Can’t Wait to Get Back!

This was my second stay at CocoLaPalm and I didn’t think it possible to surpass my first stay, but it undoubtedly did! Took three girlfriends this time, we all had separate jr. suites, and all four of us raved about the accommodations. Whereas we usually go to Jamaica once a year, we are already planning our first of two trips to CocoLaPalm for 2010. Like me, they LOVED it and can’t wait to get back! The (most important) jr. suites were clean and excellently maintained. The resort grounds were beautiful, and the staff (from check-in, bellman, bartender, restaurant, grill lifeguards, security guards, masseuse, and maid service to the maintenance men) were polite, and extremely helpful. There were too many to name but thanks to all of them! Can’t wait to get back! Soon come!

Awesome Village Type Hotel on the Beach

I would definitely come back. Employees were very nice and made you feel at home.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Definitely go to Rick’s Cafe and jump off the 35 ft cliff into the warm ocean water. If you don’t, then you will be made fun of by your peers.

Will go back in a New York minute

I loved being able to walk out the hotel room and be directly on the beach. Very large rooms, including the double shower bathroom in the Jr. Suites.

Visited hotel July 2009. Great Hotel! Recently stayed there for 4 nights in the Jr. suite. Huge room, very comfortable and clean. Great friendly staff and great spot on the beach. The hotel could use some updating, but who is staying in the hotel room when your in Negril. I would definitely stay her again.

An Amazing Escape!

Coco La Palm was an incredible, affordable oasis on the beach. It is centrally located and taxis are available to you almost at any time! The beach is very clean and of course amazing! There is 24-hour security on the beach. There are weekly events for the guests that are a great time. I will not stay anywhere else my next trip back to Negril!

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Take the YS Falls and Black River safari tour through the hotel. Its a great price, and you get a full day of fun. Plus you get to see a lot of the island! Amazing!

THIS WAS THE BEST CHOICE I COULD HAVE MADE!

I had a wonderful stay here. The room was spotless, and our housekeeper Erica made sure she left fresh flowers on our bed daily. Everything was in great condition. The beach staff was wonderful, making sure I had everything I needed while relaxing on the beach. The resturant was great and it was also overlooking the sea. I had a great time and when I return, I will definetly stay at this hotel!

Very impressed

CocaLaPalm is diamond in the ruff. This was my first time in Jamaica and I honestly didn’t know what to expect. We took the shuttle from Montego Bay to Negril and dropped off passengers at some of the more ritzy "All Inclusive" hotels down Seven Mile beach. When we arrived at CocaLaPalm I was very impressed! This is a more secluded family type of hotel with a wonderful staff. If you plan on venturing out into the Negril nightlife ask for Fabian. He is a great guide that will show you a great time. I’m already planning my return trip!!!!

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Convert your money to Jamaican dollars. I will save you alot of hassle in the long run.

Will definately return!!

We found the Coco La Palm resort to be very clean, non-commercialized, and comfortable. The quality of the food, and service at the restaurant and beach bar was very good, and breakfast overlooking the beach was something we looked forward to every morning.

Traveler's tip on dining

don’t be afraid to eat at the places along the beach. We found that our meals at these restaurants surpassed the quality and taste of the more commercialized restaurants found on the island.

great hotel for the price

We had a very nice stay at the Cocoa La Palm. We had a Junior suite which was large with a good air conditioner. We also really enjoyed the patio in the evenings. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Beverly and Vernon were especially nice! The beach access is great with plenty of places to walk to from the hotel. Just watch out for the vendors when you leave the hotel, they can be very overwhelming!Overall this hotel is perfect for those that do not want an all-inclusive hotel.

Planning our next trip!!!

Coco La Palm is the best kept secret in Negril. We walked the 7 mile beach and were hard pressed to find a place as nice as Coco La Palm. The staff was great, the food was great, especially breakfast, and the hotel had the best spot on the beach. The hotel also has the nicest pools on the beach. For the money we spent we would have a challenge finding an island or a hotel that measures up.

If you have kids, buy some snacks at the local Hi-Lo supermarket, its a short cab ride away. It will save you a bundle when they are hungry and its not meal time.

Just Right

I stayed in a -JUNIOR KING SUITE-, it was 40 yards from shore and had a view of the ocean broken by a mango tree....great for privacy as it is a public beach. The grounds of the resort are beautiful, with flowering plants and fruit trees everywhere. This was my first trip to Jamaica. I was worried I must admit, especially when we got to Negril and the resorts looked hit or miss but the Cocolapalm was a hit! The staff was very attentive and friendly. The security is awesome at the beach and in the guard shack out front, the longer you stay, the more you appreciate the security staff. The front desk seemed open to any questions I had, and would point me in the right direction. They seem to surround themselves with good vendors, you will need to negotiate your own prices. My room had a fridge, I caught a taxi to the Hi Lo supermarket to stock up, or you can go to Mikey’s across the street for bare essentials. Best in the West is a very good jerk chicken shack across the street and is perfect to grab an affordable lunch. As far as on the beach,(everything i liked was walking north)there is a cheap bar right next to Cocolapalm, then Sunset Beach Bar for dinner with your feet in the sand. I heard Chances pizza was good and then pass Margaritaville to get to Norma’s which was very good, just to name a few. ALL of the staff seemed to be good people and liked working at the Cocolapalm. The gift shop had good sunscreen and bug repellent (airport security got mine) "respect".

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Jamaica runs on tip’s, greasing palms will get you a long way, just go with it. 200J seemed to work, some deserve more - if you stand out on the beach in a uniform all day, for example. Change your money before you leave the states if possible. If you change money in Jamaica you will not get a favorable exchange rate. The dollar gets no respect. Skip the busride to Negril and take a Juta taxi, they seem to be reputable and you will be halfway to Negril before the bus leaves the airport.

Would Go Again ....

me and five of my friends stayed here ...i had an ocean front room which i loved....my friends had ants in their rooms and was quickly upgraded from a standard room to a two bedroom suite ...the grounds were beautiful, the guards on the beach nice and attentive, we felt beyond safe ...there was a cute staff and guest talent show Wednesday night ...five to seven each night is happy hour so drinks are two for one, Vernon makes the best drinks (hi vernon!) hotel provides water toys for the beach which is very clean ...each time we left the security guard asked us how far we were going and which room we were in, this irked my friends at first but i told them it was a safety measure and then they were pleased...all in all i LOVED my stay here, everyone was friendly

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

We chartered the same taxi driver for our entire week there, we paid him half up front, for about $9 per person (six of us) he took us WHEREVER we wanted to go, Spend jamaican money instead of American, if not you’ll constantly pay a bit over the price, youre at the mercy of the individual’s exchange rate (at the bank 87 jamaican dollars for 1 american, at Ricks cafe 77 jamaican dollars for 1 american ugh) Sweet Spice, On the Rocks, and Cosmos were good local affordable restaurants

Currently being UPDATED

3rd time back, feels like home! Quiet, tropical atomosphere, on the beach, fridge in room, A/C, safe! Not too excited about the new paint color, but all new bedding and furniture was a plus. Bring your own liquor onto resort, cheaper.

Kid friendly resort, bring your own beach/pool toys. Large wide shallow steps were great!

Nice Hotel for its price

Coco la palm is def. a great location and friendly hotel. Not anything luxury though. The hotel itself does need a little more maintenance on it but I love the people there and I love the bed. Best of all, we got free breakfast!

This is my new home away from home

I had a fabulous experience at CocoLaPalm. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I was traveling alone, yet I never once felt alone at the resort. It is also close to downtown and all the entertainment. Almost everything is within walking distance. I have already booked my next trip there.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

Within walking distance to local nightlife.

Beautiful Grounds

CocoLaPalm is a beautiful hotel with beautiful grounds. The location is perfect as it seems it is in the middle of 7 mile beach, and you have your choice of restaurants in either direction. (You also have access to the main road as well). The staff was courtesy enough, and the room was spotless everyday.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Mayfield Falls is a Must! The water and the guides are Awesome. A lot of people have said that Ricks Cafe is a "tourist trap", but I have to state that Ricks Cafe put my trip over the top as the sunset was gorgeous and the food and drinks are priced favorably to the rest of the island. Other than those two places, just enjoy the beaches.

Good

The beach was really nice with trees for shade and security guards to stop peddlers from bothering you while sitting on the beach. The restraunt on the beach was fair. The room wasn’t anything special, but it got the job done and was clean.

Great place to stay

The hotel is located on a wide stretch of beach and is within walking distance to several restaurants and bars along the beach. It is a great place to stay if you are looking for a hotel with services like a pool, restaurant serving breakfast/lunch/dinner, security, but also looking to be able to explore 7 Mile Beach.

Negril Beach Finest

We always wanted to go to a hotel on Negril Beach that would "AWE" us. This is the place. Coco La Palm definately knows how to make all travelers fill important. Nothing was an imposition to them. We have traveled to Negril and stayed at seven different hotels. This by far is the best. Best rooms, restaurant, beach and grill. But mostly the employees. They were great. We’ve never stayed at the same hotel twice but will definately stay here again. Thanks also to EXPEDIA as our travel experience with them has always been great. Nobody has ever beat their prices.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Enjoy the local cuisine, eat plenty of fresh fruits from the ’fruit lady’, kick back on the beach with a good book and enjoy. Interact with other travelers and have a great time.

This hotel has thiefs and we will never go back

I feel violated as a traveler to Jamaica. I love Jamaica and I will continue to go back every year but I must say that I would never ever stay at Coco la Palm again and I would not recommend anyone to stay there, or if you do make sure that you do not take any belongings that have worth to them. This was the WORST EXPERIENCE by far!!! My boyfriends expensive diamond bracelet was stolen from our room and no one even acknowledged that this happened. I brought it to the attention of the manager and the owner of the resort and the response that I received was this happens once a year and they basically can not believe what I say. The owner assured me that he was going to look into this matter and return a call to me and he never did. This to me is bad business, and now my boyfriend is without a bracelet and we have a different view of the coco la palm resort. I recommend if you go to Negril for you to stay at a lower budget place as your expensive belongings are more safe there!!!

Can’t wait to go back

Resort grounds are beautiful!! Staff very friendly and helpful. Resturant and beach grill at resort very good, drinks too. We felt very safe on the beach having the security guards at the resort.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Beach is amazing!!! Walk up and down the beach and find many great beach grills and bars. Norma’s and Chances are great resturants to try. Stay away form Margaritaville... tourist trap- very expensive and NOT worth the money!!

CoCo

The hotel is wonderful, however it is not for those who enjoy the ultra plush all inclusive thing!! The staff is very friendly and helpful! The food was fine. We ate breakfast there everyday. I have seen alot of mixed reviews and want to say that I did very much enjoy this place. You will not find a better beach in Jamaica.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

We have a very good friend there who runs fishing trips as well as snorkeling charters. His name is Philip and you can find him at Seashell Charters Negril! Very reliable and you will not be disappointed! Tell him Jason and Lala sent you!!

great beach location

The beach is very wide and deep with many lounges in sun or shade at the coco. Our party staid in three different room types - the one made through expedia offered a good value. All had an outside seating & table & were fairly quiet, away from pool, road & beach. We shared a suite with another couple the first two nights. Two bedrooms & a bath joined by a lock-out to a living room, kitchen area with frig, sink, counter space & microwave and a bedroom and bath. This cost about the same as two standards (rooms #818 & 817). We moved to the cliffs and the other couple moved to a standard room. It was a basic room with a small frig & large storage area for bags or whatever (#827). We moved back to coco in a deluxe room reserved through Exdpedia for the last night. It was a double double with a little sitting area & frig and a nice size bathroom, large shower area and fairly large sink, vanity / mirror (#430). It included continental breakfast vouchers that could be traded for partial value towards full breakfast. That was the only time anyone in our party ate at the hotel restaurant and all reported that breakfast was fine. There are many places to eat and drink up and down the Negril beach and across the road. Take a taxi to town or the west end for more options. Coco is a good option if you are looking for a larger beach and do not want an all inclusive experience.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

use route taxis with red license plates that charge $80 jamaican + tip @ person to travel from anywhere on the beach side to anywhere on the beach up to the round about in the center of town. or anywhere on the west end to anywhere on the west end up to the round about in the center of town. you have to share the taxi with anyone else who wants to ride. face the on coming taxi & point to the ground in front of you.
