fond memories
I really enjoyed my stay at the Elite. Being November the courtyard was not a comfortable option. I did not check out the spa but should have. My womb...I mean room on the 4th floor was very nice with a dormer overlooking said courtyard. Quiet, clean, comfortable twin bed. As others have mentioned the breakfast was great. Varied and plentiful. (although, people didnt say much. I suppose the language barriers make everyone apprehensive. Still, I tried forcing hellos in a few languages) I strived to explore authentic czech restaurants and pubs but I also ate dinner one night at the hotel and wish I had tried sooner because the food was very good. I Also spent a late night in the bar (not the basement club) and watched a jazz trio over a couple of beers. I loved how the same space felt transformed from sweet breakfast cafe to a dinner venue to the smoky pub. (Hey youre in Prague, loosen up, people smoke). Anyway, as others have commented the location is great. Youre not in the tourisy area and it might appear a little seedy to some but your right next to tram amd metro and modern shopping and 3 blocks from cobble stoned medeval village. It’s difficult to summarize here. Unbelievable buildings from the 9thc - 20c. Gothic, baroque, Art nouveau. Riding 1960’s? soviet trams, walking at night across the Charles bridge to the left bank down the same streets between builidngs dimly lit by gas street lights where Kafka and Mozart both strolled. Ok, had to romanticize a bit.....
