Better than camping but not the Marriott

Nice that the Bird Rock is secluded and quiet. Had the pool practically to ourselves. Snorkeling was good...saw a sea turtle! Staff were very nice and attentive to your needs. The room was less than average but kitchenette is a must. Balcony was nice to view Caribbean Sea while drinking a cup of coffee in the morning. May not be the best for older individuals due to the stairs and walking. A bit disappointed with no beach really and having to have a taxi for everywhere we wanted to go. Most disappointing is the hotel could not accomodate breaking U.S. $100 dollar bill for change or in E.C. money. That was terrible to have to walk to the bank or get a taxi to the Marriott to get cash. Dive personnel very personable. If looking for more to do in one area without having a taxi go stay at the Marriott or be more adventurous and rent a car and get a license. Otherwise, the seclusion, hotel staff, dive staff really made the Bird Rock a "friendly place to stay off the beaten path".

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

The Bird Rock saved money but don’t forget about having to call a taxi. Not that the taxi’s were bad it just adds up. "Smokey" was a really good taxi driver and I would recommend him.

No Pool, No Bar, No Beach, No Help

We checked in October 10 and found out the pool was closed. It had been closed for weeks and would be closed for a lot longer. The bar at the beach was closed. The beach was not maintained and was very dirty. The rooms were marginal. The electricity keep going out and the generator was not turned on unitl dark. Hurricane Omar arrived on October 15 and we were left on our own by the hotel staff. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else on St. Kitts.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Smokey is a great taxi driver. He can be a great help. Go the the strip. Stop at Cathy’s next to the Monkey Bar for some great food made with love.

It is with regret that Hurrican Omar had visited us. The impact was quite large. We had experienced lots of errosion at that time. This allowed us an oppertunity to improve our water frontage and create a fantastic recreational area. Our Pool with swim up bar was being newly tiled and that did take 2 weeks as labor was hard to get preceeding the storm. The management of the Bird Rock Beach hotel assure our clients that our property is in ready condition for their arrival. Come and see and enjoy the beautiful island of St. Kitts.

My trip to st.kitts

Hotel is located in a nice area but the rooms are toally outdated. For anyone that lives in the states it would be like a Days Inn for us.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

If you are young and looking for a island to go party st.kitts is not the one. This island is more laid back where you just go to do nothing.
