 9th between 38th and 39th; the food and service at this Italian restaurant were both great, for a reasonable price

Good for a short stay

I only needed a few nights to stop over in NY, and selected this Hotel. The room was pretty small but comfortable for 1 person. If there had been 2 people it may have been too small, but I am unsure if I had the smallest room possible. Included breakfast was minimal but ok.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Hotel is only 3-4 blocks from TimesSq and maybe 2 blocks from the Convention Centre so it is very convenient for either etc.

We’ll stay here again

Small but comfortable room. Friendly staff. Reasonably priced. No frills.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Close to the Javits Center.

Quiet hotel w/breakfast in Manhattan

Two blocks away from the main stream - very quiet at night, you can sleep w/window open! Has continental breakfast included in the price - happy with that, even if not the best breakfast in the world.

A good cost x benefit relationship

Location is fine, but no access to a close drugstore or convenience store for last minute needs.

Hotel nice and clean

Hotel nice, you don’t have a nice view and a little bit far of Times Square. Room are clean and you can use WIFI network of hotel. Otherwise when you are in New York you don’t stay in your hotel. For that, the prestation are correct.

Spend the Extra $ to stay Elsewhere

My husband an I took Super Shuttle from the airport and were one of the last to get dropped off. We watched everyone go to these nice looking hotels and then drove through a not-very-nice looking part of time and voila, this was the Best Western. The help staff was very nice, however when we got to our floor, the entire floor smelled like smoke. And when we opened the door to the room it was almost as if the bed touched all four walls. I don’t think our luggage would have even fit in the room with us. The place would be good for young travelers really trying to save some money, but for a married couple trying to have a nice stay in NYC it is not the place. We didn’t stay the night and instead went to another hotel on the east side. Twice the price, but still a good deal for Manhattan and MUCH more comfortable.

If being 4 blocks to the subway, and construction don’t bother you...

The bit of 38th street that this Best Western on is currently undergoing quite a bit of construction, with condos being built next door. There is also an autobody shop right across from the hotel where taxis seem to hang out 24/7, and a gentleman’s club down the street. However, in our case, we did not have any unsavory experiences walking back to the hotel late at night. Though I must note, we saw two purses and their contents spilled on the road and the sidewalk, as if women were mugged. As for the room, it was quite clean and felt new. The room service was great too. The only complaint I have was the blanket on the bed, in lieu of a duvet, looked pretty sad, had snags on it, and didn’t seem like it gets washed.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

For the cost, well worth the lack of aesthetic beauty outside, and well worth the extra steps from the subway to practically the Western edge of Manhattan. 4 Blocks from 34th street or 42nd street!

Great Hotel close to Broadway and Empire State Building

Overall the hotel was a great place to stay while seeing the city. It was close enough to the major venues that we walked almost everywhere. The room was a little small with a king bed taking up most of the space, but for a place to crash at the end of a long day it was perfect. Parking was a couple of city blocks away but there was a spot for loading/unloading at the front door.

Fine room except for construction going beside hotel

My stay at the Best Western Convention Center NYC 3-12-09 was fine except for the construction going beside our hotel. If your up for business you should be ok.If your up to experience the night life you might have trouble falling asleep as the construction guys started working at 7am. This Best Western had the best bed ever!It was a memory foam bed. A+++++ for the bed.

Very comfortable

It was a very good stay for our family. The best part is the location of the hotel as its walking distance to Port Terminal and Times Square, Empire State. Its a safe area for walking even after midnight and with small kids. The breakfast is just fantastic. The room service is great too. I got a very good deal from Expedia, and will want to return back to the hotel with my family!
