Not a bad place to stay, hotel is a little dated but the price was right. Near a lot of shops and you can get on the tub quickly.

Great Location & Knowledgable Staff

It was my first trip to London & I took a chance staying in a random hotel. The staff was extremely attentive from the early check in, to the knowledgeable 24-hour concierge. Weather it was making a suggestion of where to eat or what bus to take for enjoyable sightseeing, their advice was on point. Several bus lines and the Central metro/tube line are with in walking distance of the hotel.

Traveler's tip on dining

Walk a few blocks over to James Street for an excellent collection of cafes. The food varies from Italian to French to Turkish. Good prices, excellent service and a nice place to sit outside.

Friendly and comfortable

The hotel personnel could not have been more helpful. Our handicapped friendly room was just that. The breakfast was outstanding. A complaint is the quality of the evening buffet. Its price was reasonable but it wasn’t very good. The local phone charges were outlandish and the wireless internet was unreasonably expensive.

If breakfast is not included be sure and ask for a voucher which saves some money. Get a phone card and use a pay phone.

great for elderly people who want to shop but get tired of carting shopping around. one can just dump the stuff at concierce and go out again since it is a great location for buying stuff and so close to hyde park for green relaxation.

Pleasant staff comfortable room

The hotel staff was very courteous and helpful. The airlines had lost my luggage (which never arrived) and the porter took a personal interest in helping. The front desk people gave me a toothbrush and razor until I could get to a store to buy what I needed. I found everyone very pleasant and accomadating. The room was comfortable though not much of a view. The hotel was in a great location on Oxford Street.

Great hotel with thin walls

Hotel has great location, very spacious and clean, friendly staff. However, the walls are very thin. If you’re a light sleeper you may have trouble depending on your neighors.

Comfortable, clean and a great location.

This hotel was suggested to us by friends. While the rooms are small by US standards- they were clean and comfortable. We were not looking for a "luxury hotel, but one that would be a good buy, close to public transport and comfortable after a day of museums. This fit exactly what we were looking for.

Excellent stay

The accomdations were roomy, comfortable and more than we expected. Excellent shower. Clean and quiet. The location was perfect for catching the bus or the underground. Local restaurants were also good - one was excellent. We went back 4 times. The concierge was very helpful and willing to chase down even odd requests.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Use the underground and get a pass for the time you are there. The pass is good for the bus, too. Getting around is easy although it is a lot of walking. Wear comfortable shoes. Use a "Street-Smart" map.

if u just going for 2-3 days u can manege,the location is perfect but otherwise no good , the rooms reminds u of the sixties. but the rooms are biger than the other rooms i’ve seen in london

Good Location

Thistle Marble Arch provides easy access to transportation inside the city and for traveling further afield. If arriving at Heathrow, take the train into Paddington Station and it’s then a quick taxi ride to the hotel. The Marble Arch Underground station is a short two-minute walk from the lobby. Many ethnic restaurants in the area and you can enjoy a morning walk in Hyde Park. The staff is very friendly but try to resist the high-pressure for a room upgrade.

If you’re an art lover you must check out the Wallace Collection, housed in a restored mansion a few blocks from the Thistle Marble Arch. It’s free but you’re welcome to leave a donation. This beautiful building is packed full of fabulous furniture and other artworks.

4 Star Hotel....seriously?

PRO: Location,Location,Location. Helpful staff but don’t fall for the ’upgrade your room’ option because your room is not ready...not worth the additional funds. Save $ for shopping! CON: Rooms need renovation and the exterior needs major cleaning...it looks like a dirty warehouse

Not up to expectations

Hotel is ok in that it is near Marble Arch but remember this is served by only one tube line so be prepared to change stations for getting anywhere. Biggest problem with hotel is mainteance. For 4 of our 5 days there the escalator was "under maintenace"; older travellers beware as the stairs are numerous to access the lobby. In our room a light flickered and was still the same when we left even though we left it one each day to see if house keeping would do anything. A basisn tap was constantlt running for the whole of our stay. Next time we will stay more towards Tottenham court Road.

Reasonably priced and good location

Didn’t go into any of the public areas so my comments are on room only. I had booked a single room but they upgraded me and my room was spacious with a bit of a sitting area. Tea and shortbread in the room - very English! Hotel looks recently refurbished - inexpensively but attractively. Best blackout curtains ever - they overlap so that you don’t have the light peaking through the gap. Very close to Marble Arch tube stop - just East of it so you can also walk to a number of attractions. Concierge was helpful and front desk staff polite.

Great location - Full service

The Thistle Marble Arch is conveniently located between Hyde Park and the great shopping on Oxford Street. It is more reasonably priced than other hotels, but better in value. Restaurants are excellent for the budget conscious traveler and the food is great. I have stayed at this hotel at least 30 times and have never been disappointed.

Better than Marriott and just on Oxford Street.

Stayed at Marriott Marble Arch but this hotel is much nicer and less expensive. Marriott had extremely small rooms, a very expensive breakfast. One advantage was a pool. But if you do not come to London to swim but shopping and dining try Thistle Marble Arch.

Not impressed

the hotle employee will ask you if you want to upgrade the room to a higher level becouse the stander rooms are very bad. the only good thing on this hotel is the location near oxford street.

Not worth it!!!

Hotel has a nice location; but unfriendly and rude receptionists. I stayed in the hotel for 6 nights during Dec. 2008. There was no hot water on one day. Bath tub was half-blocked. Cleanliness was less than average for the rate of the hotel.

Showing its age

Although this is a very busy hotel the staff was at all times friendly and helpful. The rooms are however showing there age especially in the bathrooms. The hotels shower system is unique in that it is seperate from the bathtub and ours produced only very very hot water at times. The maintenance man said it was due to poor cold water pressure and he could do nothing about it

Not impressed

The hotel boasts a good location. However, that is one of the few things it has really going for it. Most members of staff did not speak/understand proper English. I found the staff less than friendly, uninterested and seemed to have a problem greeting guests or cracking a smile. Breakfast was alright, but could be more imaginative and varied. Breakfast servings on Sunday were quite chaotic. In summary, this hotel does not deserve a 4-star rating. It delivers 3-star service and potential guests should be aware of this.
