Carolous Hotel in Florence
Good Hotel within easy walk to the main attractions in the city. City tour bus stops close by if you are interested in seeing the town by double decker. Friendly staff. We found the hotel clean, incluing the rooms, much different from other comments shown here. Breakfast was good. Also staff recommended several nearby good restaurants that were tourist free and obviously catering to locals.
Traveler's tip for business travelers
If you are thinking of heading out to Tuscany in a rental after your stay. Check out before going to the rental office. This hotel is in a restricted auto zone section of the city. You will be fined if caught driving around the hotel area.

they moved us to a sister hotel
The Carolus had trouble with the air so they moved us to an old hotel that was their sister hotel. It had an excellent staff, and though it was old, It was clean and very nice. we would stay there again, and it’s location was excellent.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
Take a day to take the train to Viareggio, it is on the Riviera, and the beach is wonderful. On the way back, stop at Lucca and see this ancient city with the fortress that surrounds it.

Dirty hotel
This hotel was conveniently located near main attractions and train station, but was very dirty. The carpet in the hallways and stairs hadn’t been cleaned in years. Thank god the rooms had wood floors. The bathroom tile grout was disgusting. The bed was hard as a rock. might as well slept on the floor. The only thing good was the buffet and the hotel staff was very helpful for tours etc. Was labeled as a 4 star hotel it should have been a 2 star hotel. We stayed in two other 3 star hotels that were much better than this.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Take the quick 1/2 day trip around the city by bus, it gives you a good view of everything and then you can chose what you want to go see. Don’t miss the statue of David it was the highlight of the trip.

Our main goal is to have always satisfied guests and unfortunately it look like in your case we have not achieved this. A cleaning and maintenance plan was already scheduled in August but still we had to wait to have a low occupancy in order to implement our schedule. Since your stay we have done it all. Regarding the bed, the mattresses of all beds in the hotel have been changed last year and we have bought one of the best anatomic mattresses on the market. We are happy to know that you have been satisfied by our hotel staff.
