Good spot for a meeting
I was here for a meeting with about 20 colleagues. The hotel had a nice conference room and provided us with constant refreshments and reliable wireless internet access. We stayed in the Cabanas, which are in the block adjacent to the main hotel (where the conference room is), and surround a nicely landscaped courtyard with pool; each cabana room has a couple of chairs out front, and there is an additional patio area with tables. I was disappointed that our room, which was one of 4 in a small building next to the reception area, was smaller than the "true" cabanas, which were stand-alone units with high ceilings and stone walls. Our room was a standard vanilla motel/hotel room; clean and comfortable but small and not a place I would want to spend any time apart from sleeping. One drawback: the hotel is on a strip running parallel to the beach and on the weekend the traffic was heavy and the music blaring from some cars caused the walls to vibrate.

OK But Not Great
Overall, very nice. Rooms were great with full amenities and maid and concierge services were very good. However, construction went on from early morning to 9:30 at night, which caused the dogs in room next door to bark, constantly. Front desk staff impervious to any complaints. Poor window view of a patio. Food very poor. Conventional with a wierd american flair. Bar is great with an awesome view and AIR CONDITIONED!
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
Group of friends chartered a boat - about $450 for 12 people for half day. Best day there - snorkeling at remote bay and fishing on the way back. Fantastic!

Los Arcos was just what we wanted
Views of the Sea of Cortez and the white sand right across the street . The rooms arent fancy - but are clean (all beds are hard in Mexico). Mini refrig restocked daily. Good water pressure. If you want water view, pay the extra $ otherwise youll be looking at the swimming pool. Warning: Saturday night is loud on that side - mainly cars and radios - it is the big night out for locals - rest of the time it was fine. Cabanas are half block up the street w/separate swimming pool. The harbor is huge - 40 sailboats anchored and room for many more. sunsets are magnificent. A long, wide, tiled, walking area by the sea attracts everyone early in the morning and evening. Families walk together, fishermen & joggers share the walk & piers. skateboard park to watch local kids practice. Hotel staff was very nice & helpful - exchange money at the desk. Swimming pool is small, clean, has whirlpool connected to pool, and wide shallow area around the edge for small kids . Food served at pool. Two restaurants - one fancy and pricey - (great crab stuffed shrimp). The other a tray line of food offerings. From airport -red cabs are cheaper - $200 peso Taxis always right outside the hotel door. Los Arcos is on one end of the shopping, restaurant-bank area. Banks wont advance money on a credit card - they expect you to use the ATM - so dont forget your PIN. Many - but not all - businesses take bank cards from American banks.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Book Eduardos to swim with the sea lions. Both snorkel & diving - master diver accompanies group. You can get nose to nose with sea lions. Also stop at one of the clearest coral reefs weve ever snorkeled - more colorful fish than Key West or Great Barrier Reef. Daily rate includes all equipment, lunch and hotel pick-up. Trip to the boat shows you a lot of town and country - can be booked through Los Arcos concierge. Best buy of the trip.
