Borromeo Rome
Overall, for the rate I paid did not like the hotel at all - not exceptionally friendly staff, especially Sergio - exceptionally not friendly and arrogant. The room was crampy, several dirty stains on the walls, the bathroom was not being well maintained: had rusty stains in the toilet, the sliding door into the bathroom wouldnt close... That was like a whole battling exercise every time I fought for sliding it close. A day before check out I asked the receptionist (that night it was Sergio) about transportation options to the airport. He offered taxi for 50 euro. It turned out there are other options, less expensive, available, such as shuttle (15 euro cheaper). Unfortunately, I learned about it in the evening before our check out, when it was too late to book, as 24h advanced book-in required, and that nose-up Sergio just wouldnt tell me about it when the time for booking was still right. That was upsetting. The roof breakfast room is nice, clean and sunny (when it’s sunny). The lady waiting the tables is nice and friendly. The location is OK - not the most centrally though. The hotel is definitely not worth the asking rate.

it was just a tiny room
it was a tiny room that had a bed slightly bigger than a twin bed and a foot of space around it, bathroom was clean-but carry ur own soap and shampoo-really crappy cheap stuff. if u have luggage -good luck with that-it just wont fit. TV was regular 32 ". "roof top" breakfast was terrible.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
The train station was close 7-10 min walk, colosseu was a 10-15 min walk.

Not particularly luxurious but still a very good choice
The Borromeo Hotel was a good choice for our family. It worked out well for our family vacation (two 20-something year old daughters and parents). We had the option of saving money by getting a room for 4 (with one bathroom) but opted for 2 double rooms at a higher cost for the convenience of being able to wake up, shower and be on our way early each day. It was really important for us to maximize our vacation time in Rome and not be limited by our room choice. The overall experience was not luxurious but it the hotel was nice and met our needs well. It was very clean, quiet, and in a great location for those using the train station and sightseeing. We liked the idea that a rooftop breakfast was included (not fancy but very adequate.
Traveler's tip on dining
Walk around the blocks of the hotel - off the main street -- and look for little restaurants which locals patronize. We found several gems just off the beaten path. .
