The Hay-Adams
Washington, DC grande dame on Lafayette Square
Distinguished friend
Call it Washington’s second-best address if you must, the Hay-Adams is nonetheless the grande dame of DC hotels; it sits across from the city’s best address and, perhaps, shares some of its secrets.

A wonderful experience
The Hay Adams is a delightful small hotel overlooking the White House. Our room was very attractive and well maintained. We particularly enjoyed breakfast in the comfortably furnished dining room overlooking Lafayette Park. The staff was attentive and friendly. When we checked in, the bellman opened the door to our room and said "this is your home for the next two days." We look forward to visiting again.
Flying to to Reagan National was great, no more than 15 minutes to the hotel.

a bit dissapointed
Room smelled of stale cigarette smoke, could hear people in the bathroom of neighboring room as if they were in your room.

Classy, Friendly, and Welcoming
The only way to truly judge a hotel is how they handle irregular situations. Arriving prior to 12:00 pm on a rainy day, we were provided an excellent room with no wait. We were also given complimentary umbrellas as we ventured out for some sightseeing. Taxis were quick to arrive and all Hay Adams employees were very nice and welcoming. I did not get a sense of superior attitudes, but only gracious smiles. Staying at Hay Adams was one of our highlights for our trip to Washington DC.
A quick cab ride to China Town provides a central location for events at the Verizon Center, an excellent movie theater, clubs, and restaurants. Security was heavy, but not over-bearing for those nervous about venturing out.
