Nicely maintained, good breakfast

The rooms are fairly large (nearly American-large), and each room has its very own wash basin, toilet and shower - great! The bedroom and bathroom were both very clean, the beds were comfortable, clean and decently sized. There isn’t free Wi-Fi (they had the pay-to-play TMobile that is ubiquitous in Germany), but there was a free Internet-connected computer in the lobby for guests to use. Breakfast was good, if a little expensive. It was your basic German breakfast - a selection of juices, cereal, sliced meats and cheeses, jams, etc. The hotel is conveniently located next to several cheap Turkish and Indian restaurants, and the front desk accepts outgoing postmail.

basically, a scam

My wife and I were on vacation for 9 days, however I needed access to the internet to keep running my research laboratory (I am a professor at U Penn in Philadelphia). I was guaranteed by phone that there was wireless internet in each room. Well, there is NOT. And, if you want to use your computer on the internet you (i) must stay in the hall and (ii) must pay 5 Euros (~$7) for 30 minutes. By the way, there is a free computer in the hall which is older than my grandmother and basically unusable. When I protested with the concierge people, they basically waved me off. To me, this accounts to a scam, period.

practical, great price

This hotel was extremely convenient, practical, inexpensive, and spacious (for european standards). It is close to a Metro stop which made sightseeing easy. It is also close enough to venture over to the Tiergarten area on foot. The room was clean, not luxurious, with IKEA type furniture, and larger than many Paris hotels where I have stayed. Nice young staff.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

In this present economy, Berlin offers a much more affordable alternative to London and Paris. WW II history, as well as the history of the Berlin Wall, and the people are fairly outgoing here.

Value for money and even a bit better

The hotel is conveniently located near U-Bahn station (2 min walking distance). Although the corridors do not look very pleasant with all those scratches and smashed trash cans (I wonder, what was going on there, did someone have nothing to do while waiting for the elevator?), the room was very clean and tidy. Another pleasant thing was a complimentary city map at the reception with all necessary information - it helped us a lot. Btw, we did not see the hookers mentioned in some other review - perhaps they moved somewhere... All in all, a good place for those who need reasonable comfort, but do not want to pay for excessive luxury.

Traveler's tip on dining

There are lots of places to eat around, in wide variety (Italian, German, Arab, French...), so do not worry if the breakfast is not included in your booking. And surely you’ll find a place to eat in the evening (not too late, of course, but perhaps even then - we did not try)

very good price, very near to a metro station (and you can also walk for some tourists points), excelent breakfast, nice people in the recepcion desk.

Pretty decent hotel for the price

Location is once U-Bahn stop from the Ku-Damm shopping area, or a pretty healthy walk if you’re up for hoofing it. Only drawback is that the hotel is right on the edge of the prostitute hang-out area. Nothing threatening at all, and didn’t appear to be any crime related to it. But a bit unnerving to walk outside and to see prostitutes literally lining the street on both sides starting on the corner this hotel sits on. Not a huge deal, but if you’ve got kids or are concerned with this kind of stuff, it’s a bit odd to walk outside to catch a cab and confront a 6 foot tall easter European woman dressed in a pink mini-skirt that didn’t make it past her derrier. But clean hotel, and central location that was exactly what I needed for the money.

Good budget hotel

Based on the room price I didn’t expect much. The exterior and reception area were as expected, the staff was friendly, but the corridors hinted towards spartan rooms. I was therefore pleasantly surprised to experience a nice, modern room and clean, inviting (albeit small) bathroom. My only problem was that the bed was a bit on the small side.
