fantastic hotel,location and price
The Novotel Budapest Centrum is a standard Novotel - clean, friendly with good amenities. The rooms in themselves are large but very standard Novotel. What makes Budapest Centrum stand out, however, is the lovely Art Noveau building its housed in. This building is truly beautiful when lit up at night. The hotels in-house café and restaurant is also splendid, a classical central european café. Overall very much recommended for a stay in Budapest.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
This is the second time we have stayed in a Novotel and the concept seems to be successful in providing good quality accommodation at a reasonable price.

Quality hotel in good but not excellent location
The hotel has an old facade but is new and lovely on the inside. The negatives are few: 1) that you have to use transport or walk a mile to go to the heart of dowtown. It is very close to a metro and tram lines so this is not a problem unless you are a traveler that has to stay at a location where sites are right outside your door, 2)breakfast is not included and is very expensive at the hotel and 3) when they say internet access is available in the lobby they dont mean a connection----they have two nice computers available for free usage but you have to share with the other guests. Overall a good hotel and easy to get to other places with public transport.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
Buy a metro/public transport pass for 3 or more days because they are cheap and otherwise you have to deal with their confusing zone system. The Metro police love to catch tourists who have gone past their allotted point and give out a $40 ticket. A daily pass for about $6 a day avoids all this hassle.

Great Hotel in Pest
This was the nicest Novotel weve stayed in so far. The building was beautiful and the room was rather large for a European room. The service was excellent. The hotel is just a few blocks from the train station and there are several restaurants within a 5 min walk. The center of the city is about 10-15 min walk and very easy to get to find.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Since the hotel is just a few blocks from the train station, we took a train to Vienna Austria for the day. If you have a day to spend elsewhere, I highly recommend Vienna. The train ride was 3 hours, but if you leave at 7:00 AM and return at 8:00 PM, you have enough time to run around Vienna.
