great value for the money

This hotel is like most of this chain’s other properties--a good value for the money: clean, welcoming (cookies at the reception desk a homey touch), traveller-friendly (it includes free parking and a self-serve breakfast which allows you to make pancakes/waffles), with a helpful and service-fiendly staff. It’s only drawback is that it is at least a 20 minute drive from the Wilmington/Brandywine Valley attractions.

A couple of glitches....

When we arrived to check in, no one was at the front desk. A group of about 12 people had already gathered to check in and some had been waiting for over an hour. Cleaning crew were on site but there was no one from management about. We left for a drive before the desk opened again. All together, the desk was unmanned for about 2 hours or so. There were a number of very frustrated visitors. A worker from another hotel would up coming over to help out. When we finally check in, the computer was down - as were the in-room hotel phones. The phones were back up the following morning. Around 11:00 p.m., we heard a very loud noise (like a vacuum cleaner) coming from a nearby room. As the phone wasn’t working, we went to the front desk to ask about it. Eventually, the noise went away - just in time for us to hear, word for word, the lady in the room next door complain to an airline agent why that day was the worst in her life. In the morning, she was on the phone again - or still? Bottom line, the walls don’t appear to have much sound proofing. If you plan to discuss national security secrets, I recommend a different hotel. Many of the TV stations appeared very snowy. On the plus side, the room was clean & comfortable. The staff (when there was staff) was friendly and helpful. The hotel overall appeared well maintained. Clearly what we experienced, except for the thin wall, was a management glitch that can happen to any organization from time to time.

Traveler's tip on dining

Great Mex restaurant right around the corner. Just look for the big "EAT" sign. Go early - it’s a popular place.

Nice place when on business

Very nice little inn, close to business district, hospital and within walking distance of a couple of nice restaurants.

Traveler's tip

Bring your own pillows the ones at this inn were flat as a piece of paper once you laid on them
