Excellent Hotel in the Heart of Rome

I stayed at this hotel for three nights in August of 2009. The service was first rate, and the breakfast was fantastic (best orange juice I have ever tasted). The people at the front desk were very helpful, and the hotel is conveniently located near the Colosseum. If I return to Rome, I will return to this hotel.

Great Hotel Experience

First class hotel with respect to amenities and service. Best breakfast selection including fresh fruit, eggs, sausage, pastries, etc. Colliseum can be seen while eating on the fourth floor terrace. Only problem we encountered was that the air conditioning did not seem to cool the room sufficiently. In fact, the hotel lobby and enclosed halls seemed to be unpleasantly warm.

Misleading photos, needs a renovation.

This was the most expensive hotel of our 8 night trip to Italy. We were put in a back room when the hotel was empty, so no views. Despite what the pictures show, you cant actually see the Colosseum unless you’re on the roof top balcony. The water in the shower goes hot and cold on its own. The tv is some old tube tv from the 1980’s. Rooms are small. Staff were mostly friendly and helpful. Hair dryer is in the desk drawer in the bedroom lol. its plugged in there. You cant move it. gl. NO FREE INTERNET. $15 per day for internet is rediculas. Every other hotel it was free. You have to run the internet cord across the entire bedroom, so enjoy the tripping.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

5 mins walk from the Colosseum.

Great location..great Hotel

Located in the Heart of Rome you can walk to almost any place. It’s alittle hard to find (located at the end one-way street) but it’s worth the search. The staff couldn’t have been more accommondating and the rooms were large and clean. Many nice restaurants and cafe’s in the area. Great rooftop area for relaxing or enjoying breakfast.

Traveler's tip

If you rent a car, parking can be a problem on these tight streets. They do have a parking garage available in the area for 40 euros a day. We were lucky to find a space on the street and didn’t move the car for our 3 day visit.

Outstanding and comfy (king size beds in Europe!)

It was great staying at a hotel with a king size bed in Europe; a rarity in my experience. Neighborhood restaurants were great, quite and safe. Close to the colloseum and rail transportation.

Quiet Room, Great Bed

A great continental breakfast is included, and I like a firm bed, so it was perfect for me. If noise is a consideration, ask for a room facing the interior, as Rome’s ubiquitous motorcycles apparently use the otherwise quiet street in front as a shortcut (all night long). Got an Interior room on my second stay and it was remarkably quiet. They will definitely see me again.

Traveler's tip

The street in the last block as it approaches the hotel becomes a one way, so your taxi will have to go around the block to deliver you to the front door (and not dump you a block away, as one impatient driver did to me).

Great stay!!

During our stay in Rome my boyfriend and I stayed here and absolutely loved it. It’s in a great, safe, area and close to the colloseum and other tourist sites. We walked to 23 different sites ON FOOT in two days. We had a blast and our hotel was clean, comfortable, and the staff was very helpful. The morning breakfast was small, but good. They eat light breakfasts in italy. All in all, i would def. stay here again and recommend this hotel to my family. We felt as if we were the only ones there and were treated very well. They were happy to arrange our tour of the vatican for us and happy to help us find places to eat, etc... Great, safe place to stay!!

Wonderful service

The hotel was in a great location, near the ruins and had a number of restaurants nearby for meals. The staff went above and beyond to be helpful. We arrived for checkin 4 hours early - they did not have our room ready yet, but let us stay in another smaller room to shower and rest up after the overnight flight. They ordered tours and personal cars for us and were helpful in every way possible.

okay, but a couple of things...

A couple of things one should be aware of. The rooftop restaurant is not really a restaurant, despite the pictures in the hotel ads. They have room service which you can take to the roof where there are tables and chairs. There are restaurants close by, but we had bad experiences with those. I’d walk a little away from the neighborhood for a bite to eat. Also, they charge 45 euros to park your car in their garage; that’s like 75 american dollars. (We drove in from Germany.)You can park on the street at an hourly rate of 1 euro, though. Otherwise, the hotel was okay.

Comfortable Hotel near Colloseum and Forum

For Roman standards a very nice hotel with confortable large rooms. Quiet street. A few nice restaurants nearby.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Buy a Roma pass for 3 day public transport and free tickets to two sites/museum, so no waiting in line at the Colloseum.

Wonderful staff

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was beautiful and we loved the location. We had considered staying closer to the Vatican, but after staying in seeing both neighborhoods, we were so happy we stayed here. Everything was really terrific and close.

will come back!!!

This Hotel offered the best stay option of any hotel you can find in Europe, staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast is the best complement to get ready for the long walks on Rome, location is really close to coliseum and Metra so you can everywhere from there...

Traveler's tip on local attractions

If you are planning to go to the coliseum, buy your tickets at palatine ruins, you will be able to use it two days in a row and the lines are shorter

Excellent Hotel, Pristine Rooms, 5 Star Service

I would Definitely recommend this hotel for any kind of trip. The rooms are spacious and neatly decorated, attention to detail is exquisite. Located in the center, two blocks from the Colloseo and within walking distance of the metro station to get anywhere in Rome. Restaurants, ice cream and many shops nearby. Very quiet neighborhood.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Near everything, including the Colosseo metro station.

Awesome hotel

Although, everything was wonderful with the hotel, what struck me the most was the outstanding service. Everyone, the bellman, the front desk personell, the maintenance crew, the housekeeping personell, and especially the people servicing you at the breakfast was exceptionally helpful and friendly. I was actually so pleased with the experience that I’m considering writing the hotel and letting them know how wonderful I thought they all were. Hotel is close to the metro. Close to the Colloseum. Room was large. Bathroom large. Breakfast buffet wonderful. You can actually have your breakfast at the terrace looking at the Colloseum a short distance away. I can’t think of anything I would have changed with the hotel. When I go to Rome next time, I will definitely stay at the Capo d’Africa.

Comfy hotel, great location

We stayed two nights at Capo D’Africa in June. This is a wonderful little boutique hotel, and our stay there perfect. We arrived after a 10 hour flight, and six hour tour. We were exhausted, but our check-in took just minutes. Our bags were whisked out of our limo, we were in our room within 10 minutes, and we were pleasantly surprised with the comfort of the room. Service was gracious at all times. Breakfast on the terrace was quick and good. We’d also return to the terrace each night with a bottle of wine and enjoy discussing our day. When we asked about a nearby restaurant, the desk captain gave us a recommendation and made reservations. It was a two-minute walk to the osteria, and we had a wonderful meal. I cannot say enough good things about Capo, and the only negative is that it took us a while to figure out the system for lights and AC. That, of course, was our ignorance, and the hotel would have responded immediately if we’d consulted them. We were just too tired at that point! Finally, the location is perfect...quite close to San Clemente, the Colisseum, and St. John Lateran.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

We walked to Colisseum, Circus Maximus, San Clemente, St. John Lateran, and many others. There is an enoteca (wine store) on corner and a very good osteria just a block away.

5 star experience

We had a very enjoyable two night stay! The room was clean and comfortable and the hotel was top notch throughout. The staff was the most courteous and helpful of any we found in Italy. Great little roof top bar! Great dinner recommendations from the front desk. It is about a 10 minute walk to the nearest metro station which was inconvenient on the day it rained. At the same time, it was nice to have a little distance from the more touristy strips. We felt as if we were staying in a real "neighborhood" rather than a tourist site. Highly recommended and we would definitely stay there again! Gratzi!!!

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

If arriving at Da Vinci Airport, take the local train to the Piramide stop and then tranfer to the Metro and get off at Colosseo. From there it is about a 5 block walk (maybe 800 meters) to the hotel. You’ll save a few Euro and arrive just as quick as the fast train to Termini.

Second Stay in Rome

This was our second visit to this hotel and will not be our last. Location is great, staff are very friendly, language not a problem, buffet breakfast substantial and room superb. We arrived around 10:30am and they had a a room available for immediate checkin. We were thankful for this. Location was on the first floor at the front and proved to be very noisy with trash collection around 4am. and other early morning activities. On our last visit we had a room higher up and at the rear of the hotel. These rooms are quieter. However this did not spoil our stay and we would recommend this hotel. There is a delightful roof terrace and first floor bar that serves drinks and food. Rooms are very comfortable.

Traveler's tip for business travelers

An excellent business and leisure hotel.

Perfect Location!

This location was perfect for seeing the sites in Central Rome. It’s less than a 5 min walk from the Colosseum & Forum and the Metro station. The hotel itself was clean & modern looking; the staff were very helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Make sure to get the Roma Pass. It gives you free entrance to 2 sites (see the list on the website) and you don’t have to stand it line which is especially nice at the Colosseum. Also, take the time for a day trip to Tivoli. Villa Adriana & Villa d’Este are well worth it.

Close to the sites

The hotel was nice and I recommend the breakfast on the terrace. There is a nice view of the Colosseum. We were able to walk to the Coloseeum, Palatine Hill and Forum the same day. The Metro is right in front of the Coloseeum for easyaccess to other parts of the city. For dinner, try the Royal, across from the Coloseeum, and ask for Salvatori.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Don’t wait in the long ticket line at the Coloseeum. Go the Palantine Hill ticket office across the street and purchase a ticket there for the Coloseeum, Palatine Hill and Forum.

Great hotel!

The hotel staff were very friendly and the rooms were clean and modern. The only issue we had was we could only get sky news in English so when we came back after a long days walking/sightseeing we wanted to zone out for an hour and watch some tv but we couldn’t. We then thought we could rent a movie but that wasn’t available/working in english either.
