Simple hotel not fancy but great location and clean.
The hotel is only a short walk from Central Station located on a canal. A small pub next door always has free coffee for guests of the France Hotel and free breakfast items breakfast (cereal, cheese, rolls etc). The hotel is not fancy but is clean and the location for walking around Amsterdam is very good. The staff is excellent. We had a problem with one of our Debit cards and could not call to the USA collect. Phone system would not allow and they wanted $25.00 for the firt three minutes. The lady at the desk was very nice and allowed us to use her phone and wouldnt take any payment. Remember to bring a wash cloth to Europe. No windows in the room. Steps to get up to lobby with luggage. The hotel stored our luggage until we could check in. I would recommend this hotel to others. Ken and Liz
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Bring a wash cloth to Europe, not always supplied in Hotels. Check Debit pin #s. We used ours before leaving by putting them in the ATM entering the PIN and getting to the step to take out cash but not taking any thinking the card was ok. Not until you chose the dollar amount and hit enter does the PIN get rejected. We did notify all the bank card compaines of our trip. Be careful of the bikes and trolly cars!

What I expected, I choose it for price and location.
The rooms are very small but clean. A remote for the TV would have been nice. This hotel is about location. It is a 5 minutes walk from the Central Station and a 10 minute walk to Damn Square. If you like the Red Light District it is 2 minutes away.
Would not recommend for a family. For my son, one of his friends andmyself it was perfect. For the whole family a hotel with bigger rooms would have been necessary.

Location is great
Location is good, but the hotel overall is not really that great of a place. The rooms are small and arent really that clean. The place can get really stuffy. It is in a great location not far from red light, lots of bars and restaurants. Overall we had a great time in Amsterdam.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Make sure you take the train from Schipol. The hotel is right across the street. Dont buy a discounted ticket on the train either, pay for the full price. They will fine you and it is only 1 euro more. This will save you about 40 Euro vs. cab.

Great Location
This hotel has a great location, its at literally across the street from Central station, and on the top of the Red Light District. With great access to bars, resturants and all the shops, and anything else you might want indulge in.
