Better than expected
Some reviewers said this hotel was below their expectations so I was worried about what I might find. The only thing I can actually comment to the bad is that their AC does not create the Arctic Blast we Americans are used to getting in hotels. But this is merely the way they save on energy costs. I found the room to be very clean, very nice and the hotel staff willing to help at anytime asked. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone whose stay requires them to be in this side of town.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
This hotel is not expensive. The bus stop and the Tram stops are with in a minute walking distance and can get you anywhere you would like to go in Barcelona.

lack of ac ruins nice hotel
This is a lovely hotel but the ac does not cool the room at all. The room was a good size (for Europe and the price) and the Diagonal has a very nice pedestrian walkway with restaurants and a mall/grocery store nearby. But after a hot day touring I did not enjoy coming back to a room that would not get cool.

Wonderful Stay
Enjoyed our stay at the Amrey Diagonal in March 2009. Hotel is very clean, comfortable and although it’s not in the center of the city, it’s in a fantastic neighborhood location. Very easy to get to the main sights from this hotel.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Don’t miss the walk down Ramblas Poblenou, which is just to the left of the hotel as you exit. Great 20-minute walk straight to the beach with wonderful shops, restaurants along the way.

Great deal for the price
Great location on Diagonal Avenue, close to a tram stop, 4 blocks from metro station, close to the Apgar tower. Breakfast is not included in room price, costs 8 euros/person.

A really nice inexpensive hotel
The hotel was clean in a quiet street in a corner with the Diagonal avenue, close to a tram stop, which can take you to the nearest metro stop, close to the Apgar Tower. The hotel staff was nice and friendly. One of the Ramblas that ends at the beach begins right in front of the hotel. The expedia rate does not include the continental breakfast, which costs 8 euros. I highly recommend it.

Rainy Barcelona
Even though the weather was crap the weekend we were there we had a nice stay in Barcelona because of this hotel.
