Does not live up to its potential
We were so excited about staying in what appears on their website to be a beautiful, cozy, well maintained hotel, but were disappointed with what we found when we got there. Make know mistake, it was very quaint, quiet and the staff was great. It did evoke feelings of "The Secret Garden" but it seemed that the owners/operators just dont care enough to maintain the property. Half of the lightbulbs in the front entrance were missing and the grounds were in desparate need of attention and landscaping; there was a huge spider in a complete web in the window of our room and we could tell which areas get a regular dusting and which ones do not. One of the stained glass windows in the back of the main house had been boarded up and there were beer bottles on an outside bar that looked like they had been left there for months. Our stay left us feeling that there were so many little things that could be done to make this place spectacular, but that the owners just dont care enough to do so. This place has so much potential but it just didnt deliver.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
If you are particular about having a balcony/patio or a view of the gardens, call ahead and discuss your needs with the staff.
