Good value in Madrid, centrally located

The hotel was very nice and very clean and well maintained. The staff was helpful and accomodative. The location was pretty good, about 4 blocks from several Metro stations and only a couple more to the Prado. If you’re into night life, it’s all around the hotel within a few blocks. The room actually pretty good sized for Europe and the wi-fi worked well. The only complaint is that the beds really, really need to be replaced. Bottom line - if we return to Madrid, I’ll definitely consider the Hotel El Prado as an option.

Great hotel in Madrid

We stayed at the Prado Hotel over Labor Day weekend and loved the hotel. You can’t beat the location! Close to the museums, metro stations, and plazas. The hotel staff was professional and the rooms were clean. You can’t beat value of this hotel!

Great hotel

I have stayed two night in this hotel in early September 09. This place is located 5 minute walk from Prado museum and 15 minute walk from old town. I mostly liked their all included breakfast for 10 euros. It had good selecttion of food as well as unlimited vine and champagne. I would stay there again.

Best location, clean rooms

It is not luxury, but newly refurbished bathrooms and clean rooms are great for the price. 2 blocks from El Prado cannot be beat!

Great Middle Class Hotel

If you are looking for a simple, clean hotel in a good location to base your stay in Madrid, then Hotel El Prado is a wonderful choice. The rooms, albeit spartan, are clean and roomy. The location is tremendous and one can easily walk to the major sites or walk 5 minutes to the Metro. Skip the breakfast buffet as it is pricey and bland.

Fantatic Location

Located right in the heart of old Madrid. 5 min, walk to Plaza del Sol, Prado Museums and Metro stop(s). 10 min. to Plaza Mayor. Lots and lots of excellent restaurants on every side of the hotel. A/C starts in May.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

If in Madrid for a few days, buy the multi-day Metro pass. Also, be sure to purchase the multi-day Madridcard for museums and cultural attractions. Let’s you skip the line at the Prado and Royal Palace - saves hours!!!!

Nice; but noisy

Hotel is convenient to train station, metro and plaza with several restaurants nearby. Air conditioning was not on during my stay which meant that window had to be left open to be comfortable. Noise from street below was a problem with open window.

Traveler's tip

Check with hotel to find out if air conditioning will be on during your stay.

Very good location

This hotel is well situated for visiting the main art museums in Madrid. The room was large for Europe. There were numerous restaurants in the area. The staff was quite helpful.

Wonderful location

The room was spacious and attractive. Desk service was excellent. The hotel is in a neighborhood with narrow streets, little car traffic, and dozens of tapa bars and cafes. The three great art museums, botanical garden, train station, and subway access are within 10-15 minutes walking.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

From the airport, take the subway to Achoa station and walk 5 minutes along Calle Leon to the hotel. Cost is 4 euros per person.

Great Location

We loved the location which is within walking distance to all the sites yet taxis readily available. Hotel staff was pleasant and helpful. The only problem was the street noice late at night with our window open. Next time we’ll ask for a inside room.

A cute hotel in a great location

We had a great stay in this hotel. It is rather small, but very cute, clean and well maintained. The personnel was really helpful though not all speak Spannish. They have a breakfast area with all the choices and drinks. We used the oven in there to heat up our kid’s milk few times. Not much view from the room, but the location is simply fabulous. Every major point, Puerta del Sol, Palacio Real, Prado are all within walking / strolling distances. And there are so many night places around, for food, tapas, and drinks, you won’t have to think twice to find a new place to hang out. The Santa Ana square is also right on the corner - nice place to hang out with kids. The rooms are all wood, very clean and spacious compared to European standards. They set up a crib for our 1 year son as well. Thanks guys!

People having kids in a stroller, accessing the Metro isn’t easy. While the Anton Martin station is near, it isn’t wheel friendly and it serves only the Blue line. A better choice would be the Sol station slightly farther, but having better access and connections.

Will go back, convenient location.

Good hotel for the price. It is close to museums and City center. Staff are friendly and most of them speak reasonable English. Nothing luxury or Grand about Hotel, But well worth it for the ptice, location and cleanness. I can recommend this Hotel for moderate travelers.

Good value for the money

I needed a hotel to explore Madrid in a day before flying back to the USA. The hotel is easy to get to. It has different metro stations near by. The Hotel is the historic district which is a plus. Main attractions are within walking distance. My room was pretty decent in size similar to US counterparts. The room was very clean, actually the bathroom had a strong chloride smell which I would’ve preferred not to be that strong, but I guess it was a testimony to the cleanness. I loved the little balcony in the room; even though I didn’t take advantage of it because of the weather and the my short stay, but definitely a plus for a future visit. Staff were friendly an professional, no complaints.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

If you can take the metro to and from the airport. I took a cab early in the morning as the metro only starts service at 6:00 a.m. so I was afraid of not getting on time at the airport. The taxi ride was only 15 or 17 euros; however, I was charged 25 which seems a little too much. He could have rounded up to 20, but 25? where is the honesty in this world? I’m sure I could’ve riden the metro and would’ve still gotten on time and saved more than 20... next time!

Excellent location and staff

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was very quiet eventhough they are located on a busy and noisy street. Location is fantastic and is easy walking distance to major attractions. Would definitely stay there again.

All the servic person are extremely nice with smiles on their face.

El Prado Hotel is a small hotel near the Prado Museum and a park. Though rooms aren’t luxurious but nice size and clean. Breakfast room has many categories of breakfast for us to choose; spanish meal, continental or English. All hotel personnels are ready to help us with the smiles and very polite. Internet is at the lobby and it’s free. We’ll come back and stay there everytime we’re in Madrid.

Traveler's tip

Be careful with the streets in Madrid because they are cobblestone and easy to stumble and fall. Also never ever exchange your money at the booth near Peurta Del Sol. We were charged almost 17% for the commission. We changed 100 english pound and 1lb= 1.8 Euro dollars and we got only 150 Euro. Before we went there we’d gone to 3 banks and they all refused to exchange money for us. The best place to exchange money is the airport. We got the best rate and didn’t pay any commission.

Great location.

The hotel is centrally located in downtown Madrid. Just a few blocks walk from the Prado Museum, Parque del Retiro, and Cervantes tomb. Rooms are small but very clean. The hotel restaurant has a reasonably priced breakfast buffet and is close to other local eateries/shops. We recommend this hotel.

Traveler's tip

Be very aware of pick pockets. Even though I thought I was prepared, my wallet was taken. I recommend a money pouch worn under your clothing. Dangling purses are definitely out. Public transportation is great and easy to use.

Very Impressed

My husband and I stayed at Hotel El Prado during our honeymoon and were very satisfied with the room. The hotel staff was very accommodating and friendly throughout our stay, calling local businesses/museums/etc. for us if we had questions, arranging tickets to see a bull-fight, and answering our questions. We would definitely stay at Hotel El Prado again!

Traveler's tip on dining

Less than a block away from Hotel El Prado is a bustling plaza with several places to eat.
