In summer and located in desireable, pleasant area for walking makes price less competitive, though one hopes to get more of a break from a no frills hotel. Desk staff did adequate efficient job, no special attempts with friendliness or helpfulness.Overall, not bad, would consider going again or might try out a different no frills one. Did not try the "pub" or cafe. Have had the more full service experience,just needed the basics this time.

Stairs to get to entrance and to rooms. No elevator, which is OK unless health condition prohibits.

Great experience!
This is an old fashioned house or building made into a hotel so each room is unique, that made it fun and a one of a kind experience. The location is the best in a neighborhood but quick walk to everything in downtown. The downside was the rooms where small, so plan on cozy!

James Bay Inn
The James Bay Inn is ideally located in Victoria within easy walking distance to the downtown and many toursts attractions. The cafe in the hotel was excellent with an appealing decor and atmosphere.
