Pleasant stay

Park 79 was perfect for my weekend trip to NYC. The staff are very helpful and professional and always at the front desk. The doorman is there to help with luggage. The interior is quite pretty and charming, and the single bed rooms are small but perfect for single travelers, equipped with a cable television, free wifi, sink, ironing board, etc. No trouble with the shared bathroom which was clean and stylish. The price was right and the location is perfect... literally feet away from the incredible Hayden Planetarium and American Natural History Museum in beautiful Central Park! The location is comfortable, safe, quiet, and I would definitely recommend this hotel to any other young professionals making their first trek to NYC to visit schools or job interviews.

Nancy & Ron’s 25th wedding anniversary stay at a great NYC hotel!

My husband & I were up-graded to a room with a private bathroom as a courtesy in celebration of our 25th wedding anniversary. What a nice way to begin our 3-night stay at this conveniently located, comfortable hotel! If you are looking to enjoy the City and not spend too much time in your room, then this is the place for you. Aside from staying at a hostel, you probably won’t get any better for your money.

Be sure to have a meal at Ardy’s. Don’t forget to visit Zabar’s; lots of prepared foods to enjoy.

The room with the bath was not 100sq. ft. and within 60 ft. of the front desk. I’m 5’ 7’’ , my wife 5’3"and the bed was too small.

Never stay here

One of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. First, they were overbooked and had to split up our party into other hotels that were far away, which made coordinating for our meetings the next day a disaster. Then I saw the room -- was this a former crack house or what? While the linens weren’t bad, you can’t put enough lipstick on this pig to make it worthwhile. I nearly left and called a friend to see if I could sleep on his couch.

Very New York

The room was much smaller than I’d anticipated from looking at the room provided online, but it was enough since I was alone. Very affordable. Very clean, room service cleaned the room no matter the time & even though I had to share a bathroom (something I found big in NY)it was still kept clean and sanitary. Friendly & helpful staff. I would stay again!

Room very small but clean - Small bed If you’re a big person you will not be comfortable

We stayed for the weekend to attend a church function,It served our purpose. We thought the Hotel was not worth their regular rate. Glade we went through Expedia still pricy for the little space. but that’s NY. We were lucky to find parking on the street and near the Hotel. There is a Deli across the street we picked up goodies for the room. But had no way to keep sodas or water cold. I thought the Hotel could have used an ice machine or vending machine.

the room was pretty nice and clean. in the morning, unfortunatelly ppl were very noisy (both staff and guests. but the overall appreciation is good. nice location too.

Nice cheap hotel. Room was clean and staff was polite. I have stayed in hotels at this price point across the country and most are not as comfortable and clean.

I would stay again

Everything was nice, but a little crammped. The bathroom was really small and it took nearly 5 minutes for the water to get warm in the shower. The elevator is pretty old and really, really slow so only take it if absolutely necessary. Other than those few things it was fine.

Not impressed

Great location terrible service and condition. Photos did not look anything like room! Staff appeared too annoyed to help you. Wonderful trip bad hotel!

Great Basic Hotel

The staff is extremely helpful which was a huge plus for me. Very basic, clean, safe and affordable hotel that’s right in the middle of everything and within easy walking distance to what I needed. I’m planning another visit to this hotel this summer.

Provided exactly what I needed

I went to nyc simply needing a safe, clean, and comfortable place to rest my head, not too far from everything. Park 79 provided just that; no more, no less.

Very nice for the price

Very nice, cheap place to stay. Close to the Museum of Natural History and Central Park. I stayed in a ’hostel’ room. Rooms are small but very clean and actually a little fancy. They have nice, large sinks with a large mirror, but no toilet or shower. Those are shared on the hostel floors, but there are 2 per floor and they are also pretty clean.

Hotel was clean and comfortable, and the staff was very friendly. We never had to wait more than a minute or two on the shower. Everyone who was visiting that week seemed to respect the fact we were all sharing the two bathrooms. Would I recommend it? In a New York Minute!

For us the most relaxing part was grabbing a coffee and heading to a bench at the Museum of Natural History to watch the people walking their dogs! Every morning before heading out and in the evenings before heading in, it was so much fun. And whoever said New Yorkers aren’t friendly must not have visited the same City we did.

Surprisingly small, but clean

The good things: the room was always very clean, and the bed was spacious and comfortable. Electronic devices worked well. Internet access was free. But the bedroom was surprisingly small, and the bathroom was a cubicle. I also missed a fridge. I found the location convenient. Central Park and a subway station were close by.

Great location, easy to get from anywhere.

Only one negative note, the cleaning staff did save on me on the last day of staying - the bathroom seemed cleaned up from everything, no towel left while earlier each day had plenty of them. My anwer was, no tip left in the room what I usually do.

Central Park was just around the corner, great for a morning jogging or a walk, up to you!

average at best

The hotel was average at best. The location was convenient, especially if on vacation and you have time for museums and the park. Easy walk to the nearest subway. I had a single room which was tiny, the hotel was old and creaky with an almost deafening wind tunnel effect some nights. I opted to save money and share a bathroom, which was always puddled and steamy from someone else’s use. I wouldn’t really recomend it, but I guess you get what you pay for and it was a good deal by NY standards.

A nice and conveniently located hotel, but a bit pricy

I liked that this hotel is so close to central park and the museum of natural history. It is also at a walking distance from Columbus circle (about 20-min walk). The room is quite clean and nice for a two-star hotel. The room is very small which is typical for a New York City hotel! There is no mini-bar in the room, which can be quite an inconvenience.

bad service

We got messed around with our reservation. We dropped off our bags at around midday but our room wasn’t ready. When we returned later in the evening they told us our en-suite room was not available as they had overbooked but they were "upgrading" us to private rooms (good) but with shared bathroom (less good as prefer not to have to venture out into the hallway to take a shower). We were told we could not make a complaint to the staff on duty that night so attempted to explain ourselves in the morning to the duty manager with a view to getting a discount for the inconvenience. She was extremely rude and refused to listen to what we had to say right from the outset and left the reception area mid-discussion. It’s not a terrible hotel and I imagine that sometimes when the service is better it is acceptable but I do think there are far better options out there

Small Hotel in Nice Neighborhood

Park 79 was very reasonably priced and located beautifully near the Museum of Natural History, Central Park and the subway. Be warned! The rooms are VERY small...but for 1 or 2 people it is really all you need if you are out for most of the day and evening. The staff recommended wonderful restaurants in the neighborhood and for the most part were friendly and helpful. I would certainly consider going back.

Decent hotel with a decent price !

The location of the hotel is close to everywhere we wanted to go to. My boyfriend and I had a really good time staying in New York!

Not extremely impressed

This room was very small. As small as my closet, you can’t walk passed another person unless you stand on the bed to let them pass. the bathroom was so small, my elbows hit the walls while i washed myself. I probably won’t be staying here again if i ever go back to the city. but if you don’t plan on staying in the room long at all, its not that bad. I was only there for enough time to sleep and shower.

Definitely recommend eating in central park at tavern on the green. a few blocks from the hotel on 67th. Be sure to book reservations before you go to the city.
