Awesome location

This hotel is at a great location, and offers a good cheap parking option (although it’s an open-air parking). The hotel is two blocks from the IMax theater, in an area packed with shopping and food/entertainment options. It is also much lower priced than all the other hotels in the area. The room was not too big, and the bathroom was a bit uncomfortable; the toilet is placed at a weird angle, making your knees touch the bath tub when you sit. However, it was clean and warm. Considering the great location and the price, this is one of the best places to stay in downtown Montreal.

Clean and Comfy in great location

This hotel was located right in the middle of all the attractions. Just a walk from great shopping and the Bell center. The room was clean and well maintained. The parking was the only opportunity. I would stay at this hotel on another trip to Montreal.

Perfectly satisfied

The hotel was convenient to most of the sights. We walked everywhere. There was parking directly across the street. There is a restaurant in the hotel open for breakfast and lunch. The food was plentiful and delicious. Rooms were adequate, small, and clean. Upon check-in, we asked for suggestions for restaurants and were pointed towards a street nearby.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

I’d recommend a visit to the Tourist Bureau. Agents are available to describe the kinds of tours, museums, activities that would satisfy interests of one’s group. We signed up for a bus tour and found other spots suited to our interests. Since we were looking for restaurants that didn’t necessarily cater to tourists, we got an added bonus from the agent who helped us by suggesting a couple of restaurants off the street to which hotel had first directed us.

Great customer service at reception desk

The front desk people were helpful, friendly and spoke fluent French & English. They arranged for our pick up for a guided tour when we inquired about available tours. There is a wonderful restaurant attached.

Great location, great price!

This hotel is in a perfect location if you are planning on hitting up shopping on St. Catherine Street and the Bars / Clubs on Crescent. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the place was clean and my room was quiet. The hotel room was a good size for two people, and very clean room. The hotel lobby was decorated very nice also. Great choice! I would definitely recommend this place.

Great Value

The Best Western Europa is located in a great spot in Downtown Montreal. One block away from Rue St. Catherine and within walking distance of many shops, sidewalk cafes and restaurants, and historic landmarks. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this hotel. There’s a lounge on the first floor, a deck on the top of the hotel, and a great restaurant (only open for breakfast) on the first floor as well. And there’s also a spa facility that provides pretty much everything a regular spa provides.

Traveler's tip on dining

The restaurant on the first floor (I can’t recall the name) is only open for breakfast but they serve GREAT meals! I highly recommend eating breakfast there at least once during your stay.

My car was robbed

This hotel is exactly as stated... a 2 star hotel. The rooms were clean but very out dated. The heater/AC is a huge metal unit. You can hear EVERYTHING going on in the hall ways. They don’t offer parking but you can park across the street for $20 a night. My car was broken into and neither the hotel nor parking lot employees offered any compensation. Most people staying at the Best Western park their car in this lot, so it is a reflection on THEM.

Traveler's tip

If you want to over pay for a 2 star hotel, at least park in a lot OTHER than the one across the street.

Average Review for an Average Hotel

The hotel room was too close to a main street and it was loud. The beds were not extremely uncomfortable or uncomfortable, but definitely not the best. Overall it’s an ok hotel. But it does have a great location

Traveler's tip on nightlife

It’s on a very active street, two blocks from crescent street and on the intersection of st. catherine street

Good, but not great

The hotel staff were always exceptionally friendly and very helpful, answering my questions correctly and courteously every time. The room was clean, but space was tight(single room with one queen bed). The drain in the shower ran slow as there would be standing water(1 to 2 inches) after even just a quick shower. This could probably be fixed quickly though. The lounge and the Thai restaurant were both very good. The breakfasts were very good as well. The location is fantastic if you want to spend time shopping on Saint Catherine Street or dining and partying in the restaurants and clubs on Crescent Street. Both are just a very short walk away. Close to the Bonaventure Metro stop and the Bell Center (major concerts and sports)also. If you are looking for a clean, no frills venue in a great location, you will probably be happy with this choice.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

Crescent Street is fantastic. Only two blocks away, it has a huge variety of restaurants, pubs and dance clubs. In addition, there are several wonderful art galleries in the older buildings that make for a very enjoyable experience. Love the contrasting architectural formats between the old buildings and the new. Definitely a must see if you are in this part of town.
