Far exceeded expectations on comfort and value
The Hotel B Paris Boulogne is a newly renovated hotel just steps away from the Marcel Sembat subway station. It takes approximately 15 minutes by metro to get to the Eiffel Tower and 45 minutes to get to Gare du Nord. We had booked a double room on Expedia but were given a triple on the top floor at no extra cost when we arrived. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are clean, and the bathroom fixtures are new. The hotel breakfast offers fresh croissants and other pastries, yogurt, cereal, ham, milk, juice, and a wonderful little machine that makes all different types of coffee drinks and hot chocolate. The receptionists are extremely kind; one helped us figure out how to use our calling card and another loaned us a bottle opener. Since this hotel is in Boulogne, a suburb immediately outside Paris (one metro stop away from the city), travelers who stay here avoid the additional city tax that is tacked onto all hotel stays within the Paris city limits. Highly, highly recommend.
Traveler's tip on dining
The Cafe Cherie just steps away from Hotel B in the direction of Marcel Sembat is a great spot for outdoor dining and peoplewatching. The waitstaff there is very courteous and fluent in English.

Quite Poor
When I got into my room it had a very musty and mold smell. I went down to reception and was told that I actually got the nicest room! I asked to change and was given a tiny room with a train like toilet... Overall the hotel had a seedy feel to it. I would not stay there again. The area is nice though.
