Uphill

Taxi from the airport cost about 17 euro, which was a lot more than what another reviewer had paid. The hotel has a shuttle, which costs about the same, but you can actually take a bus, which I did on my way home. The worst feature of this hotel was that going back to it from the metro or bus stops, was always uphill from any direction. And not just a gentle slope either. On the other hand, the whole city was very hilly, so chances are, there are a lot of hotels like that. Did not have free internet, but another hotel nearby did. The hotel itself is pretty nice, especially for the price we paid.

Take the bus from the airport, and get off at the Marques de Pombal stop. If you print yourself a google map of the area, it should be easy enough for find. Or you can take a taxi from there, it should be pretty cheap.

Accurate.

This a budget hotel in a good & quiet location. Extra towels & hangers were delivered immediately. Request room on high floor with garden view. Outdoor pool was relaxing & welcome. Local supermarket down the hill supplied fresh, hot, crusty, inexpensively priced bread for breakfast outdoors in the park. Get your coffee from Mickey D’s across the street. Also supplied fresh baked country’s favorite pastella de nata for fraction of price compared to Pastelerias. Hotel staff was courteous, helpful & spoke english well. Few blocks away is a park that is open at night & sells coffee & pastries/cookies. The locals come and talk, exercise dogs & drink coffee & is perfectly safe. The hotel was booked & busy, and I recommend it.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Rick Steve’s travel book on Portugal was a bonus. We enjoyed 2 full dinners w/drinks with the working class people rather than tourist restaurants for only 11 euros in total! Don’t be afraid to poke your head into a small restaurant to smell & survey the eatery. The little mom & pop operations are the best for freshness, taste and price. Look for a menu hand-written on paper towel tacked on the outside wall.

Great Value for the Money

Great hotel for not that much money. Close to two metro stations in what I felt was a safe part of town. It is an uphill walk from either metro station, though. Nice service; the rooms weren’t super luxurious but were clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay here were I go to back and would recommend to anyone looking for a nice hotel at a decent price.
