What to expect: Opened in 1948 as Ocho Rios' first waterfront hotel, renovated many times since, and expanded in 1983, this hotel provides casual, quiet vacations in the city.
Amenity highlights: A terrace pool overlooks the Caribbean Sea from the top of a 6-meter-high (20-foot-high) bluff buttressed with a stone wall. Below the bluff, a sand terrace for sunbathing is situated along the hotel’s concrete waterfront. Mango, tropical almond, and other trees shade portions of the terrace. Staircases lead from the waterfront into the Caribbean Sea, which has a sand bottom here and coral reefs offshore for snorkeling.
Insider tip: Shaw Park Botanical Gardens, 2.5 km (1.5 mi) from the hotel, is a 25-acre hilltop reserve with lush tropical plants, a waterfall, and Caribbean Sea vistas.

Silver Seas Hotel's 83 air-conditioned guestrooms in a three-story building constructed in 1948 and renovated in 2003, and a four-story building constructed in 1983. (No elevators). Large balconies furnished with chairs and tables provide closeup views of the Caribbean Sea. Rooms have white furniture, tile floors, rattan-like plastic chairs and tables, and tile bathrooms with shower/tub combinations. TVs include U.S. cable channels. |
